Loon Cottage on Toddy Pond
- Minimum stay:3 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Here's your perfect opportunity to enjoy life in the Maine woods where you can relax, swim, canoe, kayak, watch the bald eagles, listen to the loons, and enjoy the sunset before you have a lakeside bonfire to roast hot dogs and marshmallows. This one bedroom cabin is just steps from 9 mile long Toddy Pond. Bring your canoe or kayak. If you're a fisherman, you can launch your boat at the nearby boat ramp, then fish for bass, trout, perch, and salmon.
Going east from Toddy Pond, nearby excursions include Mt Desert Island with Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park and Southwest Harbor. Sightsee, shop, hike the shoreline, bike the Carriage Trails, dine at the famous Jordan Pond House.
Going to the south and west, you won't want to miss the new Penobscot Narrows Bridge with its 442' high Observatory and adjacent Fort Knox, built for the Civil War. They serve to welcome travelers to Bucksport and Downeast Maine.
Camden, Rockport, and Rockland are 45-60 minutes south where you can take in several of the most picturesque harbors on the east coast. Climb or drive up Mt. Battie for a breathtaking view of Penobscot Bay and it's many islands.

The fishing was great! 20 bass with a 20" and an 18". Also caught an 8' shark on the Atlantic Ocean. Took and hour to get it into the boat! Acadia is beautiful! www.eggemogginguideservice.net is great.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a great time visiting the state, using the cabin as home base, which worked out great. We didn't relax around the cabin much, but we enjoyed our outings. Thanks so much.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We came to celebrate our 7th anniversary. We enjoyed a day with some driving and hiking through Acadia. We had a good breakfast at Riverside Cafe in Ellsworth. Our favorite meal was cooking lobster bought from Jeff Soper on Rt 1, here at the cabin. We heard a loon, saw an eagle, and jumped in Toddy Pond. Great Trip!Did you find this review helpful? We stayed at the Loon cottage recently on our honeymoon. The location was just remote enough for silence and privacy and the 30-45 miute trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia was a nice drive. This was a perfect cottalge for the beginning of our honeymoon and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a honeymoon retreat or a quiet place away.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We wanted a secluded place to be the base for our exploration of the Maine coast. What a great setting and location the Loon cabin turned out to be. It is less than an hour to Bar Harbor, Camden, Belfast, and even Bangor. It is small, but very clean and includes all the necessary kitchen items for a vacation stay. The bed is a full size, very comfortable, and in the den area the loveseat is also very comfortable. Only basic TV channels, but that is not what you need to be doing here. The bathroom is for one person at a time with a shower. Toddy Pond is about 100 feet away with a swimming dock, and a boat ramp is about one half mile away up the road. The owners are very accommodating, and will make sure your stay is as great as it can be. I would recommend this cabin to any couple wanting a secluded place to stay in this area of Maine. It is very clean and very well maintained. the owners had a list of places to see and great places to eat.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

Why the Owner Chose Orland:
After vacationing in Maine for many years, we purchased our dream vacation home on Toddy Pond. The peaceful serenity refreshes and restores us as we unwind and enjoy nature and the wildlife. Yet it is the best of both worlds in that there is a wide variety of activites for all ages either on Toddy Pond or nearby. There's even a fun, down-home restaurant that you can walk to though some folks arrive by seaplane.
