Location is a real plus: when we were looking for land to build the house, we chose this Community because we wanted to make sure that our own family had a great time when visiting Antigua. If you check a map of Antigua look for the main entrance from Guatemala City: we are located 3 blocks North on Calle de los Duelos and then half block East within walking distance to Central Park.
Study Spanish at home (or at School close to Central Park) with one of the most prestigious schools in Town.
The house is of newer construction following colonial architecture code with a few artisan details that you will enjoy. The bedrooms are disjoint, separated by an open typical colonial corridor, which makes an ideal place for either a couple or a full family stay. All beds are covered by a mosquitoe net during rainy season. Renters have full privacy.

Our family made our first trip to Guatemala using VRBO for the first time as well. We were pleasantly surprised by the comfort and conveniences of this home. The owners representative met us at the house and showed us around with all the information needed to enjoy the home. Beautiful living room and dining room, kitchen is fully equipped. All the bedrooms were very comfortable. The home is large enough to get lost in. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a clean safe place to stay in Antigua. Thank you!!!!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for taking time to provide your review. I am very glad to hear that the house accomodation worked very well for your family. I look forward to have you back in the future.

We had a beautiful time staying in this property over Christmas / New Year, 2012/2013. The house was beyond our expectations, beautifully built, decorated and furnished. There is lots of space inside the house and it is big enough to stay with a large family in 4 bedrooms. The house is very wellcleaned and kept well. The house is indeed located in a quiet gated community and excellent for little children to walk around up to a playground, all safe, quiet with almost no cars. It is a nice walk into the centre of Antigua, around 15 up to 20 minutes. But tuc tuc's and taxi's can also drive you there (you can easily call for a taxi which will come and stop right at the door of the house). The owner is extremely responsive and helpful with all questions. His local representatives are also very friendly and helpful, they awaited us arriving at the house at midnight due to late flight arrival. We can highly recommend this place to stay in Antigua!Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: I really appreciate greatly the time you took to provide such positive review. I'll look forward to host your family and friends in the future, Mario

First, I would like to say that Mario is extremely responsive and helpful. From first contact on, Mario was on top of everything. Even when we were in Antigua and he was in the US, he responded to emails within hours. We made a last minute request to have some friends stay one night with us and Mario was flexible and approved their stay for a reasonable fee. We really appreciated this. (Note: there are four bedrooms but only two of us. Therefore, only two of the four bedrooms were unlocked. That was fine, but it did surprise us.) The housekeepers and gate security were very helpful, as well. We were impressed with the living room and kitchen. They are well furnished and comfortable. The outdoor courtyard is gorgeous. The home is large with plenty of space and privacy. We did feel that perhaps an update the bedrooms and bathrooms would go a long way. The bedding is clean but worn and dated. It was comfortable but new bedding would make a big difference. The location is good - it's about a 15-20 minute walk to the town square. We discovered that if you turn right at the main gate, you can get a tuk tuk pretty easily, as there is a road one block to the right that leads to a local neighborhood. However, if you turn left at the main gate, which is quickest walking route, we found there were very few tuk tuks. Tuk tuks aren't really necessary but it's good to know where to get one if you need one! A tuk tuk ride to town is about Q15. This was our second trip to Antigua and we love it. It's beautiful, safe, and friendly. This home is a safe, clean, comfortable, and affordable place to stay while visiting this wonderful town!Owner response: Dear Renter, I’d like to thank you for the time you took to write the review, the many positive comments as well as for the improvement suggestions on which I already followed-up. I look forward to accommodate you and your family in your next vacation in Antigua.

Our son was getting married in La Antigua Guatemala and we were searching for a low-cost way to provide accommodations for our group of about 8. We decided to search VRBO and we found Mario's place that suited our purposes admirably. We had first class accommodations in a gated community and we were only a short 5-10 minute walk from the Casa Santo Domingo where the wedding was being held. Mario's property was a wonderful four bedroom house that had all the comforts of home. We thoroughly enjoyed the week we spent in La Antigua and the house provided a GREAT spot, central to almost all the attractions of La Antigua.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks James for your feedback. I am very glad to hear that your family enjoyed the stay in Antigua while celebrating your son's wedding and that the house worked well for you. I look forward to accomodate your family and friends in the future.

