We loved our stay at the Waukazoo Cottage. Very well kept and cozy. Kitchen well equipped. We enjoyed our early morning walk through the wooded neighborhood though it was a bit chilly that week-end. Overall an excellent experience and look forward to spending time again at the Waukazoo!Owner response: Thank you for this review of Waukazoo Cottage! We're so glad you loved your time at "The Wauk" and we hope to have you back again soon!

We had such a wonderful overnight stay at Waukazoo Cottage. We started our time in Holland with brunch at deBoer Bakery and then spent the rest of the afternoon at the beach at the State Park. After going to the cottage, we enjoyed swinging in the hammock and then got cleaned up for dinner. The cottage was so cozy, we wished we would have bought food to just stay in and cook in the adorable kitchen. However, we decided to try out the 8th Street Grille, which had WONDERFUL sandwiches and AMAZING dessert (we especially enjoyed the bread pudding)!! We headed back to the cottage after meandering around downtown and sat in the backyard watching the stars for a while before heading in to watch the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics. After a restful night of sleep, we went for a walk around the neighborhood, ate breakfast on the deck, then went to the Farmer's Market. If you are in Holland on a Saturday, I recommend going to the Farmer's Market!! So fun. Lunch was at Curragh Irish Pub where we sat outside in the sunshine to eat our tasty food. We went back to the beach in the afternoon and concluded our weekend away with blueberry picking at Reenders Blueberry Farm. HIGHLY recommend this if you're in Holland during blueberry season! We had a very full 36 hours, and we were so grateful for a wonderful, clean, comfortable place to get refreshed! We would very much recommend Waukazoo Cottage to anyone staying in the Holland area!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: We're so glad you enjoyed your time at Waukazoo Cottage! Thank you for sharing this review. We look forward to having you back, as our guests, in the future.

My husband and I just returned a few days ago from a weekend at Waukazoo. The cottage is so inviting, cozy and very clean. We had plenty of room to spread out with large closets. Though it was a rainy weekend, we still could enjoy the great restaurants and shops in adorable downtown Holland. It is just a short drive to the state park beach where we witnessed 2 fisherman each pull out a 12 -14 lb salmon within a 15 minute span of time! Even though the weather wasn't ideal, the beach was beautiful as we watched the clouds over Lake Michigan and even saw a water spout way off in the distance. (That is when we decided to head back to the cottage!) The neighborhood was very quiet and lovely with cute little black squirrels running around. Though we didn't get to use them, the hammock, fire ring, outdoor shower, and grill were very nice! We look forward to returning and enjoying some of the many outdoor activities offered and available at the cottage. Thank you Tim and Julie! Your cottage is wonderful and blessed our hearts and souls!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This cottage was perfect for our family of four. Our two daughters--ages 7 and 12--loved choosing "their" rooms and exploring the beach gear-filled garage and huge back yard. Of course they loved the hammock and fire pit for making s'mores. Thanks to the cleanliness, lovely decorating and extra touches (such as the cool chalkboard-walled kitchen!), we all felt right at home at Waukazoo cottage. All the beds were very comfortable and it was great to have a washer/dryer and dish washer. The only slight negative was that the smallest bedroom does not have a window a/c unit and thus became quite stuffy, even when we ran the a/c units in the other bedrooms and left the doors open. Even with fans, my daughter did, on our final night with was very hot, have to move onto the living room sofa where the a/c from the other bedrooms could reach her. But that was just a small glitch--our family had a fabulous time at Waukazoo and look forward to hopefully coming back next summer!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for your feedback. We're happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Waukazoo Cottage. Thanks for mentioning the issue with the smaller bedroom. This is something we've taken care of now- so it will be comfortable and cool for our guests in the future. Waukazoo Cottage owners- Tim & Juile

