Our family had an excellent time at this cozy retreat built for fun and relaxation. The location was perfect for our ice fishing, snow shoeing, and sledding adventures. The owner was correct when she said all we needed was a toothbrush and toothpaste!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had the pleasure of staying at this gorgeous home in December of 2012. It is pristinely clean and incredibly comfortable. Everything worked perfectly and, in addition to being incredibly responsive, the owners sent a great outline of how to use everything. They had instructions for things like the tv system so it was easy to use everything. They had also thought of all the little things – like having bedside tables with lamps on either side of the bed. It has everything you would need - cooking utensils, bedding, wifi and towels. Just bring your toothbrush! I would second the reviewer who said that the pictures don’t do it justice. We had four adults and one baby and much more room than we needed. You could easily have people sleep on the couch in the living room and also the one in the master bedroom if you needed more sleeping places. It is close to the ski slopes and the country club (which is open to the public). There are lots of activities in the neighborhood from sledding to cross country skiing – and the setting is fabulous. We had a fabulous time and I recommend this home wholeheartedly. I hesitate to give a review of this home because I want to come back and I’m afraid others will book it up! At any rate, I fully recommend it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.

This was our second time at this property as we stayed there in October 2011 as well. We enjoyed the accomodations so well last time that we knew we would be back. There were six in our party and each couple had their own room and bath. The large den with the fireplace was so enjoyable as we relaxed and watched movies at night. We prepared all our meals there and couldn't believe all the utensils that were available. I love to sleep in a cool room, so at night I would crack the window and would wake up in the middle of the night to the bull elks bugling. With the WiFi I could keep up with the grandkids back in Texas on FB. I could go on and on, but will finish by saying that we hope to be there next Sept or Oct as well. The owners have taken very good care of this property and it shows. The property was very clean on arrival and everything worked property. We drove to Red River and Taos that are not far away. Highy recommend this property to anyone coming to Angel Fire.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Stan: thank you for taking the time to post a review, we really appreciate that. We have a great manager, Tracy. She makes all things possible! Look forward to having you back next year. Later Gator. Linda

Peace and tranquility. Sitting on the deck with a drink and a cigar gazing at BILLIONS of stars thrown across the sky. Breezes whispering through the pines as though singing to the rising moon. The shrill whistle of an elk bugle echoing down the meadow. In the early morning and early evening the elk "play through" on the golf course that is a 10 minute walk from the house. Walking the greenbelt and finding elk, bear, and deer footprints. It's just time standing still away from the grind. As far from the DFW Metroplex as you need to be with all the amenities of being home. The village of Angel Fire is just 5 minutes away with ski lifts, shops, grocery, and restaurants. The airport has an 8000 foot runway and can take jet aircraft. It is a 10 minute drive to a Vietnam Memorial State Park that is well worth the visit. A 15 minute drive to cafes in Eagles Nest. A scenic 45 minute drive to Taos with all sorts of shops, galleries, and restaurants. It is a 40 minute drive to Red River that is about 1,500 feet higher into the mountains. This is the second year we rented here. Last year was great but this year with the completed master bath, front porch, and carport was even better. There were 6 adults and this house has enough room for us not to be crowding each other. The kitchen is fun and easy to work in with everything you need provided. The grill on the deck is really easy to use with enough grill space to cook a feast. The open common area is big enough for everyone to sit in different areas and not compete in conversations. The only thing that would have made it better over last year was if the Rangers had been in the playoffs again. We have already requested a reservation for next year and are anticipating another fantastic stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Charlie - Mi Casa - Su Casa - look forward to your return and it thrills me when someone can appreciate "all" the little and big things about Angel Fire, especially our home. We love that place so much that we are constantly trying to find ways to make it better. Next summer we will make the back deck a thing of beauty as well - and - we actually look forward to the task! Thank you for the review. Linda

I don't think the photos do this place justice. The house is fabulous. The furnishings are all top-notch. The kitchen has everything you could need - much more than I've ever had in a rental. All the rooms were great. My aunt and uncle especially enjoyed the master bedroom and bathroom. We lucked out with amazing weather and were able to enjoy the deck as well. There are so many homey touches that made it so comfortable. There were even fall holiday decorations out when we arrived. The owners are great with communication. We were able to contact them as we arrived with a fairly urgent question which got resolved immediately. My only 'issue' (and it's not really an issue but a warning) is that there is no railing on the stairwell. My 70+ year old mother and aunt stayed upstairs and had to hold onto the wall to get downstairs. They did fine but it is something to keep in mind for 'older' guests. We love visiting Black Lake (Angel Fire) and would definitely rent this beautiful home again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much for the kind words Geri. We too have been in many rentals and I swore I would not offer up a rental unless it was furnished the way I would want to spend my rental money on. I agree with the stairwell. Have spoke with my husband many times about adding a railing - Thanks for the backup on that. I am sure there will be a railing on that stairwell within a few weeks now. Hope to see you return and so happy your trip was a success.

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay in this house. It was just the two of us so there was plenty of room and I have to say that the updates the owners are making to the house are fantastic - the master bathroom will be amazing once it's complete. The house was well appointed and very comfortable and the owners were accessible and very pleasant to deal with. We visit Angel Fire frequently throughout the summer but this is the first time we've stayed here and I hope we will be able to do so again. Thank you for a nice experience.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.

This place is perfectly charming and totally comfortable! The location is great...we saw baby deers playing, a group of elk grazing right off the deck, rabbits, chipmunks, and more. The covered parking and front porch were fantastic, as a couple of showers popped up during our stay (including a pretty hard rain as we first arrived.) My wife and I enjoyed morning coffee on the deck and also at the dining table with the view of the greenbelt. We loved all the tile work, wood trim, and stainless appliances. The new Master Bath is awesome! It wasn't quite ready during our time there, but it was nearly complete and looking great! This was our first time to vacation in Angel Fire, but surely not our last! Thanks for sharing your mountain getaway with us!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The house could not have worked out better. I differed from the other reviews, in that I was in a group of 9 guys staying at the house for a reunion of friends. Despite the numbers, we were able to sleep comfortably throughout the couch, with everyone having a place to sleep without having to resort to couches or the floor. The beds were AMAZING. The master bed was probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. Moreover, the furnishings as a whole were fantastic, as our group utilized the fully furnished kitchenware, cookware, etc. to have group dinners each evening. The house also backs up to a decently large field in between the other houses, which was a great spot to throw the football around, play in the snow, etc. The house is just about on the very edge of the neighborhood which made it a little tricky to traverse to, but even in the ice/snow it wasn't overly difficult to get to and from. Overall great stay and great house!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: My name is Linda and my husband is Peter. We live on a lake named Possum Kingdom which is 2 hours west of Ft.Worth, Texas. My husband retired from the inventory business after 30 years. I have previously been in real estate but gave that up to raise our children and manage our personal real estate. Now we have the time to travel and so we made our way back to Angel Fire.
Why the Owner Chose Angel Fire:
We previously owned a condo in Angel Fire for about 12 years but then our children grew up and started their own families. We sold the condo about 8 years ago but Angel Fire kept calling us back. It's a family oriented resort and boy, now we have a large family so we decided to return and purchase a much larger place to accommodate our growing family. Now we get to watch our children and their children enjoy the mountains as much as we have.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
our favorite things to do is have our family and friends join us at the house for cookouts and games. We crank up the fireplace and the music and a good time is had by all. We have made many improvements to our place and many more improvements to follow in the spring. Everything is located within minutes and you don't mind having to make a run down to the local supermarket because the scenery of the mountains and the wildlife along the road makes it an adventure.
