  We would like to begin this review by stating that we tell only our closest of friends about Old Homosassa. We love its quaintness and would like it to remain that way. We have been coming to Homosassa for many years and have stayed in many places. This house is nothing short of FANTASTIC! We feel that the pictures don’t come close to doing it justice. It is so much better than we could have ever imagined. The spaciousness of the living and dining areas provide all the comforts of home. The outside screened balcony is a joy. The bedrooms are lovely and comfortable. The kitchen is smallish but amazingly efficient. We cooked our Thanksgiving meal there and everything was perfect. Melanie is wonderful to work with and she is very thoughtful to every detail to make sure your stay is everything you want it to be. We took this particular trip to look into purchasing our own slice of paradise. Melanie was so helpful in our quest. We found what we were looking for and, if all goes according to plan, we’ll be retiring there in a few short years. In the meantime, this is the only place we will ever stay until we have our own home in “Sweet Home, Homosassa”!

  My frinds and I had such a wonderful trip to Homosassa, and we were so happy that we found this home. It is beautiful and very clean. This will be the only place we will stay from now on when we head up to the river!

  We LOVED this home!! We were in town for a weekend of scalloping and it worked perfectly. We opted to use the dock - it was convenient and easy to navigate. They even left a wheeled cart to make loading the boat less of a chore each day. The home and yard were well kept and clean when we arrived. The house was well stocked with plenty of towels, blankets, pillows, dishes - even laundry soap - which was much appreciated. There were also little extra touches such as tons of DVD's and videos and a gas grill. Everything worked as it should and we had no problems. We will certainly be back. Thanks for a wonderful visit!

  Drove over from Orlando to be on hand for Scallop season 2012. This was our first experience w/ VRBO and this place was outstanding. Better than described in the writeup and everything seemed new and in great condition. Clean, roomy, beds comfortable, screened porch, parking for many cars (and trailers), washer and dryer a particular plus. 5 adults, 11 year old boy and dog...plenty of room for everyone and we all slept comfortably. We cooked in 3 breakfasts and 2 dinners...kitchen was great and grill worked fine. Otherwise we were out on the boat all day, up the river and out on the gulf. Saw Manatee (and pup), fish and scallops. Highly recommend this place to families and boaters. We have already booked a return visit.

  This was our second stay at this home. We spent a week here in December 2011 and a month+ in April/May 2012. This home would be our first choice if we ever need a rental in Homosassa again. It is a gem! The description and photos of this rental are very accurate. The home is very well equipped, nicely furnished, and very clean. The layout is great and the screened porch spans the entire back of the property with a relaxing and pleasant view of the canal, back yard and wildlife. The owners are very accommodating and do everything possible to make sure there aren't any issues with the home. There are numerous good "locals" restaurants nearby and the folks in the neighborhood are friendly. The only negatives are: (1) the more folks that find this rental, the less it'll be available if I ever need a place to rent in Homosassa again and (2) as you can see in the photos, this is an elevated house, so you need walk up a flight of stairs to enter the home. This wasn't a problem for us, but was an issue with some of our older relatives who came to visit us while we were there.

  We stayed in this very well equipped home for 3 months. We were happy with the location and felt very much at home. You can't go wrong with this rental.

  Over the last several years, my husband and I have visited Homosassa and rented several homes using VRBO. Last summer we stayed at this home several times and couldn't have been more happy. The property is updated, modern, beautifully landscaped, and extremely clean. The owners made sure we were completely satisfied with our stay (each and every time). The competitive rates make this an even greater find!

