Panarea Island compared to Capri in its best years, is the smallest but certainly the most exclusive and enchanting isle of the all Aeolian Archipelago formed from other six famous islands: Stromboli, Lipari, Vulcano, Salina, Filicudi, and Alicudi. An interesting characteristic of Panarea that contribute to its uniqueness is the total non-existence of carriage-way. In fact the ancient mule tracks have been today restored for the only use of little electrical cars or some motor means of transport. In the roads there are not electrical lights so that the nights in Panarea with its starry sky have really a magical effect.
With little rental boats you can enjoy of the beauty of the sea with its crystal-clear waters and its fantastic shores, or in alternative you can choose to go to the seaside near the house.
The isle also offers the possibility to go for beautiful walks in mountains: the highest top is "Pizzo del Corvo" (420 meters).
The beautiful, Mediterranean vegetation is luxuriant of Indian figs, brooms, capers, and olives.
The Aeolian Archipelago with its wonderful and very strong volcanic nature, defined one of the most beautiful in the world, has been in the 19th century the destination of some famous travelers as the writer Alexandre Dumas (father) and the Archduke Luigi Salvatore of Austria who was permanently traveler and researcher. |