We really enjoy our stay at Waukazoo Cottage. The owner was very nice and easily accessible- we had all of our questions answered and then some. The cottage is lovely and has everything that’s needed. Kitchen is adorable and we all absolutely LOVED the front porch! Oh, the hammock…. How relaxing! We were concerned that AC window units may not be enough (we’re spoiled by the central AC), but everything was just fine. It’s located close to the beach and both Holland State and Holland Tunnel Park. There are a lot of small roads and sidewalks, so we could drive our bikes a lot. It’s affordable and cozy – definitely on our list of favorites rentals.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We absolutely LOVED Waukazoo Cottage. We spent so much time on the front porch as a family and it was a great space for my husband and me to hang out together after our daughter had gone to bed. The lantern lights were perfect. Also, having a full (and super cute) kitchen helped us keep costs down and we took advantage of the grill and fire pit for cooking dinners. The location is very convenient and close to the beach, grocery stores, and other sites like restaurants, the Dutch Village, etc. Having a washer and dryer available 24/7 was priceless. Oh, the hammock was a family favorite as well. The owners gave us so much information before and during our stay that helped make our trip even more enjoyable. In the living room we found a wealth of formation on the area that we used almost daily for planning our activities. Our favorite spot was Ottawa Beach and it took us less than ten minutes to get there. Also, we enjoyed walking through historic Ottawa Woods as we took family walks around the neighborhood. We hope to return to Waukazoo Cottage many times as our 6-year-old grows up. Thank you for the perfect family vacation!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a great time at Waukazoo cottage. The front porch was very peaceful and inviting. We spent a number of hours reading on the porch and relaxing. The cottage is close to the wonderful downtown area. Plenty of shopping and restaurants. Also close to Holland State Park and beach. Also you'll want to visit Captain Sundae for an ice cream treat. We will definitely return!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We enjoyed a few days here during a Spring stay in Holland, MI. When it was sunny, the front porch was quite a pleasant place to relax. The cottage is nicely decorated and the owners are very helpful by providing printed information about the Holland area. The only downside was the size of the stand-alone shower for me. My 6 ' 4", large build body was a bit cramped while showering. For those looking for a bath, look elsewhere. Even so, we'd rent it again if it was available during our next trip to Holland, MI.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We just returned from a 2 week stay at Waukazoo cottage and wish we could turn around and go right back! Everything about it was charming...especially the front porch where we spent a majority of our time. The cottage is nestled in a lovely neighborhood on the shores of Lake Macatawa and just minutes from the sandy beach of Lake Michigan. Everything was spotless and decorated beautifully. Holland is a gem and we spent a lot of time meandering in and out of shops and restaurants when we weren't at the beach or playing golf at nearby courses. I highly recommend Waukazoo Cottage and the Holland area for a fun, relaxing vacation. Thank you Julie and Tim! We hope to stay in your lovely home again soon!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

What a great place! From the awesome sun porch (our favorite feature of the house) to the amazing forest that the neighborhood is nestled in, we had a wonderful time at Waukazoo Cottage. The backyard is fenced in, and has a serious grill that we used several times. We appreciated the wifi connection, the air conditioning, and the effort that has been made to decorate everything so nicely. The state park beach is only a few minutes away, and the shores of lake Macatawa are even closer. We enjoyed shopping in Holland and Grand Haven too. Thanks so much for sharing Waukazoo Cottage!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: My husband and I grew up in Illinois, but we LOVE being near the water! We escape to a beach whenever we can. We were thrilled to discover Holland Michigan several years ago when we were looking for a great way to celebrate our Anniversary. We spent the weekend in Holland and just loved the area and Lake Michigan. We came back several times and always felt like we had found a wonderful Midwestern secret in Holland. When our family recently discussed summer vacation destinations, everyone agreed that a BEACH was just what we wanted. So we introduced our daughters to Holland, Michigan and they loved it as much as we did! We recently made the decision to invest in a second home and Holland was the perfect spot. We look forward to many years of enjoying and sharing the beauty of Holland and our beloved Cottage.
Why the Owner Chose Holland:
We love the area of Western Michigan, and specifically Holland! The beauty of Lake Michigan and the surrounding area has made it a place we've returned to again and again. The friendliness of the people of Holland makes it an even more enjoyable place to visit.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Waukazoo Cottage is situated in a beautiful, wooded area of Holland, just steps away from Lake Macatawa. The beauty and peacefulness of the area makes it a very desireable location. Being just two miles from Lake Michigan allows for easy access to one of the best beaches in the area. Waukazoo Cottage... a perfect spot for some rest and relaxation!
