A great oceanfront, beachfront location that still retains the Old Hawaii charm and feel in a low rise low density resort atmosphere. Here you will find lush tropical gardens, cool trade winds, and sounds of the ocean where you can leave your stress behind and put you at peace while you are here. There are two observation decks by the ocean and two stairways down to the ocean.
The location of Maui Sands can't be beat. Located in Honokowai, between Kaanapali and Kapalua and close to everything. Directly across the street is a fish market, deli, fishing & snorkel shop, and other retail shops. The farmers market is 1 block away where you can sample and buy fresh island produce. Approximatley 3 blocks away is the Times shopping center with a large grocery store, and more shops and restaurants. The Whalers Shopping Village in Ka'anapali and the town of Lahaina are just a few minutes drive to provide you more shopping and restaurant options.
Start your day with a beach walk or walk in the neighborhood to explore. A short walk in the Lahaina direction brings you to the new 'Beach Walk' which is a public walk way that runs along the dunes just behing the beach and goes all the way up to Black Rock at the Sheraton hotel. Along the way you will find a couple of beach side restaurants that are great. Of course there is swimming, snorkeling, and occasionally surfing right in front of the Maui Sands, depending on the conditions throughout the year. Often you will see turtles directly in front and on occasion a Hawaiian monk seal has been known to visit the beach. Between December and April, the whales are here and from the Maui Sands property you have a great location to watch them.

Our first trip to Maui - loved Maui and this condo was perfect for us. It is very clean and nicely maintained with very responsive onsite management. No need to worry about beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, because it was all there. The location is ideal, just north of Lahaina with beaches galore to choose from and lots of restaurant choices. One of our favorite things to do was to watch the sunset every evening from the viewing decks on the property. I would wholeheartedly recommend this property!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

The property was as described easy to locate and all the features advertised available.The location is excellent close to the sea and facilities.The sound of the ocean in an evening and the gentle breeze through the bedroom gave you an excellent nights sleep. Very suitable for couples and people wanting some peace and quiet.The furniture was adequate but I suspect the couch needs replacing at some point.Not a problem to us as we did not deed to use. The beach outside is a bit rocky but there is plenty of decent beaches close by.Overall I would have no hesitation recommending this property,I would stay on the first floor rather than the ground.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

This place was just wonderful. We spent a week at the condo in January, and it met everyone of our needs. It was clean, comfortable, and we honestly felt like we lived in Maui for that week. The unit had everything we needed, including a super comfortable bed, which we enjoyed laying in while listening to the waves crash on the beach. While not oceanfront, we could still see the ocean from the bedroom, and we would head out every night to the seating areas along the water and enjoy the sunset. I would highly recommend this unit; in fact, both my husband and I said as we walked in, "This place is even better than the pictures show." It is a great value in a fantastic location where everything you could want to do is close by.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

My wife and I have been to Maui several times. We have always stayed at the big hotels in Kaanapali. This trip we stayed at the Maui Sands Condo complex and had a wonderful time. The unit we stayed in was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the fact that we had a kitchen to prepare many of our own meals. Eating out all the time gets old real fast. The kitchen was well equipped, except for the lack of a blender to make smoothies. The unit was plenty big enough to feel comfortable and not confined. The bed was incredibly comfortable and seemed to aid this troubled sleeper in falling asleep quickly. We slept comfortably with the windows open and listened to the waves crashing along the shore every night. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the pool area on the premises, which rarely had any other people present when we used it. Much quieter than the big hotels. Assigned parking was nice too. We never had to worry about getting a spot and didn't have far to walk to our unit. Our least favorite room in the unit was the bathroom, but only because it had a noisy fan, which remained on as long as the lights were on. A quieter fan with a separate switch would really improve the overall comfort level in this unit. With that said, our stay was thoroughly enjoyable otherwise. We have every intention of returning to this location during our next trip to Maui. The location is great and close to two of our favorite locations, Sansei Japanese Restaurant in Kapalua and downtown Lahaina, which is a major hub of activity. We could walk to the end of the balcony and occasionally see some giant sea turtles in the surf. We had a birds eye view of the islands of Molakai and Lanai. We were in very close walking distance to some good restaurants, a very good coffee shop ("Bad Ass Coffee CO."), and a Boss Frog's rental store where we rented our snorkeling gear. Great snorkeling at several nearby locations towards Kapalua.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, tourists without a car.

About the owner: We have been vacationing in the Hawaiian islands for many years, and have always found Maui to be our favorite island.

There’s a lot do if you want activity, but there’s also a calmness here. When we found Maui Sands, we knew we were in a very comfortable place. It reminds us of what Hawaii was like when we first visited here. We are on the top floor of a two-story building and can see and hear the ocean from our lanai and bedroom. We’re probably about 50 steps from the ocean.
