If you've got questions about Kanab, call me. I'm happy to help you enjoy Kanab as much as I do. Even if you don't rent my home. :)
At my home, you'll look out the sliding glass door onto roses, wildflowers, and mature fruit trees, all against the backdrop of the magnificent vermilion cliffs. With no houses behind you, only sagebrush and junipers rolling down to the creek, there's serenity and peace every minute of every day. Unless the resident road runner makes an appearence to glare at you, for he thinks he owns the place. Sit on the backyard deck, and just soak in the sun and surroundings.
These fenced two and a half acres were once home to the Anasazi Indians, and when you walk around the property, you'll find pottery shards from long ago. These acres are now the home to Greyhound Gang - a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and adoption of greyhounds. Do visit our web site to learn more about what we do and why we do it. A portion of your payment will help hounds find forever homes.
Inside, you'll find the warmth and welcome of a home designed for comfort for you and your pet. Your main living area features far views of the cliffs, east and west. Near views are of bunnies and birds, who expect you to leave seed out for their pleasure. If you do find yourself indoors, there are two comfy couches, one overstuffed chair, a chaise lounge, a flat screen TV with Dish Network in the main living area. Bring your computer as there is a free wireless connection.
Two lovingly furnished bedrooms, with comfort in mind, are off the main area. There are two bathrooms, each has tub and shower, with towel warmers as an extra special indulgence.
If you are bringing well behaved, housebroken dogs with you, their creature comforts will be more than well met. Many friends have commented they want to come back in the next lifetime as one of my hounds. There is a dog door to the deck, which has a ramp for older and smaller dogs. Sharing the furniture is allowed, if covers (which I provide) are used. The back yard, which is accessed through the dog door, or sliding glass door, has 1.5 acres fenced. The front yard has a separate 1.5 fenced acres.
Kanab is centrally located to many natural wonders. Zion, Grand Canyon North Rim and Bryce National Parks and Lake Powell are less than 1.5 hours away. Coral Pink Sand Dunes and other state and national treasures are also close by. Incredible hikes are minutes away - The Wave and more. And of course, Best Friends Animal Society is 15 minutes away and is the premier no-kill animal society in the world. It's not to be missed.
This is my personal home, a 3 minute drive from the quaint town of Kanab. I'll be away May - December, 2013, so I'm opening it to others knowing they will fall in love with Kanab and the surrounding area, while enjoying all the comforts of home.
Specials - the longer you stay, the less you pay. Since this is my private home, I do ask for a personal phone conversation before booking. Call me. We'll talk.

Truly a perfect house for my dogs and me! I traveled with four dogs this trip, and they loved the yard, the open floor plan, and all the toys! :) Of course, I enjoyed the house as well! Everything was as good as expected or even better. The house was very clean, well maintained, and very well appointed. We had everything we needed, and I very much appreciate the trust placed in me and my dogs in allowing us to stay there. Thank you so much, Claudia! Great talking with you and working with you! Hope to be back again--my family would like to join me next time! :)Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We walked in the door and immediately relaxed! We loved this place and all it provided! Our dogs were amazed by all the backyard adventures they could experience! This house is in a perfect location for volunteering at Best Friends, very convenient but remote enough for some peace and quiet. Thanks again for allowing us to stay in your lovely home!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners.

We had a fantastic time staying here with our dogs at Claudia's beautiful property. The house is wonderful and has everything you could possibly need, and the pups were in 7th heaven exploring the huge yard and sunning on the deck. I highly recommend staying here if you have the chance and I hope I'm able to return!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

I've traveled to the area a lot, and really enjoyed staying at this property rather than a motel. I got to bring my dog and she enjoyed the couches as much as I did. The large, fenced yard is accessible via dogdoor which meant I could sightsee without worrying about her getting into trouble or ruining anything. The rooms were large, clean and well provided. It is easily accessible to the town of Kanab (a five minute drive) but is away from town enough to be quiet and spacious.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners, families with young children.

