Villa Manakin provided our family an excellent location for a memorable family reunion. The home was spacious, well maintained, secure, close to town and easy access to transportation. I so appreciated the property management as they ensured that all details were taken care of, including unique activities, a chef to help with meals security and daily maid service. Day one, we were personally greeted to ensure the home and all details were set. When I had questions throughout the trip, Dorit was available by personal cell. All of us fell in love with Costa Rica, our villa, the view, pool, our chef , security detail, and the housekeeping service. Favorite activities include: Canyoning trip, Canopy Zip Line, Sunset sailing, beaches in the park and The Raindrop Spa. Unexpected treasures included the sunrise and sunset from the deck, capturing our morning white face monkey visits, being greeted by two Iguana's along with the welcoming community. This country was so hospitable and a place that provided memories that will last a lifetime.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Our original arrangement was to stay at Tanager Villa. Just prior to our arrival we were told Tanager had been sold and the new owner did not want to rent due to plans to remodel. I had an issue with that because it seems all signed contracts should have been honored but this was not the case. That is not good business. The furnishings are basic at Manakin, especially the living room and dining room area. This is not a luxury property, but it works for the environment of its location. We had a rough beginning but ended with everyone being happy.. The unit is not compatible for people with any physical limitations, because non of the bedrooms are on the main floor. All bedrooms are either upstairs or downstairs. When there is strong rain beware due to the type of structure it will rain inside. The beds are quite comfortable, so that made a great nights sleep. You must keep the bedroom doors closed at all times so the monkeys etc won't go into your room. The monkeys are so cute but little thieves..lol. The staff is excellent and friendly, and the free internet was awesome. There is no spa at this property other than the master bath. However professional spa services are available on property. The view is awesome. A lot of steps so be prepared.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Dear Traveler, Thank you for taking the time to review us. We always do our best to please our guests and make their stay as memorable as possible. If there are any issues during their time with us, we always fix problems right away, as long as they are communicated to us. The geography of Manuel Antonio, which is a rain forest covered mountain, allows these beautiful ocean views you enjoyed so much, but of course it also entails that there is almost no flat land, which often requires multi-level constructions with () steps & stairs. The monkeys are always welcome at our villas and we believe that the experience of having them so close overweights the loss of some fruits. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back some time in the future. With a variety of different vacation home rentals, I am sure we can find the perfect property for you! ¡Pura Vida!

We've stayed at Manuel Antonio Estates at least 20 times. Love it there. I've been all over Costa Rica and Manuel Antonio is my favorite. We've taken every age from 16-80 and everyone loves it. The staff is great, the spa is awesome and all the excursions they set up are very organized and fun. They will pick you up at the house. I've stayed in most of the homes and they are all very nice. We had a group of 16 in this one with the ocean view and there was plenty of room. Have fun in Costa Rica!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, tourists without a car, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Our trip was a blast! Here are some things that we would recommend. Ronny's place: the best food! slightly hard to find, but the locals will know and will help you. Chicken on the run: good for quick lunch! Cafe Agua Azul: big ass burgers! But call ahead for a table! Amigos del Rio: white water rafting was amazing! We would do that 100 times over! So much fun. The guides made the trip more fun with lots of info. Also, the monkey's are everywhere, we have had them here everyday! Manakin house has 8 bedrooms with beautiful views! Shay in the office is very helpful. Anyone that stays at Manuel Antonio Estates will have a great time!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We came for our nieces wedding on the beach and it worked out very well! The people were very good for all of us (26 total). The houses were very nice & Shay took very good care of us all. Had a great time with all the family. The canopy tour was awesome! We saw very many different monkeys including the howler monkey, which we called from across the mountain. The guard Francisco was a very nice guy and very helpful! The National park was beautiful! We also enjoyed the Catamaran boat ride! Great food, drinks, snorkeling and swimming! We all had AWESOME time at Manuel Antonio Estates! I love Costa Rica, Pura Vida!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our group stayed here with Croft Global Travel. The home is very impressive, overlooking the rain forest, town of Quepos and Pacific Ocean. The owner was friendly and flexible. I would recommend this for larger groups. Only downside is it's not on the water, its a 5-10 min taxi ride away. For a cool experience, walk down to the town of Quepos at night and take in a local soccer match. It's an entertaining way to live like a local.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

It's Christmas Eve and we are sitting around reliving this past week in the rainforest and on the beach through the pictures we took, here in Costa Rica. I'm sure not one other person from our small town of Milton, Florida can say the same thing. This trip has been absolutely incredible - 14 of us have stayed in this house Villa Manakin or "Team Larson" and "Team Barr". We got the extreme adventures out of the way early, white water rafting the first day and taking a canopy tour the next. Of course my parents were the only ones to fall out the raft (my mom twice!), but all was well on the ziplines, Tarzan swing, and rapelling. It rained a lot the first couple days, but then cleared up, so we could enjoy deep sea fishing on Tuesday. Team Larson got a point :) wednesday was meant for a recooping day, but we ended up have a full day then, too. We hiked, went to the markets and shopped, and we tanned on the back patio. Oh and by the way, we took our fish to Dos Locos to be cooked and it was so delicious. Thursday, we visited the Manuel Antonio National Park and were very fortunate to have such a smart guide. He knew lots of tidbits of information about the plants and animals and was able to spot many animals that we got to see close up through his telescope. We also hung out at the beach that day and again ate dinner at Dos Locos. Friday, which is today, we split up doing a little bit of everything hiking, shopping, eating, hanging out at the beach, you name it. We saw the most gorgeous sunset ever, while eating at the restaurant El Avion. When we came home, the bananas that had been on the counter were gone - raided by monkeys! This was not our first encounter with them, however. At one time beteen twenty and thirty monkeys bombarded us on the back patio! They were very friendly and even sat in our laps. They were yellowish - brown. We also saw black ones but they were not as friendly one of our boys made one mad and he hissed, bared his teeth, and started shaking the tree branch at him. The monkeys were definitely entertaining. This has definitely been the best vacation ever and I'm so thankful we were able to take it. I hope all who stay here have just as wonderful of a time. God bless!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The whole trip has been a blessing. I am really disappointed that is going to be over soon. The people of Quepos have got it going on! Their attitude of life is a fine example of the true soul! I wish we could bring this attitude back to the great USA! Everyday has been another adventure that I will treasure for the rest of my life. We had a wonderful time in a wonderful country, with wonderful friends and family. May all travelling paisanos (vacationers) have as much fun as we had. God blessDid you find this review helpful? This is our last night here at Manakin House which we will miss very much. The scenery around here absolutely gorgeous. Balcony is amazing, the house is very functional and open. The people here are very friendly, and can´t do enough for you. The pastries from the bakery are great, and we love the coffee (take some home). The food in town is wonderful. Did not get a bad meal at any (several) of the places we ate; Do try the BBQ at Cantina's in Manuel Antonio. We saw monkeys down at the office and some in the park. Had a great trip, but it was too short! There is much to do here, and our next trip will definitely be longer! Enjoy!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
