Killington apartment description
Off the beaten path - yet close enough for first tracks! You'll find the accommodations at Maple Nest pleasing: clean, bright, comfy & cozy... but it's the location and setting that really set it apart.
26 private acres consisting of large sunny lawns, 2 horse pastures, and wooded hills - with a trout creek running through it! You'll be on a dead end road, tucked in a hollow, surrounded by thousands of acres of undeveloped 'in-use' land literally braided with trails connecting to VAST, VASA, Long and Appalachian trail systems. Whether you're interested in an evening stroll to an abandoned gold mine, or launching an overnight backcountry expedition, make Maple Nest home base. From the door you will experience world class hiking, mountain biking, cycling, four wheeling, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and X-country skiing. Bird watchers, botanists, trout fishermen, and naturalists thrive here.
Athletes - combine training and vacation; this terrain is ripe for cycling and running. Endless dirt and paved roads, trails, and paths are accessed from the door. Rivers and lakes are minutes away for swimming, kayaking and canoeing. Check websites for local competitions. While you get your training in, other members of your party can enjoy hanging out, or take a quick 20 minute drive for classic New England shopping, dining, and museums.
Winter is a wonderland at Maple Nest. Killington’s Skyeship gondola is less than 20 minutes away. Snowmobilers, snowshoers, and X-country skiers access trails from the door. When you need a ‘down’ day stay home, snuggy up by the fire, read, or build snowmen and make snow angels. Before hitting the sack you’ll all want to pry yourselves away from the fire long enough to step out into the starlit snowscape to be serenaded by the babbling brook and creaking trees. Don’t worry - the house is plenty toasty - you’ll warm back up in no time.
This farmhouse was built in the 1880’s, expanded in 2000, and renovated in 2010. The renovated original two story farmhouse makes up the spacious two bedroom Maple Nest apartment unit. Yesteryear’s charm has been preserved and restored, but don’t be fooled. Behind those open beams and wide pine floors are state of the art insulation and utilities. The two bedrooms are found upstairs. The main floor has two large rooms (each with it's own fireplace) and a full bath.
Through the covered porch entranceway you’ll come into a bright front room with open beams and fireplace. Serving as a dining area and kitchenette, it has a small sink, and is furnished with a round dining table and chairs that sit four, two hutches, a kitchen island, dorm size frig, microwave, and coffee maker. There is a full bath off this room.
Continuing through to the back, still on the main floor, you’ll enter a charming living room, also with open beams and another fireplace. In it you’ll find a queen sized pull out sofa bed, full sized futon, stuffed chair, rocker, straight back chair, and SAT TV with DVD player.
Upstairs are two bedrooms with open beams and sloping ceilings. Each bedroom has two queen beds, but the rooms are spacious so they are not crowded.
Please note, there is no bathroom upstairs, the only bathroom is on the main, entry level. Ceilings are low throughout, but unless you’re 6’5” or more, you won’t hit your head:)
You'll find the accommodations charming but it's that setting that really shines. Maple Nest is a private slice of the Green Mountains available for you to enjoy: vintage Vermont farmhouse, large lawns, pasture, and creek all nestled in undeveloped land, yet minutes from resorts, dining and shopping.
Keywords: Charming farmhouse apartment. Striking distance to Killington, Pico, and Okemo ski resorts. Xcounrty skiing; snowshoeing; VAST, VASA from the door. Serene and private. Horse pasture, trout creek and a lot of fun to be had!

Great Find, Cozy, Affordable, and Friendly!
Great Find, Cozy, Affordable, and Friendly!
The Maple Nest is a perfect place for outdoor enthusiasts. Several friends and I celebrated the 2012 New Year’s Weekend skiing at Killington. The Maple Nest was less than 1/2 the price of other hotels and condos, close to the Long Trail Brewery, and provided cozy accommodations. There's plenty of hiking trails nearby and the house is located right on the mountain creek. The historic house has 2 fireplaces and keeps the rooms toasty warm. Kristen (owner) keeps the wood pile stocked and is very friendly. The Maple Nest is off the beaten path, but no doubt a worth while and affordable accommodation to visit VT.

Had a great time at Maple Nest
Had a great time at Maple Nest
My girlfriend and I were looking for a quiet, remote place to spend a short vacation and Kristin's property was exactly what we were looking for. The house was the perfect jump off location for a long weekend of hiking, exploring the nearby towns and just staying in to relax. All dealings with Kristin were smooth and she made us feel at home the moment we got there. I highly recommend Maple Nest and will be returning in the future.
