Looking for peace and privacy on a picturesque island in the San Juans? We have the perfect waterfront hideaway: a charming cottage right on the beach. This 1900's vintage cottage is newly refurbished and provides a cozy and inviting atmosphere with stunning views from the glassed-in "wheelhouse." Watch the boats and ferries come and go as you relax in comfort. Picnic on the lawn while viewing the activity in Harney Channel. Enjoy the resident herons, eagles, cormorants, otters, and seals, and keep a lookout for the occasional whale. Although Shaw Island is considered the "quiet island," it is centrally located in the middle of the San Juans, with ready access to other islands from the ferry landing just steps away from your door. Getting here is easy: drive, bike or walk onto the ferry at Anacortes or come by kayak or boat. Moorage is available right outside the cottage. Our location is so picturesque that we are hosting weddings and special events on the lawn. Book your vacation or event soon!

My wife and I were looking for a quiet little place to stay in the San Juans as a base to kayak from and found this great little cottage. We actually took the Ferry to Lopez Island and paddled over to the little marina at the Shaw Ferry terminal. After checking in with Terri at the Shaw General Store we unloaded our kayaks on the beach in front of the cottage overlooking the small bay and ferry terminal. The cottage was like that old beach house you remember as a kid. Rustic, no-frills, kitchy charm. they've done a good job of maintaining it. A little rough around the edges but the location makes up for it. You could easily walk on the ferry from Anacortes to Shaw and check in at the store with all your weekend stuff. Good for four adults, past that the accommodations get a little rough unless you brought the kids who could camp in the attic loft room.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.
