We highly recommend a stay as Casa Bella. We're a family of four with young children who stayed in this nice apartment for three nights over spring break. This apartment is ideally situated to most things in Rovinj and is located just above the market where locals sell fresh fruits/ vegetables and other local products. The apartment had everything we needed as far as basics and was relaxing to say the least. There was no hidden costs or additional costs and it was advertised exactly as described. The owner's father met us on our check in and out day and arranged everything we needed for our trip to include free parking and drop off / pick up of our luggage from our car. He also gave us a detailed run down of the apartment, Rovinj and other things to do in the local area. Although we did not meet the owner personally, we were provided with a local cell phone and she called us to welcome us as well as offer her services if necessary. Additionally, she was quick o answer any emails we sent. Just 50 meters to the left of your exit is a wine shop that will open just about any bottle to allow you to test prior to purchasing a bottle. We suggest the local grape of Teran, very nice red that we enjoyed. I was able to run daily while there, it was a beautiful route thru a local and the pleasant run took me right along the cost for most of the way. Pula is within an hour and has a few very impressive remains of the Roman occupation to include one of 6 standing Amphitheaters. My children enjoyed climbing over the stairs and having lunch by the Jupiter monument. By far the best eating we had was the final night. Scuba, just down the road was a pleasant surprise. Although we spent about 80 euros on dinner, it was a huge seafood platter for 2 and a meat platter for the kids, to include a nice bottle of local white wine to wash it down. The owners of this particular restaurant was very nice and quick. We are early dinner eaters and going there at 5PM was right along with our plans. Thank you for your hospitality. We will surly recommend this location to all our friends and family.Owner response: Thank you very much for sharing your experience of both Rovinj and Casa Bella, we are delighted to hear that you had an enjoyable stay! Early seasons such as March and April offer a possibility for a relaxing stay in Rovinj and one can really experience the authentic atmosphere of our small town, just as you did. We are glad that both the town and Casa Bella met your expectations and we are already looking to your next visit! Family Despot

My wife and I have stayed in Pansions, Sobes, Hotels and Apartmans all over Croatia and we rate the service at Casa Bella the very best! Željka and Željko do more than anyone would expect to provide information and service to their holiday guests. We booked Casa Bella because of the great reviews and we were not disappointed. Everything we needed for our stay was provided, even help with rental cars, maps, parking and even personal tours through the winding streets of this ancient Croatian city. It was especially meaningful for us in that we had special friends over from the States who rarely travel. They were treated to the best of Croatian hospitality, something that must come from the heart and cannot be faked. Our friends went home with lots of great memories and I'm sure they will be telling their friends about their wonderful stay in Rovinj!Owner response: Thank you very much for dedicating time to reflect on your stay and sharing it with other travellers that will be thinking about visiting Rovinj and Croatia. We are very happy that you felt so comfortable at the apartment, and that you enjoyed our small town that we are so proud of! We will make sure to keep up with providing all our guests with useful information and local tips, enabling our every guest to have the most memorable Croatian holiday! Looking forward to meeting you again! Zeljka and family.

Casa Bella is an absolute star of an apartment with your every need catered for, everything from a mini tour of our surroundings to a mobile phone to contact if we needed any advice or help . We have stayed at many hotels and apartments but this one sets the bench mark. The welcome and hospitality is outstanding as commented on by everyone before us, you are treated with such respect and warmth a special thanks to Zeljka and Zeljko. Istria is amazing we stayed at 3 apartments (of which this was our favourite) and there is so much to see and do. Rovinj is beautiful all cobbled streets ancient buildings and artisans, you just step back in time chill and absorb the atmosphere. On Zeljkas recomendation we ate at Scuba and in fact it was so good we ate there for 4 out of our 5 evenings and totally regretted not making it 5. You will not be disappointed with this place it is an absolute gem and we will be returning. Enjoy.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

....Continued because there is just so much to say....The living room was large, great internet and TV and they even lent us a local cell phone. I’m telling you, you could not find a better deal or family in Rovinj. Now I know why they are booked for months. We stayed over a month in Europe in 7 different countries and we did not have a better experience than this one. Okay this would be a glowing review if I stopped here but I must continue a bit more. The third night we did not have a room and it was a weekend (still the busiest weekend of the year). We had been trying all day with 4-5 of the regular agencies to find a room and Nothing!!! We were dreading the thought of leaving the Casa Bella and worried that we might not find a room at all. Zelika’s Father said he would help and boy did he. He walked me personally to 4 different travel agencies and then got Zelika on the phone to start calling. They were even having trouble locating a room. It did not look good. Then Zelika’s father took us to a close friend of his daughters