Yachats house description
Winter Special $125 a night through March 14th!
Whether its a cozy get away for two or a family retreat, our flexible rates will fit your needs.
The Overlook is nestled into the west facing slope on the edge of Yachats overlooking the Yachats River. It affords an uninterrupted view of the river as it flow into the Pacific Ocean kicking up the surf over a broad tidal beach, spouting horns, and rocky outcrops. This home has it all; the peaceful serenity of ocean views plus easy walking distance to the beach or the bustling center of town. Whether you’re in the mood for dining out, watching a movie, or simply unwinding from your fast paced life, at The Overlook you will find the best of both worlds.
After viewing the spectacular sunset from the wrap around balcony or through the ceiling to floor windows in the living/dining area, you can relax in the comfortable living room, cook in the gourmet kitchen, and watch TV or movies on the 40' High Definition LCD panel TV with Surround Sound.
You’ll sleep comfortably in the Master Bedroom king sized bed. The en-suite bathroom has a jetted tub, separate shower, and large walk-in closet. Downstairs the guest room has a queen sized bed and shares a beautiful bath that includes a large tub with enclosed shower. The 3rd bedroom is set up for the kids with a bunk bed that sleeps 3 and a futon that could sleep 2 more. It has its own 36” TV plus DVD and a Karaoke player!
Leave your car in the ample parking and walk two blocks to the local restaurants and shops. You can visit Luna Sea Fish House to buy your fish or dine there. Close by is the Green Salmon where you can have a cup of organic coffee or tea. Across the street is C&K market for all your grocery needs. Yachats has it all: a Sunday Farmer’s Market, an ice cream shop, gourmet wine shop, bakery, fly fishing shop, general mercantile, and more.
It is also an easy walk to both the South Shore Tidal Beach for fun in the sand and the North Shore 804 Trail which follows along the Yachats spectacular rocky coastline. The Yachats community is especially proud of the newly inaugurated Amanda Trail which winds it’s way south to the top of Cape Perpetua.
Dogs love the beach and are welcome to join you (2 Maximum) at The Overlook. The balcony can be closed off so your pooch can securely lounge in the sun. There is also a kennel in the garage where your dog can sleep comfortably while you are off shopping or beach combing.
We pride ourselves on our cleanliness. All of the bedding (including mattress pads and blankets) are washed after every rental. We take particular care after we have dog visitors. Our cleaning staff takes the extra time to steam clean the flooring plus they find and remove every nose print from the numerous windows!
Come stay with us for comfortable living with a fabulous view and fun exploring the wonderful village of Yachats.

We were so happy with the Overlook house. It was a home away from home. The view was incredible! We were lucky enough to have some deer come down to nibble on the bushes while we were there. We can't wait to stay there again!

Amazing views out of huge windows -- looking in one direction is the ocean and the other is the river. We had a windy, winter rain storm while we were there and the living room was quite the front-row seat. The couches and beds were comfortable (king bed in master -- yay!), the linens were nice, the blinds in every room provided privacy, and the place was spotless. We liked the decor style with lots of beautiful, well-kept tile. Since we were staying in, we wished for better lighting in the living room for reading and beading, (floor lamps maybe?) but it's pretty hard to beat near perfection! All the creature comforts were much appreciated. It's a split-level with stairs, so I wouldn't bring my 80+ parents, but the two of us loved it. Kitchen and master are upstairs, nice for a get-away for a couple -- with extra bedrooms downstairs if you have the kids along. Several good restaurants are within walking distance.

One month stay
One month stay
We had a wonderful month at the Overlook. We watched many beautiful sunsets right from the living room, or from the deck--even saw whale spouts from the living room one evening. Kitchen was well stocked. House was spacious - plenty of room to spread out, hang clothes, and put stuff away. Very clean and well maintained. Bed was large and comfortable. Washing machine and dryer worked great. Walking distance to the Amanda trail - beautiful views and great for trail running and you can hike all the way to Cape Perpetua look out point--or you can drive a mile or so if you'd rather, to explore the Cape Perpetual trails. About a mile to the sandy beach, but a beautiful walk along the shore to get there from Smelt Sands State Park. Just a block into town for anything you need, including the coffee shop and grocery store. Highly recommend.

Perfect In Every Way!
Perfect In Every Way!
This house could not have been more perfect. This was easily one of the cleanest and best stocked vacation rentals that we've ever stayed in. The kitchen was equipped with every item that we needed, and I was traveling with people who like to cook! The beds were comfortable. The views from the front windows and porch are amazing. The location is excellent; restaurants, shops, grocery store and beach in Yachats are all within walking distance. Everything in this house was just so well-maintained. Are you sensing a theme here? This house is great! The only downside is that we had to leave. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. We will be back!

