This is a great location within the park. The house was very comfortable for 4 adults and 3 children. We were within walking distance of stores for the teenagers and right by Lake McDonald. This made the ideal base to get around the entire park. We shopped in Kalispell at the Superwalmart and the kitchen had most of the utensils we commonly use. The only downside we encountered and it was minor was in dealing with Isaac Walton Inn for the reservation. Having them offsite and not always aware of what might be happening added a little confusion when the owner was not immediately available. Again, this was very minor, but that was our only negative. We would stay here again and would recommend it. If you have trouble climbing stairs, this could be a challenging rental, as the house entrance is on the second floor, but once there, there are 2 bedrooms on the main floor.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We loved staying at the Apgar House. We didn't have to wait in lines to get into the park. The house was very comfortable for our two families of four adults and three teenagers. We liked being in the Apgar village and within walking distance to McDonald Lake. We did our grocery shopping in Whitefish at Walmart and Costco for the week. The kitchen had almost everything we needed, except sharp knives and a blender. There was a shortage of bath towels. We did have satellite TV, but no WiFi. also in walking distance of transit center for park buses. Will stay here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Why the Owner Chose West Glacier:
We bought this house when we bought Eddie's Cafe, Gifts, & Ice-Cream shop, so our family could be together & enjoy the perks of working in Glacier National Park.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Apgar House, being located inside the park and near Lake McDonald allows me and my family the unique opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the park without the standard tourist traps. Those being the sometimes long car lines to get through the entrance, especially the parking as Apgar Village is the most visited area of the park. Having the house off the main section affords us the privacy we seek, yet it's only steps away from all the park activities and the trails.
