We enjoyed our long weekend stay. The house was very clean and had everything we needed or wanted including chilled beer mugs. The owner was very easy to deal with and kept in contact throughout the rental process. The view from the living room and the cozy fireplace were the highlights. Would stay here again. Thank you!

A group of friends joined together at this home for an extended New Year's Eve weekend. We had a wonderful time chatting by the fireplace, cheering on our favorite football teams on the big screen, and cooking some delicious dishes in the well-equipped kitchen. The home had all of the space and amenities that we needed, making it the perfect place to ring in 2013. Thanks to the owners for opening their lovely home to us!

We rented Baer Necessities for a duck hunting trip in early January. The pictures of the home on the website really do not do it justice. The home is very well stocked, beautifully appointed, and the view is unbeatable. Nice touches includes the game room in the garage, fireplace (they even provided a nice stock of wood and kindling!), the hot tub, well supplied kitchen, and of course the view from their property. The owners were very easy to work with. They check in with us on the first day to make sure we had everything we needed. We had multiple contacts in case we had a problem, which we didn't. Too bad we couldn't use the pool! We plan to rent the home again in the spring and bring our boat! Highly recommend

Baer Necessities is anything but "bare". Inviting, cozy, impeccably clean and all the amenities one could ask for and much much more. The owners are INCREDIBLE people, they really treat you like you are going to your own personal B&B. I have been using VRBO for years, and have never come across owners this accomodating and communicative. We arrived to a a home that smelled like a glorious english garden and a set fireplace that the owner personally set. The views of Jenkins Creek are incredible, and the yard is beautifully maintained, with an even mix of sun and shade. If you are a nature buff - watching the Great Blue Heron every morning and evening is a treat, seeing hawks, crabbing, fishing, and birds galore. Grab a lifejacket (provided) and jump in the canoe and take it up to the Choptank River, throw in a fishing line and chill! There is a fantastic gas grill right off the kitchen, and you can come right in and play a game of ping pong or fooseball in between grill checks! The house is within 10 minutes to any grocery store - the best is Fresh & Green. Only con we could find about the area is if you like to drink good wine, be sure to bring your own, it is tough to find nice bottles of wine in the town of Cambridge. Baer Necessities has everything a couple and/or family could want for a weekend stay or a weeks vacation, we sure do plan to come back with our children in the coming year. Thank you to Teri and Lauren - we could not have asked for a better trip and homeowners to deal with.

Really enjoyed this house -- the property itself was also very nice, it has a great view of the creek, larger than what I expected, and the large window in the living room also allows you to view the great scenery from the inside. The rooms are very nice and comfortable, it was a great find! Everything seemed to be in great condition. Really enjoyed the bikes that were available, and there are many options for outdoor seating as well, with such a nice and relaxing view. Sitting by the pool and watching the sun set was so enjoyable -- it is hard to leave! The owners were very accommodating and extremely responsive. Am looking forward to coming back, even during the off-season!

We needed a spot to stay near Salisbury for our annual participation in the metric Seagull Century cycling event. The house was simply perfect for our needs, with lots of space and amenities for relaxing, a very well equipped kitchen, and a beautiful setting. The comfortable beds were particularly welcome after the long day of cycling. The house is extremely clean and well cared for, and the hosts have clearly worked hard to make it an easy escape. We highly recommend it!

Spent 3 terrific days at the Baer's home in Cambridge. The house was immaculate and had all conveniences. Well stocked kitchen, comfortable living areas and a very large plasma TV in the living room. Ate all meals on the screened in porch and relaxed in the hot tub. Sorry did not have a chance to use the pool but plan to on our next visit. I spoke with Teri and suggested making an easier put in for kayaks. They are addressing that issue and agree it is needed. Looking forward to another visit next year. P.S. We also helped ourselves to 3 eggplants from her garden for dinner. Great fun was had by all.

I had a wonderful romantic weekend at Baer Necessities with my girlfriend--now fiance. I surprised her by proposing to her at sunset the Friday we arrived--unbeknownst to her, we were not coming to join friends at their rental. Instead we would have a perfect romantic weekend at a perfect location. The gorgeous and private setting of Baer Necessities was exactly what I was looking for; close enough to town for easy bike rides, but secluded enough to feel like we were "getting away from it all." We took advantage of the many amenities: we biked into downtown Cambridge for lunch, canoed out to the bay for sunset, relaxed in the hot tub and read outside by the small pond near the water. Teri was a wonderful to work with and she helped me be confident about using VRBO for the first time. We were in regular contact before and during our stay, even providing helpful restaurant recommendations. I had complete confidence that if anything had gone wrong it would have been handled immediately. However, everything was perfect, as advertised. Thank you so much Teri. We will be back for future romantic weekends and with family and friends. Jason and Jeanie

We stayed at Baer Necessities to have a family holiday consisting of my wife & I, two adult daughters and one partner. The house was as described...very comfortable, with some original "Maryland architectural features" retained and is in a beautiful location. We were visited by Ospreys and an otter every day! The pool and hot tub were excellent, and the facilities in general were all good. We fished many times, we used the crab pots from the house, caught and cooked our own Blue Crabs and they were delicious. We were even invited by the owners to use fresh vegetables from the garden, which was a nice gesture. We used the canoe and bicycles and all in all had a great time. Finally, the owners can only be described as exceptional in their desire to ensure that everything was as you would wish. We were sorry to have to leave and would definitely return without hesitation.

Baer Necessities is a little slice of heaven tucked away in MD.   It is well appointed with everything you can think of. The fish were biting, the stars were shining, the herons were flying, (ospreys too!). The pool was delightful, we swam everyday. It was a perfect getaway!! The listing was accurate, property was well maintained and the owners were wonderful! We have used VRBO in the past and this is by far our best experience; with the owners and the house.

                      Year Purchased: 2010

                      Why the Owner Chose Cambridge:
For years we crossed the Choptank River bridge and drove through Cambridge on our way to vacations in Ocean City and were intrigued by its quaintness. Over the past several years we spent a few long weekends exploring the area, decided to purchase a home, and found our property on Jenkins Creek. Although we may eventually retire here, until that time arrives we've decided to share our home as a vacation property. We hope you enjoy our home and the Cambridge area as much as we do!

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Although located at the end of Jenkins Creek Road overlooking the water and surrounded by farmland and exclusive properties, our home is only moments from downtown Cambridge with all of its amenities. With minimal local traffic, walking, jogging, and bike riding are safe and pleasurable. The school and city park at the town end of Jenkins Creek Road have tennis and basketball courts, a baseball diamond, play areas for kids, and views of the Choptank river. All are a few minutes walk from our house. Also, because of our location, in the summertime you can explore the Cambridge area without the hassle of the beach traffic on Route 50.
