My girlfriend and I recently stayed 4 nights at The Mangy Moose for my birthday and skied Brighton and Solitude. It far exceeded our expectations and Honi and Dave went out of their way to make sure of that. The cabin is intimate and cozy for a couple but could also comfortably sleep 10 due to the amount of beds (all beds fit into 2 rooms so 5 couples would not have their own private room but a very large bachelor(ette) party or a double date or a roomy 'just the 2 of us' get-away works perfectly). There was a large amount of firewood inside for the fireplace, which was burning constantly for us. The hot tub was fantastic and very nice to climb into after skiing. The kitchen was roomy and had all the items needed to cook each meal. Dave even let us park our truck in the garage to get out of the big snow Big Cottonwood Canyon is known for. Speaking of trucks, make sure you take the 4x4 requirement seriously in winter months. Both the road service (and Dave) do stellar work to keep the roads clear but 4 wheel drive is an absolute must for safely getting around the canyon. Now for the part that's not advertised on VRBO. Honi stayed in touch throughout our stay to make sure we had all we needed, even scheduling a hot tub service to make a well-working hot tub work perfectly. She texted with local ski deals and fireworks planned, allowed us a late checkout, and rallied the neighbors for a bonfire on the back of the property, complete with tunes and libations galore. All this to say, you can't find a personal touch like this hardly anywhere. Honi and Dave truly want you to have a great time in a great cabin in one of the world's greatest ski areas and real vacation spots you'll find. If it's nightlife and trendy apres ski activities you are after, Park City is for you; but if you want twice the snow for half the price and room to breathe, the other side of the Wasatch is your place. Thanks guys for having us in your wonderful cabin for my 39th birthday; I hope to rally more troops to stay at The Mangy Moose for my 40th!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

For the record, the only thing that kept my review from reaching "Excellent" status was the lack of a wireless internet connection. Outside of that glitch, the place has all the amenities we have come to expect in out winter sojourn domicile. Property managers are on site and wonderful people who allow you the privacy you deserve and help if you need it. A rustic retreat that makes it easy to relax after a hard day on the slopesRecommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: WE HAVE INTERNET!!! Finally they have ran it for our area! Thanks so much for staying with us! Hopefully now were up to the 5 stars we would want everyone to enjoy! Thanks again for the positive review and we hope your able to make it back and enjoy it even more now with great Internet!

My kids wanted snow out their door and they got it! Cozy place super close to Brighton where my kids enjoyed their first time on the mtn. Wood burning stove kept the place toastie. Very clean upon our arrival as was the hot tub and cabin was fully stock. Even did a little rippin on the plowed driveway. Honi and Dave were awesome and made sure our stay was perfect. Saw some pretty blue birds. We will definitely be back for more! Thanks for the great memories!!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

We stayed here and loved the beauty of the area and the comfy accomidations. The cabin had all we needed for our weeks stay. The kitchen was clean and well stocked for some great after ski meals. The wood stove with endless amount of wood kept us cozy on the cold nights. The best part was the distance to Solitude and Brighton. The car barely had time to defrost before we pulled in the parking lot. In the seven days of our vist 52 inched of new snow accumulated. Honi and Dave made themselves available for any concern we had during the stay.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

I went with a group of 8ish friends. We had a such a great time. There was plenty of room for all of with all the amenities. The distance to Solitude was so short, Brighton isn't much further. To be right on Big Cottonwood Canyon makes a snowboarders life so easy. I would definitely recommend this cabin for any group, friends/families/families with children. It's a great place. Oh and did I mention the hot tub? Incredibly relaxing after a day on the mountain!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Spent several weeks in February at the Mangy Moose with the family and had a great time. No traffic jams to deal with coming up the canyon and easy commute back after a long day of skiing. The proprietors, keep the driveway plowed and lay in a nice stack of wood if you want to sit around the bonfire at night. The hot tub in the pines under the stars is fabulous. Cable TV and limited internet are available and our mobile phones worked fine from there. Can't wait to go back.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

About the owner: We have spent most of our lives out doors loving to camp, hike, ski, wake board, snowboard & enjoy everything the mountains & Utah has to offer. It has been our goal to spend as much time as possible together as a family!
Why the Owner Chose Brighton:
This location is amazing! Moments from both solitude & Brighton ski resorts. It takes us only minutes to get up the canyon to the cabin which makes it simple to still get grocery's or hit the restaurants. With Guardsman's Pass minutes away we can go snowmobiling easily. Tubing is minutes away as well. In the summer their are so many hikes we cant keep up!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We are in the heart of moose territory! We are constantly spotting them. Our deck off the back is a haven for wildlife it has a spectacular view of nothing but the mountainside & we love to feed all the birds especially blue jays, chipmunks & squirrels. The hot tub also looks right out into the woods and mountainside.
