We arrived in Carillon to find that the cuckoo's nest had everything we could ask for! A great location with all the amenities needed and more. Our toddler loved the bunk rooms and we all enjoyed watching the sunsets from both the beach and the observation area! Can't wait to come back to the Cuckoo's nest when we travel back to Florida! The owners provided board games, beach toys, bikes, beach chairs, you name it! SO happy to have found the Cukoo's nest!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

This was our first visit to Carillon Beach and definately won't be our last. The Cuckoo's Nest was perfect for our family with 3 children (15, 12, and 2). Our 15 year old son took the main floor bedroom which gave him his own space as it is in the back of the house, while we took the 2nd floor master bedroom. Each our girls had their own bunkroom on the 2nd floor, which they loved. Our 2 year old slept in the pack-n-play that was provided and fit perfectly in the bunkroom. They also provided a highchair which meant one less thing for us to cram in to the minivan. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook meals (and we cooked all our meals but 2 during our week stay). The main floor living room was spacious and plently of seating for all us and room for our 2 year old to play. The 3rd floor lookout was a favorite spot to hangout, read books, and breathe in the fresh gulf air! The house was spotless, beds comfortable, tons of bath towels for the 5 of us, and extra pillows and blankets. We enjoyed having the bikes, all the beach and pool toys, boogie boards, gas grill, and patio table with umbrella. The house is super close to the beach walkover which made running back and forth a breeze. Loved that our beach chairs and umbrella were set up every morning that were included with our rental. Bonus that there is a restroom under the beach walkover! The weather was a little chilly the first few days, but that didn't matter since the pool by the park was heated (and when I say heated I mean warm enough you could swim in it no matter what the temp is outside) and only a short walk from the house. The owners were quick in responding to our reservation request, answered all our questions promptly, and returned our deposit in less than a week after we checkout. Our only suggestion would be to add curtains to the 2nd floor bedroom that could be drawn at night to keep out the morning light as we tend to sleep in a bit on vacation. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful vacation home with us!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.

Our family of 7 had a wonderful and memorable vacation at the Cuckoo's Nest. We felt so comfortable and welcome from the moment we arrived. We rode the bikes that were provided with the house, walked to the beach and pools and enjoyed sitting on the porches in the rocking chairs enjoying the ocean breeze. It was a short walk to Castaways, where we ate our first night there. Publix was super close and easy to get to. The parks were a great place for our 4 year old twins to play. We used to grill to cook out. Everything about his vacation was perfect. We are looking forward to spending another family vacation at the Cuckoo's Nest! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.Recommended for: Families with young children.

We all enjoyed our week in Carillon. The Cuckoo’s Nest was cozy, clean and comfortable. It had a warm and inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The proximity to the pools, beach and downtown area was great! We enjoyed watching beautiful sunsets from the 3rd floor. The big porches made even the rainy days enjoyable. Loved drinking coffee and reading on the porch. No one was ready to leave. The whole experience from booking the house to receiving the refund deposit was simple and timely. Would definitely recommend this house.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We just returned from a week's stay at the Cuckoo's Nest. We are a family of 4 (kids ages 5 and 8). It was an absolutely wonderful week. The house was very clean and well maintained. The location within Carillon can't be beat - steps from the beach, close to the pool, tennis and town center. We've stayed in several homes within Carillon, all good experiences, but this was the best. And the owners were very communicative and responsive. I would highly recoommend this house to, especially if you have kids.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

When we arrived to Carillon beach we knew it was something special. Gorgeous, quiet, gated community with great personality. The Cuckoo's Nest condo was just as advertised. Clean, spacious, with full amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Large front yard deck on the bottom floor and another deck on 2nd floor with lots of seating. It has an ample kitchen with all the amenities. Two separate bedrooms with bathrooms, and bunkbed rooms that worked great for the kiddos. The actual Cuckoos's nest up the spiral staircase offered great views out on another deck and a nice retreat in the evenings to drink wine for the adults. :) There were sand toys, floats, and lots of other things in the outdoor closet on the back porch which was a great touch. The thing we probably enjoyed the most was the 4 bicycles in the closet for our use. We spent a lot of time circling the neighborhood which was very safe for the kids due to no thru traffic in the neighborhood. Outdoor shower was on the backporch which made getting sand off us and toys a breeze. The beach is very close with very easy access. Beach was as beautiful as any on the Gulf coast. Large swimming pool just down the street which could be accessed from the beach or the street. It overlooked the ocean. Kids loved it. There were large comfy chairs under the covered porch at the pool for the adults to watch kids swim which we used at night a lot. Condo was really close to grocery stores and lots of restaurants. Can't say enough about the Cuckoo's Nest. It was really an enjoyable stay, and will return for sure!!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful week in Carillon. The Cuckoo’s Nest was perfect for our family. The kids loved the bunkrooms and the 3rd story look-out. Everything we needed was provided. We also enjoyed riding the bikes!! The location was also a plus. Being so close to the beach made it easy to come and go for all of us. We hope it is the first of many trips!!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+.

When we got out of the car after a 16 hour drive, we were greeted with a deck in bad need of a paint job. The cushions on the chairs at the outdoor table were split open with large visible holes. There were 2 empty tanks sitting next to the gas grill. There was a large styrofoam cooler laying on its side with the inside dirty. We immediately put that out in the trash. We always look forward to grilling and eating outside during our stays at Carrillon, so it was a disappointment to not have a working grill. After inquiring about needing gas for the grill, were told we needed to purchase a new tank so that is what we did. The next 20 or so families that rent the home will now have a working grill compliments on us.The inside of the house was beautiful but the white woodwork and trim were in need of a good dusting. The white ceiling fans in the entire house were so covered in black dust, that we purchased a swiffer duster and cleaned them. The glass vases on the dining table were very visibly in need of a cleaning and would be very unappetizing to eat by. So, I moved them during our stay. Lastly, the glassware cabinet in the kitchen had a sour smell. We chose to hand wash each glass before using it due to the offensive odor in the cabinet. We have stayed in a different beach house 5 out of the 6 years that we have visited Carrillon. We have never been disappointed with our choice of home until this year.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Dear John, We were sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your stay at The Cuckoo's Nest. We will be in Carillon this week and will address your concerns and also share them with the property manager and the cleaning service. Your feedback is appreciated and will be used to help us better serve future renters. Blessings, Cheryl Engelkes

Total relaxation in a home away from home. Love the house, very comfortable, love accents especially family photos! From minute we arrived everything was perfect. Private beach a big plus. Everynight watched sunset from the cuckoo's nest one of our favorite places in the house. Can not say enough about the area. Our first time to this area and we are hooked can't wait to go back. The location of the house made access to beach or multiple pools so easy. Great vacation !!!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: My husband Jack and I are from Conway, AR. Our youngest two daughters are 16 and 18. When they graduate, we hope to become permanent residents of Carillon.
Why the Owner Chose Carillon Beach:
We have vacationed in Florida every summer for the past 24 years. Our oldest daughter got married at Carillon in 2009, and we instantly fell in love with the community. We knew immediately that Carillon is where we wanted to retire. We purchased the house in September of 2010. Until we can live here full time, we want to share our 'nest' with others who will hopefully love it as much as we do.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love walking on the beach and enjoying the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Our teenagers enjoy the amazing shopping and dining at Pier Park, just 15 minutes away. If you are ready for a full day of shopping, head to Silver Sands Factory Outlets, the nation's largest designer outlet center with over 100 designer brand stores. Carillon has 3 beautiful pools, a playground, tennis courts, restaurants, and much more.
