We rented this property for the Thanksgiving Holiday spent with family and friends. From the moment we walked in we felt at home. It is tip-top shape and very clean. All of the bedrooms are comfortable and the baths are of a nice size. It is helpful to have (2) 1/2 baths so if someone is using the shower in the other bathroom, there is still bathrooms available for use. We did not use the porch or outdoor shower because of the weather but they did look inviting. This is a nice large property, and I imagine it is especially nice in warm weather because there is so much space out-of-doors. We had plenty of space just using the indoor area. The kitchen and dining areas are large with enough room for the 11 people in our party. There is a large pantry that is very well supplied. We lacked nothing. The trains didn't bother anyone, but we also did not have windows open. The two living rooms were handy, as one room was the TV room and the other was used for games. We never got around to lighting a fire in the large fireplace, but there was abundant wood available for use if we had wanted. The owners are very helpful and always answer calls quickly. We had a wonderful time there and will definitely return!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

I read the reviews and was troubled by the comment about the noise from the train and the treacherous path to the beach. Don"t let this prevent you from renting this absolutely, wonderfully charming farmhouse. The trains occurred but twice during the day (i kind of enjoyed their noise). There are several paths to the beach and one that is not at all difficult for these stiff old bones. Stairs are long, but can be taken in a delightfully slow manner so as to enjoy the view. From the paintings on the wall, the eclectic library, and the impressive fabrics thru out the home, you will not be disappointed. Stay here and have a lasting memory that will bring a smile to your face.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This home is beautiful and very inviting! The dining table comfortably sat our group of 10, so we were able to enjoy meals together. The open layout kept everyone included in the activities. We enjoyed the fireplace every day. The grounds are lovely with many areas to enjoy including an outdoor fire pit. The decor is wonderful and the owners very responsive. Our group would love to come again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

The house was almost everything you could ask for in a vacation home - many air conditioned bedrooms with comfortable beds, great chef's kitchen, spacious living for several families, updated bathrooms, wonderful outdoor deck and huge yard. BUT we were uninformed about the train track that runs through the front yard (literally cutting through the driveway, ~100 feet away). This train track had regularly-scheduled passenger and cargo trains that ran during the day and in the middle of the night, numerous times. The day-time schedule was easy to deal with (and quite exciting for youngsters) but the night-time trains were another story. The combination of piercing horns and house vibrations for many minutes as each went by, 3 times every night (except Sunday night), made for sleepless nights. And we're not talking about 10 pm, more like 1, 3, 5 am. If you are a sound sleeper, then you can disregard this train information and the house will be perfect for you. But unfortunately, some of us spent our entire week of vacation in a daze because of the lack of sleep. In no way do we want to discourage other people from renting this house. However, we do feel that this fact should be disclosed to potential renters because it was a major issue for us.Owner response: This is our second year renting and this is the first complaint about the train. The rental agreement states that our 12 acre property is accessed by a private railroad crossing. Discussions about the train are always had with potential renters. The number of trains mentioned are exagerated. Pease call us for more info and the address of the property so you can google earth it and be informed.

We felt right at home the minute we walked into the spacious, beautifully decorated farmhouse. The owners were easy to work with and the house was immaculately clean...even better than we expected! The kitchen was exceptionally well stocked and we loved browsing through the variety of ethnic cookbooks on hand. The large dining area made mealtimes so much fun and the open deck - with hot tub - was a favorite gathering place for our family. Sleeping arrangements were perfect and the bedrooms were bright and cheerfully decorated. We appreciated the privacy the house and yard provided and our 2 dogs had a great time exploring the property. It was a short walk to the beach each day and we all agreed Lake Michigan was better than the ocean. It was so clean and salt-free! We enjoyed some of the other area attractions like golf, skeet shooting and fishing...there was definitely something for everyone! We had one of our best family vacations ever, felt right at home and definitely plan to return!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Great time, will definitely go back to this place! Been to 4 different places now in MI and this one is right at the top of the list. HUGE yard for the kids to play, woods with trails were a lot of fun as well. House is gorgeous, and lots of room for kids to run around. We research all of the different places fairly extensively, and felt good about this place before we got there, but this place exceeded what we expected.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We came over from IL after Thanksgiving dinner, and settled right in! The house was delightful and spacious enough for reading, talking and playing games together. There was also enough space for all 10 of us to spread out- a rarity in a vacation rental. The bedroom wing is a perfect addition to the house, even sporting a second living room for the home! Each night we liked winding down by the fireplace, sitting in the hot tub, reading and talking. Someone was always playing the piano, and the free firewood allowed us to have a fire going all the time during our visit. We also enjoyed the fire pit in the back yard and the deck overlooking the bird feeders. The dining area in the home has plenty of seating and a beautiful candle chandelier, and the kitchen has an open layout and was easy to use. The bathrooms are gorgeous, with walk-in showers with rain shower heads. The beach is a short walk through a cottage neighborhood. Getting down to the beach was difficult for my 88 year old parents, but was no problem for anyone else in the group. We were delighted how amazing the house is and easy the renter was to work with. We loved it and definitely hope to be back!- Soon! Phyllis, Bob Steve, Susan, Lucinda, Adam, Amanda, Jeff and DebbieRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
