The house is located on the 4th hole of the Shamokin Golf Course in the Stoney Creek valley of Wintergreen Resort. You will have the convenience of the Valley Resort with close proximity to shopping, 2 microbreweries and 8 wineries and just 2 miles from summer fun at Lake Monocan. A 15 minute drive and you are at mountain resort entrance.
Stoney Creek is conveniently located near the lake, brew pubs, wineries, shops & restaurants plus more golf than the mountain with 27 holes.

The online readers of The Washington Post have twice named Wintergreen as the "Best Ski Resort". The resort offers Virginia's largest tubing park along with 6 chairlifts and 2 extremely fast "6 pack" lifts so you can spend more time on the slopes.
*Golf:
Wintergreen Resort was named to GOLF Magazine's 1996 list of Silver Medal Resorts. The Stoney Creek Course is a 27-hole track that you can play in three eighteen hole combinations: Monocan / Shamokin, Monocan / Tuckahoe, and Shamokin / Tuckahoe. This course features several forced carries over several streams and Lake Monocan (Look for my ball while your there). The scenery is breathtaking, with many views of the surrounding mountains from the rolling, tree lined fairways. The greens are large (average 5,000 square feet) undulating, and fast. The Monocan nine has more forgiving tee shots, (really?) and the Shamokin nine is the tightest nine. The Tuckahoe nine is the most scenic, with many elevation changes and breathtaking panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The house is located along the 4th hole on the Shamokin course, 150 yards from the pin. You can take advantage of some late afternoon practice while you're there.
*Summer Activities:
Lake Monocan the 20-acre lake and park is also located in Stoney Creek in the valley, staffed daily with a lifeguard, Memorial Day-Labor Day, weather permitting. Snack bar, paddleboats, canoes, kayaks, fishing equipment, standard road bike rentals, horseshoe pits, sand volleyball court, sandy beach, lounge chairs, picnic area and outdoor charcoal grills are available. Last year they also had a water trampoline that my kids loved. There are also two separate swimming pools and a secret natural waterslide located in valley.
*Exclusive
With our Guest Passes you will have EXCLUSIVE access to the Fitness Center & Indoor pool year round along with admission to the lake on Saturdays during the summer because on that day Lake Monocan is only open to Members, Guests of Members and Wintergreen Resort guests. We will provide you with Guest of Member passes for the length of your stay.

The home is located in the heart of Virginia wine country so take advantage of the wine tastings at the local wineries. More of a beer drinker? Venture along the "Brew Ridge Trail" with two new microbreweries within a 10 minute drive.
Wintergreen offers 27 holes of golf in the valley with 2 swimming pools and tennis. Stoneycreek is also where Lake Monocan is located. Families can go to the lake for a day of picnicing, swimming, canoeing, tubing and other activities. You will be within a 15 minute drive to the mountain resort for skiing, tubing, ice skating, tennis, swimming, zip-lining, kids activities and another 18 holes of golf and restaurants. Cozy up by the fireplace or relax on the back deck surrounded by nature. Feel free to take a leisurely walk on the golf course when golfers are not present, accessed from the home's private path. A short walk to the end of the street will take you to the nature trail where you can explore the banks of Stoneycreek.

The Resort has two parts the mountain and the valley. They are the same resort but require a car to drive between the two areas.

My family loves to take advantage of all that Wintergreen has to offer. Some of our favorite activities are swimming and canoeing at Lake Monocan in the summer and tubing on the mountain in the winter. I also occasionally get to break away for golf on the championship caliber golf courses.
