The "Refnest" is located in the highly desirable neighborhood of Chamberlands on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe, just past Homewood and Homewood Ski Resort.
The "Refnest" is a 4000 square foot family cabin, custom built by owner contractor in 1997. The cabin was designed with large family gatherings in mind. The expansive greatroom features a large stone, wood-burning fireplace, with comfortable furnishings for tv viewing, reading, and table games. The outdoor deck, off the greatroom, is a great place for summer dining, bird watching, or sunbathing. The fully equipped modern kitchen features a large island with stone countertops and seating for six, a dining table that accommodates ten, and abundant empty cabinet space, including a pantry for renter's supplies. The master suite, with King Bed, has plenty of room for additional young children, and a full bathroom next door. All of the above are on the top entry level of the home.
The downstairs contains 5 bedrooms: one king, 2 queens, and 2 bunkrooms with 4 beds each. One of these bunkrooms has a game area with tv and foosball for the kids. There are two full bathrooms, with a common vanity area, and a washer and dryer in the laundry area. There is an exterior door that leads to the beautifully landscaped backyard.
The driveway accomodates 4 cars in the winter, and in the summer months parking is available on the side parking area as well as on the street. The garage is also available when the ping-pong table is not in use.
In the summer months, the cabin is a short walk to our "members only" private beach at Chamber's Landing. Visitors can also enjoy the public sandy beach & pier at Chamber's Landing.
If you prefer a ride to the beach, there is a neighborhood shuttle bus that will pick you up in front of our door, which runs on the half-hour. Our location offers easy access to the bike trail which is a block away, and Tahoe City offers River Rafting on the Truckee River. There is a boat launch at Obexer's Marina in Homewood, and also at Meeks Bay.
In the winter months, the cabin is a short drive to local ski areas such as: Homewood (1 mile), Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, and Northstar. If you prefer XC skiing, Sugar Pine Point has beautiful trails about 3 miles south.
This large family style cabin is perfect for family reunions, retreats, and small groups, excluding weddings and youth group activities.
Keywords: spacious, large modern kitchen, sizable greatroom, garage, private beach membership, walking distance to the lake, large backyard for games, nearby skiing, bike trails, boating, hiking.

We rented the Refnes home over Labor Day weekend of 2012. We wanted to find a place that would suit several families comfortably to have a 50th BDay celebration. We were all very pleased with the Refnes rental, it is a lovely place for families and friends. There were 8 adults and 8 kids in our group and we all fit comfortably at the home. We had several other families over for dinner one night and there still was plenty of room. We also loved the location near the beach, Homewood, and Tahoma, very convenient to activities. Wish there were some cruiser bikes to take out and ride around but at least there's a bike rental within a mile. Everyone in our group agreed it's a house we'd love to come back to. And owners seem very nice!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.

After coming back to Chamberlands each summer for a family vacation for the past 30 years, it seems like we have tried most of the rentals that would best accomodate our family. Over the years our needs have changed going through different stages with our kids and their friends and now our adult childeren and our grandchildren. This house has everything that you will need for a great vacation. Lots of room, wonderful kitchen and great room, lots of toys for adults and kids, rooms perfect for kids sleeping or playing and a beautiful outdoor area in back with a lawn. Walking distance to the beach is a plus.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

The house is BIG! We had multiple families and friends visiting Lake Tahoe and we are lucky to find this beautiful house. Lot's of rooms, game room, bunk beds and good for even 20 people! I like the house more than Lake Tahoe!!! The owner of the house is very friendly and very helpful. Pros: Large House Table Tennis @ Garage Game room with foosball table Big rooms Lot's of Beds Big Kitchen Neutral: I expected to see was Big LCD/LED TV, but was not there. But that's not a big deal as there are two TVs. Since the house is too big, it takes time for heater to make the rooms warm. OVERALL - PERFECT HOUSE for a PERFECT VACATION. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.

I have been renting this house with a group of family and friends for the past 9 years, and it has become a much anticipated tradition within my group. The house is furnished with all the modern amenities and has a wonderful layout for entertaining, eating with large groups, and just relaxing in the light and bright great room. The house has huge vaulted ceilings, with large windows that give a wonderful view of the trees, yard and peek a boo view of the lake. The chambers shuttle is a convenient way to get to Chamberlands beach or you can walk in about 10 minutes. There are many activities to enjoy: the beach, biking to River Ranch or Sunnyside, hiking, or just enjoying a good book in the hammock. The house has a large deck that overlooks the yard and is a pleasant place to enjoy dinner or just hang out with family and friends. The house is laid out such that even if you are with a large group, there are many areas on different levels to enjoy, so you can always find some peace and quiet. The owners have been wonderful to rent from over the years and they are very responsive to any questions. I can't recommend the Refnest highly enough, to any potential visitors.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.
