  My wife and I rented this property for four weeks. I agree with a previous reviewer that this is a house but with a cottage feel. Accommodations are very good and we had friends and family visit during our stay and everyone loved the hous and they would happily rent this property. Everything was clean and tidy on our arrival and we found the property to be just as described, perhaps even slightly undersold. The pool is very good and great for cooling off. We loved the fact that we were just minutes from the village centre yet Calle de Rio is a quiet street that is mostly traffic free. The owners were very quick to respond to our queries and always in a positive manner. The beach is spectacular and really easy to get to on foot or by car if you take lots of stuff with you. Every taste is catered for in Siesta Village, we particularly enjoyed the hospitality and friendliness of the Salty Dog Pub. You might also like to check out 'Pub 32' a little to the south on route 41.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.

  My husband and I rented this wonderful place for 5 weeks Nov/Dec 2012. The owners called this a cottage and it definitely has a relaxing cottage feel but it is really a house in a nice, quiet area about 5 minutes’ walk to the vibrant village center where you can find a grocery store and a hardware store and lots of other shops and amazing restaurants. The place was neat and clean when we arrived and we loved the pool and lanai. The yard was really private. The house was much bigger than we expected and was well-equipped. I had to do some computer work remotely and was able to set up in the separate office. We had 4 friends visit and everyone loved the place. The Siesta Key beaches are absolutely beautiful and there are several beach accesses along the main road. We could walk to 2 of them but we chose to drive and park so that we could unload our chairs, umbrellas and cooler. The drive was approx. 3 minutes! Everything went smoothly with the rental and the key was ready for us when we arrived. We highly recommend this place and hope to be able to rent again ourselves.

  We enjoyed a one month stay, and had a far better experience than the previous reviewer! While there were some glitches with the internet access and pool skimmer, the property manager was helpful in trying to resolve them. (These are the only reasons for rating of 4 stars instead of 5). The home was perfect for our family get-a-way. It was clean, comfortably furnished, and pet-friendly! It's only a few minutes' walk to the beach...and the neighborhood is nice and quiet. For the price, you will not find a house that offers as much space, a private pool, and such close access to the beach. Highly recommend.

  It is disappointing to get reviews such as this, but we would like to thank the renters for their comments. There are a few point they make that are true. We did experience some problems with our Wi-Fi, phone service, and pool skimmer. These issues have all been taken care of now. In order to keep our response simple we will respond to each comment. 1. With regards to the pool being a mess. June was a terrible weather month and included a hurricane. Our pool is not screened in as this is how we like it. We have a very good once a week pool maintenance service. If debris falls into pool between services it is the guests’ responsibility to clear it out. Skimmer works properly now. 2. Lawn debris- We have a very good weekly lawn service. They clean up all fallen debris every Tuesday. If a storm or hurricane arrives, they do not come in addition to once a week. 3. Rodents- The rodent they said they killed was not a rat, but a mouse and was outside our house in the trash can that, evidently, did not have the lid on it. We have a contract with Orkin Pest Control for a once a month inspection and treatment. Believe me, there is no rodent problem inside our home. 4. Fire concerns- This is just not true. Our home has 3 doors leading to outside. Besides the front door we have two other doors that lead out to our fenced back yard. In case of a fire a person could EASILY get out of the yard. Also, our home has hard-wired smoke alarms and a fire extinguisher. We take safety very seriously!! 5. Internet and phone service- This problem was mostly due to weather and has now been corrected. In Summary, it was unfortunate they experienced some problems during their stay, but I believe most of their discontent of what they mentioned in their review was due to the bad weather month in June. Therefore, please read the other reviews and do not let this one bad one influence your decision to rent our home. Thank you.

  Upon our arrival, during a downpour, we found the carport to be a great asset in unloading. The home is beautiful and the decor is tastefully done. Basically it had nearly everything a family would need. We found the neighbors to be friendly and helpful. We did have to spend a few nights on the sofa bed and I don't recommend it, very uncomfortable. The home manager was very helpful in trying to get the wi-fi and the phone to operate. After several days and many hours later, we never did get the phone service to work. There was severe static in the lines and we even went as far to buy new phones for the home. Still didn't work. After the Verizon service man arrived he found the problem to be in the home with the wiring. The wi-fi only worked part of the time and it was very frustrating to all that depended on the internet to keep in touch with those back home. The Pool: We did not feel clean swimming with all the debris and bugs floating on the surface and clinging to the sides of the pool due to the skimmer not working properly. We notified the homeowners when Tropical Storm Debbie hit the last week of our stay. The pool and the patio had palm branches and was a real mess. We also informed the owners about a rodent problem when we killed a rat in the recycle bin and we found droppings in the laundry area. We did not have a way to get out of the home other than the front entrance. The gates in the front were locked so in case of a fire the only escape out of the home was through the front door. This really concerned us since the bedrooms were close to the outside door that led to the pool and a fenced in yard with no way out. It would have been nice to have a second escape route out of the home. We loved the area, loved the white sandy beaches and the weather is awesome. However, if you want to enjoy good dining it is wise to get off the island and check out great food at reasonable prices. We found Anna Marie Oyster Bar, Barnacle Bills (great specials and low prices), and the Boat Dock right across the bridge. Siesta Key is a wonderful place for a family, it is so safe and very easy to walk to just about anything. We had many memorable moments and we will return next year. However, I think next time we will try a different area somewhere closer to Englewood. Hopefully the homeowners have had some success in getting the pool fixed, the internet up and working as well as the phone and hired an exterminator.

  We have just returned home from spending three weeks at this property. The description given by the owners was very accurate. We found it to be a delightful residence that provided the quiet and privacy of an upscale neighborhood yet very accessible to the village, beach and fabulous sunsets! It is very spacious. We always looked forward to picking up dinner and having it back at "the cottage".

  Recommended for: Age 55+.

  TALK ABOUT atmosphere .. this 'cottage' had everything we needed and everything the owners said it was ... IT truly WAS!!! Our time in this beautiful, relaxing, CLEAN, private, tropical cottage isn't coming close to describing it! Every time I walked outside from the "master bedroom' it was like walking into paradise! The pool area was beautiful & very relaxing! The bedrooms were perfect and roomy! We were close to everything~we walked everywhere! The beaches were beautiful and so close to walk to! The owners were very accommodating and very nice to work with! Our stay at this 'quaint' relaxing cottage was just what we needed!!! My entire family loved it and are asking 'when can we go back'!

  Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

  Our stay was wonderful. Were able to have our dogs with us and it was truly a relaxing atmosphere. Master bed was great. Walk to village and beach daily. Our friends from Tampa visited and were so impressed they have booked a stay for later this year. Fully equiped and will definitely stay here again!!

  If you want to stay in a truly private tropical setting with lots of character....close to the village and the beach...this is a wonderful home to rent! So very CLEAN, nice bed linens and towels, fully equipped kitchen....we loved it!! We spent a lot of time in the screened-in patio with the grill and extra refrigerator...great for entertaining! I loved that the kitchen, eating area and family room all flowed together - much roomier than you might think. Our lab loved it, too!
