On the first floor, therefore almost in contact with the lake, is the 'Lario apartment', a spacious(75 square meters) and luminous one bedroom apartment in this enchanting 19th century building, which was once a hotel and has recently been carefully and completely renovated and is now home to many comfortable and elegant apartments.
Situated on the lake road, running along the western shore of Lake Como, the 'Lario apartment' has a large open plan living area, you will love the spacious sunny living area,beautiful stainless steel kitchen and dining area from which, when seated, all you can see is water from the three windows overlooking the lake. The comfortable bedroom has a king-size bed and a walk in closet, there is a roomy bathroom with bathtub and separate shower unit and also a utility room with washer and dryer and a small sink for hand washing.
The building is a beautiful gated building with private underground parking, situated on the boarder of the ancient village of Carate Urio, still unspoiled by modernization, keeping its old world feeling with characteristic streets and stepped lanes crossed by low bridges which join the century old houses.In fact many famous people have decided to make this area their own private paradise, for example Gianni Versace, whose beautiful villa is just 3 kms. south of the Lario apartment and also George Clooney's, delightful lake side home is 1 km north in the village of Laglio.
Everything here is new and has been chosen with great care, there are teak floors in the living area and beautiful Italian tiles in the bathroom. The furnishings, appliances, all linens and dinnerware are also brand new. The simple but tasteful furniture accommodates all tastes and offers our guests everything they need for a comfortable holiday, short break and business trip to Lake Como.

I look after this apartment for a very good friend of mine who bought it as an investment, thinking that he would use it during the summer months. Instead, he finds himself very busy, he is in the silk indursty (Como is the silk capital of Italy) and can hardly use it at all. This is why he decided to rent it for vacation rentals. It is in a very prestigious condo in Carate Urio, closer to George Clooney's home, close to the lake and close to the city of Como, so is convenient for everything.

This is a fabulous place to stay and thank you to my hosts for their assistance and flexibility. The unit is located in a quieter town on the edge of the lake. There is access to banking and shopping but it is away from the bustle. The Urio ferry stop is gloriously quiet and easy to find as are the bus stops - at least in April-May. The apartment is perfectly positioned to allow you to enjoy the lake and the village. The bed is comfortable, the rooms are spacious and the furnishings are tasteful. The kitchen is a joy for those that want to take advantage of the chance to cook for themselves. Special thanks to my Elena who accommodated my many questions and gave me a lift to the train station at short notice. Many thanks for a wonderful holiday I look forward to returning.

My wife & I stayed for 4 nights in April 2011.The apartment is excellent & I would definitely recommend it to any couple.You can dine at home here with wonderful views of the lake.Silvana speaks perfect English and all the arrangments went exactly to plan.There is some road noise from the minor road in front of the apartment although we did not find this an issue (& my wife says I'm very picky about road proximity!) & the bedroom is farther away from the road.Local roads are quite narrow so I would recommend a smallish rental car.The apartment has its own parking space which when you arrive you will realise is a big plus point.By the way Lake Como is magnificent & this is a good location to tour from.If we come back to the area this is the apartment we would want.

We really enjoyed our few days at this villa. It was very quiet & relaxing! The secured gated parking was nice. It was "off season" while we were visiting therefore we had to drive to find resturants and stores that were open this time of the year. It rained the ENTIRE time we were there and we still had a great time! Silvana is so helpful and spoke great English! We will never forget celebrating our 30th anniversary here! The only thing that could have made it perfect was there were not many English speaking tv channels and no intenet service. But we were in Italy and that is not what we were there for. Just having withdrawls. We would highly recommend this villa and any others that Silvanna manages. We do hope to return oneday!

Thank you Silvana for providing such a lovely and comfortable resting place on the edge of Lake Como. My husband and I found the apartment, with secure parking, the perfect location from which to explore Lake Como. From watching the fishermen just outside, preparing a meal in the easy to use kitchen, to grabbing a delicious dinner right next door, your location and facilities could not have been better. And topping all that off with your information booklet as well as personal suggestions, made our stay at Lake Como a delight. I love a place where there are "no surprises!" Just back from our second stay at this fabulous apartment and 3rd stay in this apartment block)! Of course we love it - it is filled with light, spacious, airy, self contained (although we eat next door at the delicious San Bernardo almost every night) and affordable. Carate Urio is so quiet, you can enjoy the view in peace; stroll the local road and take it all in. Only wish this apartment had access to pool & gym.....but for the price and proximity to all things wonderful at Lake Como, not a bad trade off. We'll be back for a 4th visit asap - and a 5th and a 6th and a ....!!!

Dear Silvana. Finally had time to write to you about the apartment. We found the apartment lovely and spacious and very well equipped. The vistas from every room were great, we enjoyed getting up in the morning and viewing the lake and the local neighborhood. The ferry to other towns was just a short drive away and restaurants and stores were very close by. A very enjoyable stay. Thank you, Charlie
