This cozy Lake Ann home sleeps 6 people. It is located on Lake Ann off a quiet cove near the mouth of the Platte River. Lake Ann is a 570 acre all-sports lake with excellent fishing and abundant wildlife.

This is a unique property in that you and your family get full advantage of an all-sports lake without the noise and traffic of power boats speeding along your shoreline. A private dock is provided - be sure to bring your own pontoon boat, power boat, or jet ski! You may also rent boats and jet skis locally from private companies. Take the 12' fishing boat for a row around the bay or paddle the canoe along the peaceful shoreline. Explore the entire lake with the two kayaks (one of which is equipped for fishing) and discover Lake Ann's secluded nooks and crannies! Feel free to bring along your own small outboard or trolling motor for the rowboat/fishing boat! Splash along the shallow, sandy shoreline! Jump off the end of the dock into the crystal clear water – climbing out is easy with the dock ladder! Some of the best fishing in the lake takes place right off the end of the dock! Rise early enough and you may catch deer drinking at the shore and wandering in the yard!

The lake front yard is very large – approx 100' of lake frontage – providing lots of room for running and playing games. Enjoy the available yard games - croquet, Frisbee golf, lacrosse toss, ladder ball, boom ball, washer toss, and bean bag toss! A hammock is available for extra relaxation near the water. An area around the house is fenced in, keeping children/pets secure. A large fire pit is located lake side, with plenty of firewood available. A small garden shed holds water and yard accessories such as paddles, life vests, chairs, and games. A basketball and several tennis rackets are also located in the shed for use at the Almira Township Park located on Ole White Drive.

All bedrooms are located on the main floor. The master bedroom is very large and will easily accommodate a playpen or portable crib. The kitchen table sits 6-8 people comfortably. A roomy 3-season porch with seating for 10 is located off the main living room - with breathtaking views of the lake, it is guaranteed to be a favorite gathering place! Open the porch windows and enjoy summer evenings with family and friends! Head outside to the deck and take advantage of the stainless gas grill!

The main floor bathroom is equipped with a standard tub/shower. The TV (located in the living room) has a DVD player. Listen to your favorite CDs using the CD player located in the kitchen. Assorted board games/puzzles/card games/books provided. Keep cool under the ceiling fans located in the master bedroom and living/dining area.

Kids will enjoy hanging out in the lower level walk-out with sectional couch, cable TV, DVD player, Nintendo 64/game cartridges, computer with games, an air hockey table, a foosball table, and a ping pong table. Play Texas Hold 'em with the portable poker felt table top. Watch movies from the DVD movie collection available for your use! The newly remodeled lower level bathroom is equipped with a large shower. The laundry room is also located on the lower level.

This home is centrally located to numerous activities. Many golf courses provide excellent golfing, and the famous Lake Michigan beaches of Empire/Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes are only 20 minutes away. The Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore was recently voted the best beach area in the nation by Good Morning America! Take the entire family for a one-of-a-kind experience at the Cherry Bowl Drive-in in Honor. Traverse City is only 14 miles east with excellent shopping and restaurants. Visit local wineries along the Leelanau/Mission peninsulas. Take a fall color-tour along the famous route M-22; the scenery along that roadway is magnificent during September and October. The state park is only minutes away with hiking/biking trails. Take in a concert or live theatre presentation at Interlochen Center for the Arts, less than 15 minutes away. Be sure to visit the Lake Ann Grocery in downtown Lake Ann. The store is amazingly stocked, having almost everything anyone could ever need! DVDs are also available for rent at the LA Grocery.

The first thing you'll notice is how CLEAN this home is, and this is from someone who is picky about that! Definitely a home rather than a cottage, there is more than enough space in just about every room. Not that you'll need it, because you'll spend every evening in the lovely screened-in porch. :) Location of home is great in terms of going anywhere within the Leelanau Peninsula. House is at the end of a cove on the lake so the water by the shore quickly gets mucky and deep, but the water levels are lower than normal this year, and the location also means the lot is private and quiet. The lake is clean and the deck ladder allows for easy swimming off the end of the dock. There is every "toy" you could ever want, from the boat/canoe/kayaks to ping-pong/foosball/air hockey. Karen (owner) is great to work with and was always prompt to reply to a phone message or email. My only suggestion would be a room air-conditioner in the main space, as it was 95 when I got there! Fans in every room did help. Overall, it's a lovely vacation rental- and it is obvious that Karen works hard to give her renters a great experience!

