About the owner: Our family first settled as farmers in present day Union County, NC circa 1730 and have remained in NC throughout the approx 280 years since. Our multi-great grandparents began their married lives in one great room log structures w/sleeping lofts they built with the help of family and neighbors. As our families grew, our log cabins grew accordingly into rambling farmhouses. Dennise and I, working with a Charlotte architect, designed our mountain retreat to honor our NC family farmhouse traditions. Our house's great room, though larger, represents the original log cabin feel from which an early farmhouse would have grown. The rest of the house, decks and many rooflines intentionally wrap and ramble evey whichway to remind us of our families and their farmhouses. We built this house to pass down in our family for generations to come, designing it with every convenience we could imagine.
The Unique Benefits at this House: We are a family of outdoor adventurists that routinely traveled from the Charlotte, NC area to western US to enjoy skiing, dirtbiking, hiking, atv riding, etc year-round. After spending most of our vacations traveling to and from parts of Colorado, we discovered this unique development was closest feeling of 'being out west' on the east coast as possible. There is always something to do here no matter the season.