Great low key spot with a view

Spent Thanksgiving with my mother and niece and had a great time. My mother is 77 and loved to just watch the waves from the couch. I trail run and found some great trails in the area and was able to get 6+ miles per day without repeating. The Oregon trail goes right by the house. Good pavement runs or walks along the beach too if you like that. My mother and niece loved the tide pools within walking distance. Small market a block away. Quiet place but Not many restaurants close, but busier Newport is just 20 minutes away. Can't think of much else I'd want. Will very likely be back.

We had a GREAT time staying in the Overlook. It is meticulously clean and comfortable. The house is equipped with everything you need at your own home. The only thing we needed to get was soy sauce to cook in the beautiful kitchen! And buying soy sauce from the local C&K market was such a short and enjoyable walk. It was so easy to walk to other local crafts stores and the ice cream shop. Our favorite time staying in the house was having dinner while watching the beautiful ocean waves. We loved our stay and we will be back again.

This place was very easy to find, and was very clean. We loved the quiet of the neighborhood and the view from the windows and the wrap around porch. It was an easy walk to the little market and cute shops. I would definitely stay here again.

It's such a relief when a property exceeds expectations, especially when traveling cross country with kids. I'm writing this on our last night in yachats (after 1 week) and we've had an amazing time. This may be one of the cleanest places we've stayed, especially considering it's proximity to the coast. TONS of room, larger than expected. Upstairs there is a beautiful living / dining room and kitchen with wrap around windows and deck access, master bedroom and very large bathroom + 2nd bathroom. Downstairs 2 more bedrooms + bathroom, one with queen bed, other with futon and bunk beds. Also noticed several cots in closet. Comfortable furniture in living room for lounging and reading. Kitchen is well stocked with utensils and cookware. Washer and dryer came in handy so we could pack less. BEAUTIFUL view. We found the CK market (a short walk down the road) to be extremely convenient for groceries. Also fantastic was the green salmon for coffees and food and luna sea for seafood. The candy / ice cream shop down the street was also a hit with our kids. Yachats in prime location on coast. Strawberry hill provided the best tide pools (explored way down beach north of entrance, TONS of starfish at low tide among other critters). Hobbit beach was AMAZING. The hike to the Haceta lighthouse was beautiful (saw whales from the platform). Enjoyed an evening fire/cookout on beach below the house. Cape Perpetua probably an 8 minute drive south. TONS to do if you like the outdoors, most of it within a 20 minute drive. We are already planning our trip back next summer, hopefully to stay in the overlook again. Made a perfect place for adults and young kids to really settle in and enjoy one of the most beautiful places in the country/world (in my opinion). Seriously, it rivals the west/southwest coast of ireland which I previously held up as the most beautiful place we've been. So, obviously we're super happy with the place. Here's a few things to note: No direct beach access, which I don't think it claims to have and was not a problem for us. Beach access at low tide is doable down the road if you walk through the yachats river on the sand (where it meets the ocean). At higher tide, it's probably a 1/4 mile walk (or drive) up the 101 to yachats beach road. If you have young children (we have 2, the youngest 14 months) consider the stairs up to the the main area (we got a cheap baby gate at the fred meyers in florence which made our lives much easier). AMAZING, thanks Nan!

Manager response: Thanks for your kind words. You did a fine job discovering all the wonderful things to do and see in Yachats and on the spectacular Central Oregon Coast. See you next summer!
Nice location. No real good quick easy access to the beach. Didn't start out overly well when we arrived in the evening, the smoke detector battery was chirping about every minute. Called the person managing the house who said she'd get the handyman out to change it and he never showed up. We never received a follow up call from her again. Emailed the owner from onsite to let her know about this and she never responded to the message either. We ended up going to the store to purchase a battery ourselves and my husband stood on the back of a chair to get it installed. Not overly impressed with the lack of communication. I get it that things like this happen but It's how the situation is handled that leaves a lasting impression. Overall the house was nice. There was construction being done on the wrap around porch so we couldn't let our kids go out there which was also not communicated to us ahead of time so that was a little disappointing. The tarp that covered it was loud in the wind, especially in the bedroom below. I would recommend this property and hope that the little snafu's we had aren't typical.

Manager response: Ouch! Sorry to Dan and Jen. (Come stay with us again and I will make it up to you.) This is not how we usually do our business. Our contractor found dry rot and then left for the holiday weekend without putting things back in place or letting us know about the tarp. Rest assured that it is all cleaned up and fixed by now.