Owner response: Thank you for your observations and kind words. The cleanliness the home is very important to us, and we do work hard to ensure our guests have the best vacation experience possible. The lake bottom does tend to get soft approximately 8-10 feet from shore, especially along the dock, but the shoreline is very firm and sandy. We find the shallow water along the shore is perfect for young children as they wade and play in the water. The dock ladder makes it possible to enter and exit the water very safely and easily - swimmers do not have to walk through the soft, loamy bottom to reach the deeper, clear water off the end of the dock. We also enjoy spending time on the 3 season/screened porch - it's a wonderful place to enjoy the lake breezes and the sounds of summer, not to mention the great views! Thank you so much for choosing our lake house for your vacation and sharing your experience - we hope you created special memories that will last a lifetime!

We stayed at this Lake Ann home in 2011 and decided it was so nice we'd do it again! We enjoyed our stay once more. We brought our trolling motor this time for the rowboat. My daughter and I motored over to the Lake Ann general store provisions for lunch since we were stranded one day without a car. Conveniently located to all the areas we were interested in seeing. Recommendations: Try the beach in Elberta...beautiful sweeping views and wide sand beach. Check out Willow Winery & Black Star Farms on the Leelanau peninsula. Everyone's friendly and the food great at the Mackinaw Brewery restaurant in Traverse City. Lots of great deals on clothing at Momentum in Traverse City. The fenced in yard is great for our dogs. Everything you need in the kitchen. Love the 2 kayaks. Love the screened in porch.

What a fabulous experience! The property was better than described, and our owners made it one of our best experiences with VRBO! NW Michigan offers great fishing and kayaking lakes, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Fishtown with the Cove restaurant serving the freshest Whitefish and Perch, Peg Town, and Traverse Cities Moomers ice cream! We love this area-and we will return to this lovely property!

One of the best vacations we have ever had - perfect weather - very well supplied rental - we all agreed that we would attempt to schedule a redo! Great location - quiet setting, state forest with hiking trails within walking distance, local general store is awesome, and of course Traverse City is within 15-20 minutes. Owners were very helpful and communicated very promptly - would highly recommend this property!

Beautiful lakeside yard located right in between everything you want to do in Traverse City surroundings. It had everything we needed: inside and out. Everything was clean and in working order. We enjoyed the peacefulness of the large yard and beautiful crystal clear lake. We had our dogs along and it was great to just be able to let them out the front door or back door and not have to worry about them wandering off. Although it's been a hot summer this year, we lucked out and had PERFECT weather everyday...not too humid, not too hot. The cottage has no air conditioner and for the most part, we didn't miss it but if had been as hot as the rest of the USA has been in 2011, that might have been an issue, I suppose. The stairs to the basement area and second bathroom were quite steep. Not too steep for the teenager, the 20 something and the able-bodied ones with us. A little off putting for more sedentary and our little dogs but we could always just go out the front door and walk around and enter from the back door instead. Loved, loved the kayaks...large enough to even accommodate my 6'7" nephew. We rented a pontoon for a day...great fun and enjoyed the lake more fully; seeing our neighbor's places from the water. Took along a picnic lunch too. The pontoon rental was surprisingly pricey, we thought. We comparative shopped and found that the owner's recommended boat rental person was substantially lower than others in the area. The owners offered great tips on how to enjoy our stay and replied to our every question promptly. I really felt like the owners wanted us to enjoy our stay at their place. We enjoyed the Mission peninsula wineries, the Underground Cheesecake shop in Traverse City, Knot Just A Bar in Omena, the beach in the town of Empire (dog friendly too), and the Omelette Shoppe on Cass Street in Traverse City. The Pierce Stocking drive, particularly "stop marker" #9 was amazing, as well as the drive along the Leelanau & Mission peninsulas. We KNOW we missed seeing so much more but we ran out of time. We were torn between wanting to spend time at the cottage and the offerings of the area! Would love to come back when the cherry trees are blooming. This cottage is well-priced and within 20 minutes in any direction to a lot of things to do.

