We had a fantastic stay on Kat and Evan's boat/yacht/hotel. Everything is as described and pictured! While on the boat, we spent most of our time lounging and relaxing on the top deck - people watching, sunning, reading, and grilling steaks and seafood. Fish caught from our fishing trip at Ventura Sport Fishing, and prawns bought from the Saturday morning seafood market, just a short 5 minute walk from the boat. Evan and Kat are wonderful! (And Kat, I'm so sorry - I would have left more fish if I had known there are 3 of you!) Thank you Evan for the Brophy Bros. recommendation! A happy hour not to be missed - they were really generous with their pours and great food to go with it! If you book on "My Way" - an absolute must is kayaking. The harbor is huge, very calm, friendly boaters, and curious seals - perfect environment for leisurely kayaking every day. Thanks Kat, for being so patient with me and all my questions. We had a great time, and we'll be back!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

The description and photos of this houseboat are spot on. Once you are on board you will see how wonderful everything is. It is well-appointed and very tastefully decorated. It is like your home away from home. The place was spotless and tidy and there was no problem getting in touch with the owners. Both of them were very helpful and prompt. I HIGHLY recommend staying here. We now have plans to re-visit so we can tour Santa Cruz island in summer 2012. There is an abundance of eateries nearby; we dined out our first night. The next day we bought fresh fish & produce from the local markets and cooked up a storm. Climbing up and watching the sun rise from the top deck is incredible. DO NOT MISS THIS!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This may be one of the best kept vacation secrets & surpassed our expectations! We enjoyed meeting the yacht owners, Kat & Evan, who gave us a grand tour of the yacht & harbor! The 3-level yacht has 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, full kitchen, grill, living room & deck! It's affordable yet luxurious as well as comfortable. We particularly loved all that Ventura Harbor has to offer: restaurants, shops, happy hours, music, activities, rentals (kayaks, bikes, boats, etc). This is truly a unique vacation experience that allows us guests to relax & chill. Thank you & God Bless you, Kat & Evan!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

Thank you, Kat and Evan, for sharing your "Floating Hotel"! This is such a perfect description, although it really felt more like our home for the week. There were a lot of really fun activities right on the harbor and we enjoyed some of the local restaurants and shops. Even better was being able to cook or grill right on the boat and relax on the deck with a glass of wine enjoying the sights and sounds of the harbor. There are so many areas to see near by that we did not evan get to all of them and we will surely want to come back and use "My Way" as our home base. This is a great place for families, my boys, ages 11 and 14, thought it was absolutely awesome that we stayed on a boat and loved having their own space in the bunk room,( which by the way had plenty of room--my 14 year old is 5'11"). I never felt like we were too noisy and, likewise, never felt like it was noisy around us. Someone previosly mentioned that the mexican restaurant had loud music going on into late night, but we found it very festive and were sorry that it was over by 10:00 pm! Not only were Kat and Evan friendly, helpful, and gracious hosts, but the other people who own businesses or work along the dock were also very kind and welcoming. Thank you again for a wonderful visit! Sincerely, Russell Family, Albuquerque, NMRecommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

We had an outstanding time on the boat. We are a family of six and it was a blast. The boat was very comfortable, the harbor is filled with lots of friendly people. Kat and Evan were wonderful hosts for their yacht. We loved it and we will be back. There are a ton of cool restaurants as well as being able to cook your own meals with the kitchen and bbq available on the yacht! We highly recommend staying on the boat!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

I would highly recommend this boatel for those seeking a relaxing time in the harbor with live music, good food all with in two minutes walking distance. Those wanting a private yacht experience at the cost of a regular hotel room are in for a special time aboard "My Way". My first mate girlfriend and I, spent two days aboard ship and really enjoyed the Venture Harbor experience. The best food by far was in the Le Petit Cafe and Bakery. One day we ate breakfast and lunch here and ordered french pastries to take back aboard. Best breakfast I have had in 15 years or more. The Village Harbor store has everything you need, ice, beer, spirits, snacks, etc. Captain Evan and First Mate Kat who own "My Way" are very gracious and kind. They will help with any and all questions. We liked them so much we chartered the boat up to Santa Barbara and spent the 4th of July weekend with them watching the fireworks on an anchor. Simply put...Fantastic! Yes the bed is comfortable..all is clean and well maintained as a good ship should be. My favorite spot was topside watching the boats, people and wildlife living the harborside life. You bet...we'll be back! Aloha and God Bless Evan and Kat!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

We are actually staying here now, which will be our 6th night. The yacht is lovely and the owners very nice people. We are grandparents with 7yr old and 16yr old girls. Things to be aware of: Lots of noise: right now it is 7:37PM and it sounds like someone is drilling outside; 4 of the 5 nights so far have been accompanied by extremely loud live music from the Mexican Restaurant just yards away -- nice when you are up top wanting to party, but not so nice if you want to watch a DVD or get a 7yr old to sleep before 1AM. Also, the owners wanted to take the boat somewhere to empty the toilet system after 3-4 days which only takes 30 minutes but they always wanted to do it right at dinner time, not during the day when we were out sight-seeing. It's not a place to prepare food, so be prepared to buy all your meals out. It really only sleeps 3 comfortably. The top bunk has been too hard for any either of our kids so we've used the airbed which takes up the entire living area. If that's what you are looking for -- go for it. Be aware it's not a terribly clean environment but maybe we shouldn't have expected it to be -- lots of dust catchers like wood blinds covered in dust. Feels kind of like camping in a loud parking lot.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 5/5

We had a great experience with Ventura Yacht charters and would definitely recommend this property. The boat was well equipped, clean, and well-maintained. Evan was very helpful with his orientation to the boat and the harbor. We enjoyed the restaurants, shops and beach and so did our dog! The only thing we would have liked to improve was the weather!Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

My wife and i decided to try a different experience while visiting my son and to be daughter in law. We opted to stay on a yacht. When we looked the very best accomodation was to book on "My Way" the ship was everythjing and more than we expected. The hosts keep it impecably clean and welcoming. The quarters are 5 star to say the least. We have travelled and stayed at many high end hotels and this is by far my choice of venue. The surrounding ammenities are great with good food and lively entertainment at nite . Laying on the upper deck watching the harbor seals is extreemly relaxing and watching the diving storks is outstanding. In all I would rate it 10+ as a venue to stay at and we anticipate many more stays with Kat and her husband as our hosts. The price is right and the site is perfect and private so what more can a traveller ask for..Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

We had the most awesome time on the yacht. The photo's were perfect in every manner. My boyfriend and I loved our time there relaxing on the sundeck sipping mimosa, reading the Sunday paper and watching the seals in the harbor. Everything was comfortable and beautifully decorated. You and Evan have an wonderful yacht and Doug and I can't wait for another romantic getaway on it.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