I have stayed here several times & each time gets better. The house is decorated with a warm southwestern theme, very clean, lots of room & very kid & dog friendly. The fenced in back yard is huge with lots of play room for all. We loved sitting on the deck in the evening drinking wine & watching the orange & red sunsets. The town of Kanab is charming & very friendly. Don't miss Rocking V's & the cinema. VERY convenient to several National Parks including Zion, Bryce, & the Grand Canyon. The pictures don't do this property justice. Claudia was wonderful. She left us lots of literature on the surrounding area & great recommendations for some memorable day trips. (We loved Lake Powell & the kids were wild about Best Friends.) We plan on returning next year with friends.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My band, Earl Greyhound, has stayed at Claudia's ranch a handful of times over the last few years while on tour, and I can't say enough good things about this place. The house itself is warm, cozy and inviting, you'll feel right at home the moment you cross the threshold. The views of the landscape from inside and out are completely breathtaking, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place to stay in and around Kanab!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Kanab is one of those hidden gems you'd like to keep to yourself but just can't stop yourself from shouting about. We thought it was wonderful before we ever went because it's home to Best Friends Animal Society, where volunteers can do just about anything from socializing puppies, grooming cats and walking dogs (and pigs) to giving cockatoos a shower. Then we discovered that the little town, which correctly bills itself as "The Greatest Earth on Show," offers all sorts of surprises, including two -- count 'em, two -- movie theaters, an old-time frontier town, an orchestra, an art gallery, and such yummy restaurants as Rewind Diner, Rocking V Cafe, Escobar's and Nedra's Too. Best of all, Kanab has Claudia, whose house on a hill above the town is the perfect place to get away from it all while still being in the middle of it all -- the nearby national parks and natural wonders that Claudia describes. Claudia's photos don't convey the comfort and coziness of her house, not to mention the things that make it such fun (the flamingo bathroom always gives me giggles, and her home theater set-up makes it easy to stay in and chill out). Of course, our dogs adore the three fenced-in acres to run in, the sunny deck to sleep on, and the dog door for coming and going as they please. When we're there -- and we've stayed there at least three times -- we feel like like we've died and gone to heaven. Frankly, we can't figure out why Claudia ever leaves.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property for our family vacation. What a beautiful location, and perfect for day trips to Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Lake Powell, and the Grand Canyon. This lovely home had everything we could ask for, and made our stay so enjoyable. Having all the comforts of home spoiled us, and we would definitely stay there again for our next vacation. Five stars and no complaints.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners, families with young children.

staying at claudia's is my favorite getaway each year. this feb. will be my 4th return trip. it is my sanity saver, and chance to decompress from the big city rush, hassles and traffic. the property and views are breathtaking. the sereneness and quiet are priceless. the comfort level inside the very spacious house is a 10. everything is provided for ~ a home away from home, but so much better. and for those of us crazy dog lovers, claudia's property is a very secure 3 acres. divided into the front half and the back half, all fenced. so much wonderful open space for a dog to explore and romp. and, every canine detail is provided for, and then some! and, of course there is the the animal sanctuary, just 5 miles north. what initially drew me to the area. but, the proximity to the canyons is also an off the charts bonus. zion, bryce, the north rim, to name but a few. an animal and nature lover could not ask for a more perfect home to call their own, even if just for a week or so. if you're considering a trip to a peaceful, beautiful and oh so comfortable destination, i can't say enough about claudia's amazing property. you won't be disappointed.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: I was a Type A, East Coast Corporate kind of gal, who didn't want my tombstone to read - She was the best employee xxx ever had. So I chucked it all, including my Karmann Ghia convertible, and bought a Chevy Silverado pickup, hauling a camper trailer, and headed West. I stopped in Kanab, and 19 years...I'm still here. Home to me and Greyhound Gang. Best place on Earth.
Why the Owner Chose Kanab:
This is my personal home. Economic times have determined finding creative ways to pay the mortgage. So that's why you get to stay in a beautiful home for less than a hotel's rates.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Popcorn machine.
Towel warmers in each bathroom.
Memory foam topper on beds.
Unobstructed view of vermilion cliffs from every window.
Resident rabbits, quail, road runner.
Three, fenced acres, with dog door and deck for happy dogs.
Private home, so fully appointed as such.
