The owner of the apartment was very easy to work with, responding our emails quickly. He inspired confidence, which was important to us as strangers in a foreign land. The apartment is well situated within walking distance to Notre Dame, Pompidou Center, and Latin Quarter. The closest Metro station is within three to four minutes of walk. The studio is not large, but it has a well-equipped kitchen. It is facing a school and is very quiet after five when students are gone. It is bright and airy as claimed. It does not have a washing machine, but there is a laundromat on the street level of the building. It is equipped with a small LCD tv with many stations including CNN and BBC. Its Internet access was quick and reliable. The building is very secure, requiring the passing of two safety doors to access its elevator. There are several grocery stores nearby including a couple of Chinese grocery stores and several Chinese restaurants as well. Paris is a beautiful city. During the day, we avidly took in its beauty. At night, the apartment provided us with a safe haven. We like Paris and hope that we may come back again.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Unlike other reviews I will not dwell on how there were no surprises with this rental. How centrally located to explore Paris and experience the real lifestyle of this fasinating city and people. How everything you could possibly need from grocery stores, laundry mat, fine restaurants, transportation when needed, etc. is so close. I prefer my focus of this wonderful vacation to address our host, Philippe. I can't say enough about how Philippe was always available to cheerfully help make our visit the best it could possibly be. Don't dismiss how important it is to have a host who is invested in you and your needs because you never know when you might need him. Like at 6am. the morning we were leaving and locked our travel documents in the apt.. Instead of ignoring a call at such an ungodly hour, Philippe answered the phone, got out of bed and let us into the apt. so we could get our documents and end our trip on a happy instead of tragic note. We can laugh at this incident now but what a mess it could have been. Of course all of the other things about the apt. are important but for us it will always be Philippe who made our stay a memory we will never forget. Philippe was a pleasure to work with from his patience through the booking process, helping us settle in, to that eventful last morning.I will certainly recommend to friends and family traveling to Paris to contact Philppe. Thanks again Philippe, you're the best.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I just came back from spending 2 weeks in Philippe's great little flat in the heart of the Marais in Paris. I had been to Paris several times and was looking for a more authentic Parisian experience and this place was perfect for that. It is small but functional and had everything you could need. I was near several market streets and there were great shops near by so I had fun shopping and cooking. There is a metro stop at the end of the street plus the Marias is a great neighborhood to explore Paris from. I like to walk and was able to walk the length and breath of Paris from this great central Parisian neighborhood. Philippe ( and, of course, Max) were the perfect hosts. Philippe was always readily available to answer questions and help. His packet of near-by restaurants and shops was very helpful. After my stay I can truely say that I feel like I have a much better understanding of the Parisian life style. It was great fun and I would definitely recomment this little sweet spot to anyone who wants to spend time in the City of Light. Hopefully, I will be able to come back some day and I would definitely stay here again. Philippe, merci beaucoup!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Geri, Thank you for your nice review. Promise when I come to San Diego i call you !!! à bientôt, Philippe & Max

We had a great time at Philippe's apartment in the Marais. It was as advertised -- convenient and well-appointed. Everything worked perfectly, the kitchen was well-equipped, it was sunny, near everything, yet on a fairly quiet street and Philippe is nice as can be. An added bonus is that there's a comfortable (almost stereotypic) bistro about 25 feet from the front door which makes for a great dinner spot if you arrive in Paris a bit tired from traveling, as we did. Overall, I don't see how it could have been better.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We arrived and Pierre met us at the flat as arranged. We didnt have to wait or anything, he always responded to our emails promptly and with great courtesy. He showed us the accomodation, had a welcome package ready for us with his recommendations for the area and answered all questions we had. Yes the flat is small... it is a 1 room +bathroom + small kitchenette however it worked perfectly for us. We made use of the bed to sleep, great shower (small) but awesome water pressure and heat and on our last day (today as we write this) we are enjoying our last bottle of wine on his little table by the window looking outside. It really is wonderful. We had free calls to canada as well and wi-fi which worked perfectly. We highly recommend this flat for 1) the AREA which is awesome. One thing we didnt like veyr much was the creaky bed. But we overlooked it and most nights we had so much wine we didnt care about the creakyness. :) amazing restaurants and cafes to grab a drink (also a great boulangerie and wine shop near by) and so much to see and do. Also so close to the metro we were able to see all of paris in 5 days. Philipe thank you so much we had a wonderful stay and anytime you want to visit Toronto please drop me or Adam a line. Also ! We got engaged 3 days ago :) (26&29 y.o. couple from Toronto)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car.
Owner response: Thank you Adam for this review. I will contact you sure when I will come to Toronto. bon voyage et à bientôt, Ph