Owner response: We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and took advantage of all the area has to offer! We do want our renters to feel welcome, and we have tried to create the perfect northern Michigan vacation setting. The stairs leading to to lower level are somewhat steep, but enclosing one side, along with the addition of the handrail/ banister on the other, have made the stairwell much more safe and navigable. A safety lock is also provided on the doorway to the stairs to limit stairwell access to young children. We have found that most people are able to use the stairs safely, including very young children and my parents, who are in their mid 70s. True, it can be expensive to rent a pontoon, but we are pleased you were able to use our recommended rental company - it's nice to keep the business in the community! Again, we so appreciated you choosing our lake house for your vacation - hopefully you created special family memories that you all will remember through the years!

This lake house is spotless, cozy and fully equipped with every thing you could possibly need. There is a spacious yard with plenty of room for activities and an area for a campfire with wood. There is a sandy swimming area for toddlers near the dock. A breeze was always coming through the windows which made for good sleeping. There is a screened-in porch off the main living area and it is great for reading, playing cards or just listening to the birds and loons. The fishing is quite good on this lake and you can catch bass and pan fish right off the dock. I look forward to returning to this delightful getaway as soon as possible. The owners are great people to deal with and easy to talk to.

My family and I have rented many cottages in the Traverse City area. For the money, this was by far the most reasonable property we have ever rented. The home was well maintained and very clean. It had everything we needed. We are boat owners and it was great being able to dock our boat right in front of the cottage. The house is in a small and very private cove so it was quiet and our children enjoyed swimming right off the dock. They also fished from the dock and caught some nice size fish. The owners answered all of our questions and recommend some activities they thought our family would enjoy. We will definitely rent this property again.

We stayed at this rental property in July 2010. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone. It was clean, well maintained and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We were close to Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City and many wineries. The best part was the tranquility that we felt when we relaxed on this quiet part of Lake Ann and the coziness of this home. When we took a short boat ride to the main part of the lake, we were stunned at the beauty. Lake Ann provides both the fun of vacationing on a lake and the relaxation that you crave. Truly what you look for when visiting Northern Michigan.

We stayed at this lake house on two different occasions during the summer of 2009. Overall, it really was a great place to stay and quite an affordable deal for how nice the property was. The house itself was in excellent condition - very clean and well maintained. The kitchen was fullly stocked with all the necessary appliances and had a large table for the family to have meals together. It was so peaceful to go out on the porch and look out onto the lake with a cup of coffee. The bedrooms and bathrooms were in great condition and plenty of room for our family of 4. The kids really liked the lower level area with the games and TV. The best part about this place has to be the yard... it is HUGE! Plenty of outdoor space to play, suntan, have campfires, and walk along the shore. Lake Ann itself is beautiful - We would definitely come back to this house again in the future!

Why the Owner Chose Lake Ann:
My parents have had a home in Lake Ann for almost 20 years, and my husband and I fell in love with the area after vacationing here yearly with our children. A surprising opportunity presented itself, and before long, we also became property owners in Lake Ann. We actually had no intention on renting out the house, but after we were relocated to NC, it sat idle for most of the year. We decided that until we were able to return, we should share the special benefits of this home with others who love Northern Michigan!

The Unique Benefits at this House:
This is the most relaxing place in the world! We enjoy the quiet atmosphere, the wildlife, the lakeside setting, and Traverse City offerings. We get all the benefits of the lake - the loons swimming in our bay, the great fishing, the boating and tubing, the quality family time! All of us look forward to playing cards on the porch, bonfires and s'mores lakeside, and just being together! You just can't beat early morning coffee on the deck - picture-perfect sunshine reflecting off a water surface smooth as glass................. life doesn't get any better than that!