who is also a travel agent and explained the situation…sweet talked her a bit in the native tongue and hooked us up with an apartment right above the travel agency. Not sure how he did it but we did not complain. Okay it does not stop here. The next morning unbeknownst to us there was a plumbing issue with the new apartment. Zelika’s father went over at 7am to the new apartment and accessed the situation then called his personal plumber to take a look and fix the problem all before we got there. Then he helped us carry all our luggage to the new place. Keep in mind that this rental is not his and he has no financial gain from this apartment on the third night. He was doing all of this to help our family! THEN the next morning we had a fairy to Venice at 7:00am. Guess who showed up at our door at 6:30am to make sure we caught our fairy and helped us get to the right spot for check in. THIS IS TWO DAYS LATER after we checked out of his Casa Bella Appt! This man and his family are the epitome of good service and a wonderful vacation rental. I would invite this man and his family to stay at my personal residence in CA if they ever came to visit. We owe a fabulous time in Croatia (Rovinj) to this man and his family. If this place is available you would be NUTS not to stay at their Casa Bella apartment!!!!Did you find this review helpful? After two weeks on an organized tour, using 4-star hotels, four of us (seniors) rented the Casa Bella apartment in Rovinj. I would take this Casa over those hotels anytime. It is not as plush, but far more comfortable and in a perfect location. Yes we had two flights of stairs so it was not as convenient as a hotel with elevators, but it was downtown, overlooking the market and the Adriatic Sea. We were provided a huge welcome bowl of grapes, a carton of juice and bottles of water as well as lots of helpful food condiments and soaps - all graciously provided by Zelika and her father, Zeljko. When we realized that we would arrive later than anticipated we were warmly told, “I hope that you are having a good time - no problems with the late arrival.” We called again when we were an hour away and were met near the apartment by Zeljko who helped carry up our suitcases! Their bend over backwards attitude, their personal welcome and explanations, and their providing us with a cell phone reflect their excellent service to us as their guests. And having nearby free parking was another bonus. We immediately knew that we would love it at Casa Bella. The Despot team is hospitable and tourist friendly! Be prepared, the building is about 200 years old, but the apartment was clean, neat, and spacious, and it reflected the historical charm which we wanted and liked. Casa Bella is THE place for you to stay, as long as you don’t reserve the week we want when we return!! I rate it as tops, in every aspect. Rovinj was a great town for wandering. We loved the morning sounds of sea gulls and people in the market – and the quiet late nights. We ate many of our meals in the apartment but also ate at small restaurants but our favorite was a grilled pork meal by the Lim Canal. The area has much to offer: we particularly appreciated Pula's Roman ruins, the mosaics in the basillica in Porec, and the hill towns.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We had such a great time in Rovinj and Zelijka and her lovely Dad really made this time the success that it was. We are a family with 2 children aged 3 and 5yrs and found the apartment lovely and spacious and ideal for our needs. It was rather warm that week but everywhere is Europe has had a very hot summer. Rovinj is a great spot, lovely pebble beaches within walking distance and many great restaurants and shops at your back door. The market below the house was a great spot to do your vege and fruit shopping and the supermarket and bakery are within 5 mins. There is a playground beside the market below the house making this an ideal spot for families. We flew to Perugia and it was only 45 minutes by private car. Definately recommend this holiday destination and the apartment is great, but mainly because having a person like Zelijka at the end of the phone for your every need is just amazing. Thank you again Zelijka and hope to see you again one day.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Casa Bella is by far the accomodation that I will be comparing all others to from now on. The kindness and sincerity of the hosts is outstanding. They have the upmost repect and take care of their guests and their concerns like they were family. Everything from mini tour of our surroundings to parking was handled with upmost care. If you are looking for old vintage vibe and a place in the middle of cobblestone roads with numerous cafe-bars, artisans and laid back environment this is the place for you. Being atop of a fresh fruit and vegetable market is most convenient. The apartment is spacious and comfortable, the atmoshphere is calming, the people are genuinely pleasant, the cafe-bars are plenty and the views are spectacular! You will not be disappointed with this place. It is a gem to discover with so many excursions and day trips to surounding islands. and we will most definitely be heading back to visit Zeljka and Zeljko Despot. this is a 10 in our books!Owner response: Thank you ever so much for your sincere reflection on your holiday at Casa Bella and in Rovinj, it is our great pleasure to hear that you have had a great time and enjoyed the spirit and atmosphere both of apartment and our town! We will keep up providing our guests with local tips and information so that all our present and future guests also take the best of their stay and experience real Rovinj as you did! Our information book and library at Casa Bella are getting larger every day, so I am sure many of our guests will follow your footsteps:) Thank you once again for being our guests and we already look forward to meeting you again soon!