Dear Mario, We wanted to personalize our review to acknowledge and thank you for providing us such a comfortable and convenient four-week vacation sojourn in Antigua. Your home was as advertised: beautifully furnished, flowing, generous indoor and outdoor spaces, immaculately maintained (we rightfully dubbed Sonia, your cleaning lady, the "Darling Dynamo"), perfectly functioning appliances and mechanical systems, completely secure in a truly lovely gated community with most attentive gate keepers and an easy stroll to the center of town and to many of the most important monuments and exceptional restaurants. Most of all, Mario, it was your constant attention and instant response to every detail and question which made our stay uniquely memorable. We thank you for your rare hospitality. Peter and Francie Handler Santa Fe, New MexicoOwner response: Thank you Peter and Francie for taking time to write your thoughtful comments. I am very glad to hear that you had a great time and that you liked the accomodation. I am looking forward to assist you, and your friends, in the future.

Our group of six friends and family stayed in this lovely home. It is beautifully designed and decorated, in a comfortable way. The house really worked well for us. There is a large public area with the living/dining room where we could gather and socialize, play games or watch TV after a long day sightseeing in beautiful Antigua. The rooftop terrace provided volcano and city views, or starry skies. The small but beautiful courtyard is a bit of colonial charm. And owner Mario Godoy makes it easy to rent this place. He is very responsive to inquiries, flexible, provides complete information on Antigua and the house. He even recommended a shuttle service we used a number of times, that worked perfectly for us. The local representative, Sonia, was professional and also responsive. We had a great time in Antigua, which is a wonderful city. And a huge factor in our enjoyment was staying in this house.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

Wow! We came back to Antigua 6 years after our honeymoon - this time with our two kids (ages 5 and 3). The pictures do not do the house justice to how big this place is. The kids loved exploring all the rooms and going up to the roof. My wife loved taking pictures of us all over the house with different backdrops. Having the playground inside the gated community was key - especially on Christmas Day when we spent most of the day at home. The kitchen was just about as well equipped as our own at home. We usually ate one (sometimes two) meal per day at home and were completely comfortable. We even baked a cake! It took 15 minutes or so walking with the kids to get into town. Most days, as it was getting dark, we would go to the grocery store downtown and take a tuk tuk back. It worked out perfect. The internet connection was good enough to make free VOIP calls home. It was also handy to be able to look up tourist information and check Email whenever. They also had some magazines and a Lonely Planet Guide for Guatemala in the house, so you don't necessarily have to buy your own. Everything was clean, and we felt secure in the house. I would highly recommend this to parents with small children. I didn't see any place else during our visit where I would have rather stayed. This would also be awesome for any large family or group because of each bathroom is private (colocated with the bedrooms), and the common areas are large and fun. Thanks Mario!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you very much for taking time to write your comments. I am very glad to see people returning to Guate and it is great to hear that the house worked well for your family. I am looking forward to assist you, and your friends, with future accomodations.

My husband, our three young adult children and I stayed in this lovely property. Mario, the owner, was so helpful in answering our questions before our trip and very easy to work with. Doris, the housekeeper, was always ready to help and answer questions while we were in Antigua. We were within walking distance of most places we wanted to see in Antigua, so this home was convenient, yet it was in a quiet, gated community, so we could escape the bustle of town and just relax when we wanted to. The home is spacious and well cared for and had everything we needed to feel comfortable. We highly recommend this property, as well as Antigua, as a wonderful place to visit! Thanks for everything, Mario!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for taking the time to write your review. I am glad to hear that you liked the location and the services provided by Doris. I look forward to serve you in the future.

We just returned from a 5-day stay at Mario's lovely home in Antigua. Our family (2 adults, 3 kids ages 10-17) had a wonderful time. The house is extremely clean and comfortable. For an equivalent price (or more) we would have been crowded into one small hotel room in town. At Mario's house, however, we had plenty of space - a spacious dining room and living room and plenty of bedroom and bathroom space. After a full day of volcano climbing, sightseeing, etc. it was really nice for the five of us to lounge around the living room and watch a DVD together. (We brought several with us.) Mario was extremely helpful -- assisting us with arranging a ride from the airport, and providing us with all kinds of tips and suggestions for our visit in Antigua. We felt very safe at all times in his community. We would generally walk to town and back (takes about 15 -20 mins), unless it was dark in which case we'd grab a taxi for Q40 from the "cab stand" at the central park, which has taxis running until 1 AM. Mario's on-site household help was very nice and more than happy to get anything we needed. The men that work at the gate were also super friendly and were always there immediately to open the gate for us. But, then again, all the Guatemalans we met were super friendly and helpful.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers.
Owner response: FamFive, sounds like you had a blast of fun in Guate, that's great. I want to thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your stay in Antigua and I am very glad to hear that the house accomodation, the tips and the staff somehow also helped you have a great vacation.