We arrived and Phillipe met us at the flat with perfect timing, he responds promptly when you contact him. He showed us the flat and had great interest that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The flat is great for two people, as we did not stay inside so much and were out and about the whole time. There are great restaurants with pizza and pastry shops near by to take home food. The security on the flat is also great and made us feel safe. On the first day we got woke up by the school kids, the building across from us was a school. Not to worry because we left and were sightseeing. The laundry mat is 2 or three doors down, the metro is also down the street about 3-5 minute walk. The grocery store near by is great to pick up snacks and store. The bed is comfortable and the cover is warm. The shower had great hot water and pressure. Thank you so much Phillipe for providing excellent customer service and a safe stay for us, we appreciate your effort! Highly recommend this flat to others because Phillipe is great and easy to contact and follows up with his customers to ensure a great stay. =)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I am so happy that you have enjoyed the flat and your sejour. Paris is an amazing city and May one of the most romantic month (if you are lucky not to have the rain ;-))) à bientôt, Philippe

I was very pleased to find Philippe's pied a terre on VRBO. It served as the perfect spot from which to spend my extended stay in Paris. The flat is exactly as pictured...clean, comfortable, sunny and secure. Extremely convenient, it has a Metro stop, grocery stores and restauants all within a 2 minute walk. Philippe was a delight to deal with. He responded quickly to all my e-mails, described the flat accurately in his posting and was more a host than a landlord during my stay. I highly recommend this great spot.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

This apartment was perfect for a recent trip that my husband and I had in Paris. Philippe was a gracious host, and he provided a booklet of places to see, what was nearby, etc. He was always incredibly responsive when we'd email him. For example, we were trying to find an "Orange" store to get our cell phone activated for Paris use. He found the closest one and emailed us the directions promptly. Also, when I mistakenly left behin a beautiful hat I purchased at the store, Merci, Philippe sent it home to me in Austin, TX (thank you, again, Philippe). The photos are accurate - it's small but perfect for two people. It was immaculately maintained inside - very clean bathroom and kitchen. And this apartment was within walking distance of one of our favorite Parisian restaurants, Derriere. If you use the Metro, this apartment was between two really close and really great Metro stops - Metro Reaumur Sebastopol and Metro Arts et Metiers - these will get you almost anywhere in the city. For example, if you want to go to Le Bon Marche, take the Reaumur Sebastopol metro to St. Sulpice (if you don't want to walk).Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Julie for your nice review. I hope we will see you again ! Philippe

My partner and I've been to Paris several times - always staying in a different area. We stumbled upon this place on VRBO.com and from the initial email from Philippe, he had us hooked. This little flat is comfortable, has a roomy bathroom and kitchen, a convenient elevator (rare in Paris) and huge windows that let beautiful sunshine through. The apartment is well-appointed with everything you need to make your stay complete. The sofa quickly and easily folds out into a queen sized bed and is more comfortable than many beds we've slept on. The neighborhood is charming and there are dozens of restaurants within 5 minutes...in fact, one of the best places we dined was 20 steps away. There are abundant grocery stores within a block and the Arts et Metiers Metro stop is 50 yards away. Philippe was available to us for questions throughout our trip and we appreciated the fact that he lives so close. He provides a little notebook at the beginning of the visit with many restaurants, shops in attractions in the area. We are already planning our next trip back and will definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Very nice !!!!!! Thank you a lot to you both ! à bientôt, à Paris, Philippe

My husband and I stayed in Philippe's flat on two occasions, once in Oct. 2011 and once in Dec. 2011 for a total of about two+ weeks. The flat is convenient to several Metro lines and many exceptional restaurants, shops, and museums--such as the superb Musee de la Chasse et de la Nature--are within walking distance. You can actually walk to the Gare de l'Est--we did on several occasions. The rental price is perfect for value-minded, educated travelers who want to stay in a clean and safe environment. A nearby hotel (not a nice one!) quoted a price of 160 Euros per night for two people, but here it's only 90 Euros off-season, which includes free wireless and free phonecalls to the US. PLUS you have a kitchen so you can eat breakfast in the flat (bakeries a block away), and an elevator so you will not have to lug your suitcases up flights of stairs. Lots of privacy too, and the apartment is extremely efficient in its use of space; modern in design; and filled with light. The apartment is pet-friendly and we brought our dog with us both times. Paris welcomes dogs into restaurants, cafes, and shops, but not into museums. Problem solved! A few blocks away is a super doggie day care facility, right next to a vet. We used them daily for an entire week and were able to spend lots of times at the Louvre and the Musee d'Orsay among other places. It was a perfect trip Philippe is a consummate host with perfect English, and went out of his way to help us, advise us, and to make us feel comfortable. He was flexible on check-in and check-out times whenever possible (lots of hotels are not!) and thought of everything--imagine waking up your first morning in Paris and Philippe has made sure there is coffee, filters, and really anything else that you might need. We would definitely stay there again and will recommend the flat to friends and family.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway.
