This Yabucoa house has a spectacular view. One of my favorite things about staying here was sitting out back in the morning or in the late afternoon and watching the mountains, valley floor of farmland, and Caribbean Sea. At night, the lights sparkle everywhere. I also appreciated that in this house we were out of the tourist zones, feeling like we had a stay in the “real” Puerto Rico. The nearby beaches are beautiful and unpopulated, if a little hard to find and better geared towards surfing or sunbathing instead of swimming, and the location is only about a hour from more touristy hotspots like San Juan, the rainforest, and Locquillo. Tony and Brigido were helpful, trustworthy, reasonable, easy, and friendly to deal with. The situation has some more awkward points—because there are animals on the property (horses, a dog, pigs) Brigido is around in the mornings to feed them. The house could also be better appointed in terms of terms of deck furniture, lamps, linens, kitchen staples.Owner response: Jessica –Thank you for your kind review. Making you feel relaxed and welcomed in a clean, comfortable environment that feels like home is priority number one. We want you to enjoy staying in “real-Puerto Rico” without compromising pleasure. The points of concern you make are well taken and eliminated to ensure any future stays are hassle-free. Farm animals in country living Puerto Rico is a fact of life. Inevitably, the rooster will do his morning song, an occasional neighboring hen will leisurely wander into the yard, and a symphony of coqui-frogs will serenade you to sleep at night. However, the animals you referenced must and will always be fenced and or caged-in to ensure animals and their human companion’s are safe.