  Just got back home today from our stay in Homosassa Springs and can't wait to go back. The house was awesome - immaculately clean, fully furnished with every thing you could possibly need including a great selection of DVD's, full size new gas grill, and furnishings that really make you feel like you are at home. We used this property to its fullest with both of us, our three kids and Grandma in the house, while my brother, his wife, twin toddlers, and two dogs used the RV hook up out front. We ate meals and socialized in the house with plenty of room. The washer and dryer was a much appreciated benefit with all the kids on this trip. Screened in porch was very relaxing and well furnished as well. The ease of docking across the street was a great benefit to our stay. The dock is on a private canal, well cared for and easily handled our 25 foot boat. The neighbors were great and very friendly. Melanie and Jack were wonderful! They were quick to respond to any questions and bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable and worry free. This was our first time renting this Homosassa Secret and we are already checking our calanders for our next visit with these great owners. Thanks again for a great vacation! Rick & Sue

I ask all our guests for suggestions to improve the comfort and enjoyment of our home. After talking to you I have decided to put a dvd/vcr player in both bedrooms. I also discovered I have a large supply of vhs kids movies in addition to the dvds that are already there.. Hopefully this will help on those rainy days or when the adults want to entertain in the living room. Plastic dinnerware is also coming. We are glad the dock worked out well. You were our first guestsl since we added the dock access. We also very much appreciated your help in getting the house ready for the next guests.   We recently stayed here for a weekend of scalloping. What a great clean house. It had everything we needed and then some. The owners were great to deal with.Very easy to enter and exit with a boat with plenty of room for parking. This was our first experience with renting a vacation home and we will def. be doing this again.

  I'm sitting here on my last day wishing it wasn't. This home is much nicer in person tha in pics. Property was kept very clean with plenty of linens and bath towels. I was very impressed with the owners concern for my needs, and would recommend this rental to anyone except those who can't do stairs.I will DEFINATLEY be back. Thankyou very much.

  We rented this home over memorial day weekend at last minute. Melanie was great and got back to us fast and had everything ready for us when we got there. Melanie also offered to take me shopping when my other half had my car!! The kids loved the movies (there are tons!) and the big tv in the living room. We loved the porch it was beautiful to relax on and we grilled for dinner every night on the wonderful grill. Only 5 minutes to Homosassa state park and boat rentals/ramps. Great location close to everything and a beautiful home. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you again!

  We absolutely loved the house! The location was perfect for bringing our boat down and exploring the waterways in the area. The house was everything we wanted and then some! We always rent from VRBO homes on vacations and this was the best one we have stayed in yet. Melanie went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed, and even brought an extra bike over for us to use for the week.

  A lovely holiday home, fully equiped to a high standard (now including a kettle for the English visitors to make a cup of tea). The home was very clean and well maintained, and in a peaceful location. There are even cycles available in the shed under the home to explore the area. I would recommend this home to everyone, except physically disabled people, as the accommodation is accessable by stairs. We found Melanie to be very helpful and friendly.

  Our stay in this Old Homosassa home was one of our best long weekend trips ever!! This was our first use of a vacation rental and now we are hooked. I NEVER want to stay in a motel again. It had everything we could possibly want and more. It was also very clean. Having a grill to cook on was wonderful and the big TV was a hit for all of us. There was a big variety of dvd movies to watch when we felt like chilling. I brought my laptop and the WIFI was great. My husband and I enjoyed sitting on the porch. It was very relaxing up high and there seemed to always be birds are squirrels entertaining us. We even saw a hawk. When we arrived the owners met us, showed us around the house and gave us a list of all the local hot spots and grocery stores which helped us find our way around. They are all very close. The Wildlife Park is a must see! Lu the hippo is one of the main attractions plus the manatees. The Freezer is very close and has the best peel and eat scrimp. The main bar is the original freezer that the fish house kept all the fish in. I could list all the places we went to but you will see them when you get there. We are hoping to go back in July and take our boat for scalloping. There is plenty of room to park and because of the circle driveway it will be easy to get in and out. Now if I can just get some more vacation time!! Thanks again Jack and Mel for the wonderful accommodations! Hope to see you again!!!!

  Super clean, bright, comfortable house in the heart of Old Homosassa. Freindly and helpful owners. Nice water view, with comfortable deck to relax on. Close to many Old Homosassa restaurants. Recommend Neon Leons and Margarita Grill for lunch. Peaceful and relaxing. Would definitely return, and highly recommend!!!. Thanks!!