We had the same experience as described in previous reviews. We were warmly welcomed, the apartment was great, we had everything we needed and Zeljko gave us the best welcoming apartment tour we have ever had. A small problem with the wireless internet was dealt with instantly. We loved Rovinj and Istria, there is a nice mix of historic/cultural sites and outdoor activities. During our week we enjoyed exploring Rovinj and the Golden Cape, Pula, and the hill towns of Groznan (our favourite), Motovun and Hum. Rovinj is convenient to everything in Istria and the apartment is convenient to everything in Rovinj. Even more important, everyone we met was friendly and helpful. We mostly cooked out own meals but enjoyed a meal at Scuba and had the best pizza ever at S. Giacomo which now has tables outside. There's still lots to explore and we'd love to come back. I would definitely recommend Rovinj and this apartment to friends and family. HomeAway listing: we really appreciated that there was a photo with an arrow pointing to the house. It made the house easy to find despite the icon on the map being down the street. Also, the listing says that the apartment is suitable for the elderly and infirm. It might be a good idea to point out that there are two flights of stairs up to the apartment. No problem for us but might be difficult for anyone with mobility issues.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I were vacationing/honeymooning with family for 16 days. Rovinj was only a one night trip from Venice, because we had time. If we had knows the beauty and friendliness of the Deposts and the Croatian people we would have made this a longer stay. Zeljka and her father were more than helpful for our one night stay. We got a person tour from Zelkja's father and a wonderful dinner suggestion at SCUBA, that we were delighted with. We will be keeping in touch with the Deposts and returning to Rovinj and their rental. The rental was perfect for more than four people and in a great location for walking to Old Town. The view from the rental is beautiful, the beds are comfortable, the apartment is large and perfect for cooking on your own if you so choose. The market is just below the windows and swimming is a beautiful 4 minute walk from the flat. We can not say enough good things about this rental.Did you find this review helpful? My family spent 5 weeks in Casa Belle as we explored Rovinj and Istria. This apartment was the perfect home base for us. Since we stayed for 5 weeks, Casa Belle was our home away from home rather than a couple day holiday stay. Here are some of the best things about Casa Belle. Casa Belle is in a perfect location. It is right in old town with easy access to restaurants, shops, parking access, and great walks around the Golden Cape. The green market is directly below the apartment, but there is no problem with noise. The views are also amazing. You can enjoy your meals looking out at the beautiful blue Adriatic waters. The apartment is a great setup for families. The bedrooms were setup nicely; the common space is large and open. Since we stayed in the apartment for 5 weeks, we did a lot of cooking and eating inside the house. Everything you need is available for you. The owners even installed a dedicated high speed Internet line so I would be able to work out of the apartment. Last, but not least, the apartment owners Zelka and Zelko are amazing people. After renting apartments all over the world, they are easily the nicest hosts I have ever met. They work very hard on making their guest comfortable, providing information on activities and sites around Rovinj and Istria. Zelka helped find a place to celebrate my daughter’s birthday in Rovinj and she loved it. They truly want their guests to have a memorable time while staying at their apartment. I'm grateful to have met them and hope to stay in touch with them. My family loved Istria and Rovinj. Staying there for so long we were able to experience a lot of things that a short trip would not allow. Staying at Casa Belle was perfect for us and we look forward to visiting again. I would highly recommend anyone staying in Rovinj to stay at Casa Bella.Owner response: Dear Amit and family, first of all thank you very much for sharing your experience of Rovinj and Casa Bella, it was a great pleasure for my family and myself to read that you have truly enjoyed your stay! We did not expect that you will have time to reflect on your stay in Rovinj, as we know that you are enjoying the rest of your travel in Europe at the moment!:) We are glad that our efforts paid off, and for sure will stay committed to help all our future guests to experience Casa Bella and Rovinj the way you did! We are grateful to have met you too and sincerely look forward to your next visit! There are still so many secluded and idyllic beaches and islands just across the apartment to discover once you are back!:) The best of luck to you all and see you soon! We hope that bear Truffle and his small owners are enjoying another nice and comfy home away from home! Zelka and family Despot
