This rental has potential to be lovely, but I cannot recommend it. I would not rent here again and would advise others not to, as well. Red flags when booking were an unresponsive owner, lack of rental agreement, and payment via check. I should have looked for another rental, but in Wellsboro choice was limited in autumn, and I hoped this would work. When we arrived the house was very dirty. The owner then did respond quickly to ask the cleaners to come the following morning. Our first night was spent sweeping up piles of dirt from some areas of the floors and feeling not very welcomed/settled. The cleaner was very nice & gave us lots of info about town. She state she has never met owner, who lives in a different part of the state. I noticed mouse droppings on the kitchen counters on multiple occasions. When I opened the pot/pan storage cupboard, I found an absolute mess - tons of mouse droppings, and a dead mouse with fur and fluid stain below it in the cupboard. After my initial disgust, I decided to clean the entire cupboard so that my mother-in-law (who was our guest visiting from abroad) didn't see it. I bleached everything and prayed that hantavirus was not present... After the two combined incidents above, the owner promised a night's refund on our three night stay, which was fine with me - mistakes happen, and I was ready to enjoy our mini vacation. When I arrived home, I never heard from the owner again. I emailed her my home address and also paypal address for refund purposes, yet she never mailed a check or issued a refund via paypal. I phoned her and left a message about a month later (as I had been out of the country and couldn't do it sooner), and she did not return my call or send an email or refund. Other details in case you are still considering renting this house: -Seating for 4 at the dining table and separate stools in kitchen; no big dining table for a large group. -The fire pit in the backyard is precariously located on the edge of a stone wall that drops into a creek. I was glad I hadn't told my 4 year olds about the fire pit, as it was not safe for kids. -The best room in the house is the library/living room - it feels very warm. The master bedroom feels a bit spooky; neither my husband nor I discussed this, but neither one of us wanted to sleep in there & ended up in the double bed in the kids' room :-) If you do rent this house, get a rental agreement, pay via CC, and take out insurance though VRBO.

Overall rental was as promised and with one small exception everything was fine. Not all of the kitchen and dinning lights worked as they were missing light bulbs.

Our family of nine enjoyed staying together in one house, while attending a family reunion of 35. The house was spacious for us, did not feel crammed- plenty of room to do our own thing. The house was clean and well-maintained. There were two window air-conditioners in two front upstairs bedrooms. We were fortunate it was not a hot week-end. The back bedrooms had fans only. We loved being able to walk to the downtown area of Wellsboro. Great for walking and shopping. The owner was very helpful with our questions, and responded to us promptly. We would rent again when we gather again in 2014. There are many gift shops in town; visit the Wellsboro Diner for meals ; Grand Canyon of PA.; take a train ride down the valley to Ives Run Park, walk or bike the Pine Creek Trails.

We stayed for one week in the home with our entire family ages 10 months to greater than 50 years. All of our local family in Wellsboro came to visit since this home was so easy to find in downtown Wellsboro. Walked several times to local stores and eatery's close by. Enjoyed running and jogging throughout the streets of Wellsboro on multiple occasions. The home was comfortable and had the amenities necessary to prepare meals and relax. Even though it rained almost everyday, the guys enjoyed grilling outside the garage.

My husband and I (and our yellow lab) were lucky enough to find this gem for a long weekend getaway last summer. The house is beautiful - lots of character and old charm, tastefully decorated. You can't beat historic Wellsboro if you're looking for a relaxing retreat... quaint downtown area within walking distance of this home; quiet, tree-lined streets pefect for an evening stroll; mountain views everywhere you look. The PA Grand Canyon is a must-see for travelers & nature enthusiasts... it boasts many walking/hiking/biking trails, panoramic views. I highly recommend Timeless Destination for dining in Wellsboro- great food & atmosphere. In all, Dragonfly Manor is a great getaway!!

GREAT GET AWAY LOCATION
GREAT GET AWAY LOCATION
We were pleased to have the availibility to stay spring, summer and fall seasons. The location is prime as it's a very short drive to rails to trails/Pine creek and the Wellsboro airport as with fishing you have 4 super fishing lakes to pick from and the hunting areas are many. You can walk out the front door and walk to town and back which we've done multipul times. Wellsboro has many famous eating places to choose from so you would never go hungry. The big from porch is great to sit and enjoy with family and friends or just relax. We've really enjoyed the Laural festival and parade in June and Dickens of a Christmas inDecember here in Wellsboro The house is a big historic house with many rooms and a full kitchen to do the cooking if you wish. Everything is very well maintained, clean and neat as a pin every time with all you need. If you are looking for the outdoors or just tour the area and relax this is the prime location as New York state is a short drive to the big lakes and the wine tours. Give it a try and you will be back again and again..
