What an awesome place!

When my friend booked this rental she kept referring to it as a "cottage." This definitely has more of a "home" vibe. Virtually everything we needed was already in the house (cutlery, utensils, pots, pans, cleaning supplies, etc.). It's about a block and a half away from a great public park with a beautiful sand beach, and it's about 2 blocks away from the center of down town La Pointe. Air conditioning and heat worked great, beds were comfy. The property was wooded (we saw a fox run through the yard) and the house has decks on 3 sides. I would stay in this place again in a heart beat - great ammenities and location for the price!
Owner response:Thank you for your kind words. Your "House" is a turn of the century historic Island cottage with marks of character throughout. Since our lucky purchase late June 2010 we have upgraded much & plan on some more upgrades. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay !

Enjoyed are stay at the "Treasure House". Rental propertly was clean and accomidations met all of our expectations! House was cozy and hosted a great private back yard. Convience of location was a HUGE plus; with home being in walking distance of downtown activities and park. Owners were friendly and easy to work with. Thanks again for a fantastic adventure on the island..we hope to see you again this summer or fall!

This house was exactly what I expected. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. The owner was very helpful and welcoming. The kitchen was nicely stocked with just the right dishes and pans. I was there during the week when Madeline Island was nice and quiet. It was a great little getaway. I would definitely recommend to others.

I spent a night at Treasure House in October as a solo getaway from the Cities and it was just what I needed. Easy to get to, walking distance from everything, set back from main street enough to feel secluded. I took a nap in one bedroom and eventually had a great night's sleep in the other. The place was spotless, well stocked kitchen (I'll probably come back with girlfriends to take advantage of the great kitchen), and quaint. I'd probably also bring my three year old here, but may not be appropriate for younger children (steep stairs). I actually ran into the property owner in town and he was very kind and wanted to be sure my stay was just right. As to the previous review, it turns out that if you come to Madeline Island you should be prepared to revel in natural beauty (including the occasional bug) and enjoy solitude over the Four Seasons standard of lodging.

Our Off Season Getaway

For a mid November trip, we could not have asked for anything more. So few people were on the island and we took advantage of this by seeing pretty much everything nature has to offer. So quiet and so peaceful. There's definitely something to be said for off season getaways. Will we go again? You bet!

We were looking for a quick weekend getaway in November knowing full well that the island is pretty "sleepy" at that time of the year. We were looking for something comfortable and affordable and found it in this cabin. For approximately the same price as a hotel room, we found a whole lot more in having a house, wonderfu deck and back yard. We did a lot of cooking and the kitchen was marvelous. The cabin was old time woodsy and made our stay memorable. Kudos!

What a great little hangout this is. Property manager very quick and complete in response to questions and concerns. We were floored by the literally "no-stone-unturned" outfitting of this little gem of a place so close to everything in La Pointe. There's nothing left-out here - we even noticed a nifty blender with a pour spigot at the bottom for you favorite concoctions. Everything in order. What we really were looking for we received in great abundance - privacy and quiet. Both my wife an I slept later into the morning than we have in years! The island speaks for itself in both natural beauty, adventure and the unflagging hospitality of it's residents.
Owner response:Many Island residents tend to go out of their way to make visitors feel at home. Thank you for your review !

We really loved this place. True it is an old house but that only adds character. Everything was in working order and the kitchen was especially well equipped. There is a very steep staircase to the bedrooms so if you are traveling with small children be sure to bring a safety gate. While there we enjoyed biking, hiking and kayaking. We also enjoyed browsing around the shops of LaPointe and visiting the quirky Tom's Burned Down Cafe (where our dog Keegan was welcome!). Had dinner at The Pub and it was excellent. Big Bay State Park has one of the prettiest beaches I have ever seen on Lake Superior and the hiking trails and boardwalk were amazing (dogs allowed on trails but not on the beach or boardwalk). Cell phone reception was good at the house and in the town. Less reliable outside of town. This property is a perfect place from which to explore the entire island or to just hang out in LaPointe. We are already planning a return trip!
Owner response:Yes, the Island is very pet friendly. Thank you for your visit and time to submit this review !

Not what we expected! Appliances were new but-Patio door is out of square and has large hole in screen. We cleaned up allot of dog hair and cobwebs. Upstairs roof is coming apart. Had a strong odor of bleach over other smells. We killed many moths that kept getting in somehow. Bathroom is tiny with 24x24 inch shower with stains on walls. My wife did not think this was a romantic gettaway. would be o.k. for a hunting cabin. Definetly not worth what we paid.
Owner response:We are sincerely sorry these 2 travelers and their dog feel let down. After our guests arrive we ask how everything is and suggest "please call" with questions or concerns as also stated on our booking. In this case we heard nothing until the review posted so we could not assist with their stay. We did install new rollers on the screen door. Our cleaners use clorox with bleach, swiffer wet and windex which do have odors. Many of our guests have remarked that the place was very clean. Also the shower stall is a standard 26 by 30 and may be uncomfortable for our larger guests. Our rates are a great Madeline Island value. We wish these travelers well and thank them for leaving their cottage so tidy.

From the time we inquired about possible rental...all through our stay all we can say is PERECT! The owners care about your happiness while at their charming island property and it shows in their prompt responses to booking, questions, and providing great info. Most of all hats off to them for making you feel as though its "your" cottage while on the island. Clean, quiet, comfortable, and FUN are words that repeatedly come to mind when recalling our vacation stay at Treasure House. Its truly a gem.
Owner response:Thank you ! We love Madeline Island and always try very hard to exceed expectations. Even if our calendar shows "full" feel free to give us a call and we will answer your Island questions and even direct you to other places to stay.
