Pisgah Forest National Forest: The Davidson River trailhead is perhaps the most popular area within the entire Pisgah National Forest, for mountain bikers, hikers, equestrians, rock climbers, fishermen, naturalists, photographers, and tourists alike. This is the quintessential National Forest recreation area, with a wide range of attractions that will delight any type of visitor. Being so close to a good highway and to town, this area is perfect for someone who loves the outdoors but also likes being close to the amenities of the modern world. However, some of Pisgah's greatest backcountry and wilderness areas can be accessed from the area as well. (from mtbikewnc)
Dupont State Forest: North Carolina's newest State Forest is located southeast of Brevard in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The 10,400 acre Dupont State Forest (DSF) offers almost 100 miles of recreational trails traveling to several unique waterfalls, pristine lakes, and other attractions. Some trails pass over large expanses of solid rock on large granite domes. Others twist through the woods, offering more traditional Carolina style. Nearly all trails are multi-use (biking, hiking, and equestrian) and they are well signed and well marked. from (from hikewnc)

I was blown away by this rental!! The views from the house could not be put down in words! The house was beautifully hand crafted by the owner and had all the amenities anyone could ask for. The owners are very kind and catered to every need we asked for. Definitely will be coming back in the near future.
Owner response:We are truly grateful for this type of review. Having been raised here, we feel that the southern hospitality that has always been common to the mountains of Western North Carolina is a responsibility entrusted to us by generations past. We are glad that Fred and Elizabeth felt at home and hope you will stay with us for many years to come.

We had a wonderful time! The location is ideal...close to everything. The view is amazing; best we have ever had in all of our visits to the area. We could have spent our entire time out on the back porch. We probably took 100 photos just at the property! Gorgeous sunsets and then clouds below us in the morning, hummingbirds fighting over the feeder (5 at one time), fireflies at night. It was perfect. Our kids had a great time going to sliding rock and the falls in Dupont, as well as to Looking Glass Falls, all of which were only about 15 min from the house. There were lots of nice little touches throughout and the owner was really fantastic to work with!
Owner response:Thanks Anne for this nice review. We are so happy that you enjoyed it so much. I would love to see some of those pictures, if you are willing to share. :) Thanks, Cherie

Special Place To Keep Us Coming Back For More

I’ve been coming to Brevard since I was 7 years old and we are enjoying passing along the tradition to our 4 children making it here 3 times in 7 years. Well, we have found a special place that will keep us coming back for more. This home provides a perfect combination of picturesque environment, comfort, and location. The proximity to so many wonderful spots is great using Jeter Mountain as a base. From Sliding Rock (where 3 of 4 kids enjoyed multiple slides), to Looking Glass (where Dad swam under the falls), to DuPont (where we visited and swam at Hooker Falls, Triple Falls and High Falls), to Hendersonville, Brevard and even a day at the Biltmore. What a beautiful place to create so many family memories. And then when we came back to the cabin stocked with games, a kids cabin and even a fire pit for roasting marshmallows, there was always a way to build our family bond. Thank you Cherie for making this getaway available to our family. We will surely be back.

We had an absolutely wonderful time on Jeter Mountain, thank you so much for sharing it with us. My husband and sons enjoyed fishing in the pond (all catch and release) so much – they were down first thing in the morning, and again right after dinner almost every day. The views are just spectacular, the morning clouds, the orange glow of the setting sun, and the storms too (the hail storm was quite something)! The area information binder was a great idea. Delicious cookies and music on our arrival was a huge surprise – the boys polished the treats off in no time.
Owner response:Charmaine, We are so delighted that your family enjoyed their stay. We hope to see you again next year or maybe even for a Fall/Winter visit, the mountains (and the view) take on a whole new look. Again, thanks for the review and for staying with us. Cherie

I was invited by the owner to preview this new vacation rental that they have recently updated and listed. Great location: it is central to Dupont State Forest and Pisgah National Forest and Brevard. Lovely cabin with spacious kitchen and decorated in a comfortable mountain style. It is the perfect private retreat. The views are phenomenal! Two spacious bedrooms, luxurious master bath, and a bunk room; all on one floor make it ideal for 2 couples or families to share. My favorite part of the property is the huge front porch and incredible views.
