1st part of review below Dishwasher soap and Tide was provided which was really helpful. There are tons of sheets, blankets and pillows. There are enough towels for everyone. There are 2 washing machines and 2 dryers. Also ironing board/iron etc. It’s really very well equipped. The beds are reasonably comfortable. The rooms are lovely with beautiful views of either the bay or the yard or trees or whatever! We didn’t use the porch much because it was October and getting a little chilly but it was wonderful and I would have lived out there if we were there earlier in the year. All around, this is a terrific place, especially for a large family gathering. We loved being under one roof and so enjoyed the wonderful meals, laughter, stories, and general revelry that we had. The back yard is beautiful. If you arrive in the dark, it’s a bit tricky to find, but it only takes one time! The driveway is a bit narrow so be careful if you are bringing in a large rig. Plenty of room to park though. It is 2 short blocks to the grocery store which has a good selection of produce, baking supplies etc. Downtown is 3 blocks the other way. Everything in Bar Harbor is accessible. The park is heavenly in Autumn. Thanks for sharing your home with all of us travelers! We absolutely loved it! Chris

Our family traveled from all over the country to meet in Bar Harbor and stay at La Maisonette. We used every part of the house as there were 14 of us (actually 16 on one night). Everyone was comfortable and had plenty of space. We ate nearly all meals at the house so the kitchen(s) were very important to us. There are 2 refrigerators, 2 ranges, many sets of dishes, plenty of silverware and lots of cooking utensils. We like to eat lots of good stuff so we needed (and brought with us) a few things to facilitate lots of baking and cooking: a Kitchen Aide stand up mixer and 12 cup food processor were always in use. Although it sounds like a decadent request, it would be great if there were 2 dishwashers. We had one going almost non-stop. We laughed about the “mysterious disappearing water pitcher” which was a very cute, small pitcher and we kept putting it away and couldn’t find it. It was filled and refilled dozens of times. There is a waffle maker, a griddle (not electric, FYI), lots of skillets but none are non-stick so if you like that type of pan, bring them. There is not much tupperware (it probably gets tossed when people leave) or storage type plastic ware. There was a lot of baking pans but I still used my own 2 cake pans to make a 3 layer cake and another one on top of that. There are pie dishes, I think 2. There are good knives (Henckels) but hopefully they will be professionally sharpened over the down season. I actually brought 3 good knives and we used all of them constantly. We were the last bunch of the season so there were many cooking staples such as flour, sugar, cinnamon, ground ginger, Pam cooking spray, vegetable oil, tea, baking soda. I did bring a bunch of spices for baking. The place was completely cleaned when we arrived. The kitchen worked well. There is one large kitchen with lots of counter space and also a butlers pantry (which is basically the 2nd kitchen) where we stored lots of stuff. I really enjoyed cooking in the kitchen which is set up well. There are 2 tables in the kitchen so lots of people would hang out in that area but we did end up eating meals in the dining room (with one of the kitchen tables moved out there) to accommodate our large crowd. We did have lobster one night...made a mess but had a great time. There is a complete set up for lobster, nothing to bring (except the lobster and butter!). The rest of the review is in the next review block. Couldn't fit it in here and I think it's useful info.

Our extended family group of 11 had plenty of room and found lots to do in this truly lovely vacation home. The house was immaculately clean and everything was in good working order. The two kitchens were very well stocked with all the cookware, bakeware, dishes and utensils we needed to create great family meals. The furniture and beds were comfy and cozy for the cool September nights we had, and we made nearly constant use of the dishwasher and 2 sets of washers/dryers. The location is ideal - an easy walk to the grocery store, many shops and restaurants, and also to the sand bar that can be walked across at low tide to an island with a great view of Bar Harbor. Since we were just a few miles from Acadia, some of our number hiked/biked there, while the more sedentary enjoyed leisurely car rides with frequent stops on the Park Loop Road. A few of the many high points of our visit - watching the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain, taking a carriage ride up Day Mountain, playing foosball and other games from the amply stocked game cupboard, and eating delicious lobster and clam chowder at Stewman's. There was even a good sports bar (Little Anthony's) around the corner from the house so we didn't miss the Sunday games! We had ages from young adult to retirees in our group, and everyone had a great time.

Our family of 11 people, 6 adults and 5 kids (2-12 years) spent a week in Bar Harbor at La Maisonette. This house is wonderful. There is enough space for everyone to spread out or be together, whatever the need of the moment. The kids loved playing hide and seek in all the rooms, hallways and closets. The whole house is very comfortable and airy with huge windows to let in the wonderful ocean breeze. The kitchen is large and newly renovated, the scene of many family cooked meals. Location is a real plus for La Maisonette. Within a few minutes you can be anywhere in Bar Harbor, we walked everywhere, grocery, shopping, restaurants, the Bar at low tide and Agamont park where the kids played every evening. Acadia National Park is a few minutes away by car or bike. The front porch was a favorite spot for everyone in the morning and evening. The huge backyard was perfect for the kids to play in. La Maisonette is the best house that our family has stayed in for our family trips during the last 10 years.

Thank you for the wonderful week we had together in Bar Harbor. Spending time with my mom, sister, aunts and cousins far exceeded my expectations. La Maisonette is the perfect home for sharing stories of the past and making so many more fun memories. The 10 of us were so comfortable in your home - it is the perfect layout and the fully stocked kitchen was great.

Our 11 member family of children and 5 grandchildren had such a great time at La Maisonette!! Gathering in the huge kitchen, playing in the big back yard, and playing fooseball on the porch were some of the kids most favorite things. The adults loved all the room we had in the house, the closeness to town( it was nice walking into town at 8:30PM ad picking up that wonderful blueberry pie that had just been baked for us at one of the shops), and being so close to the sandbar. We would definitely love to come back and spend more time discovering Bar Harbor. We give our seal of approval to beautiful La Maisonette and we highly recommend it!!!

We stayed at La Maisonette for a week-long extended family celebration after my son's graduation from college. There were 14 people staying at the house--the youngest was 5 and the oldest 77. This was the absolutely perfect venue for our celebration. The kitchen at the back of the house was a perfect gathering spot for morning coffee. It is an enormous area which easily accommodated all 14 people (two tables and a large island). My brother is a gourmet chef and loved all the high-quality kitchenware (Cuisinart cookware, both good and everyday china as well as everything one needs for lobster!), We had board games and puzzles going in the dining room; sports watching in the living room; cocktail hour on the veranda. The location is superb--we did not need to use our cars and had easy walking access to kayaking and cycling outfitters, many restaurants (Jordan's pancakes are the best!), ice cream shops... The grocery store is behind the house and one block away. Each person in our party stated this was the best vacation they ever had in that we were all together, yet the size and layout of the house allowed people their own space. Everything is top-notch. There are two clothes washing machines and dryers. The dishwasher is the nicest we've ever used--my mom and aunt want one just like it! The only issue is that all of the bedrooms are upstairs. My mother has limited mobility and would have preferred a downstairs bedroom; however, the front stairs are wide and she had no problem navigating them. In addition, there is a restroom downstairs which minimized the problem. The shower in the masterbathroom was easily accessible by her; however, the tubs in the two secondary bathrooms, though beautiful, would be difficult for some older people to manage. Again, I cannot write a review which speaks highly enough of La Maisonette. The owners provide a wonderful notebook which explains how everything works, what to do if there is any sort of problem and lists their favorite places on the island. We cannot wait for another big family event there!

This house was awesome and the location could not be better! You can conveniently walk to all of the shops and restaurants downtown as well as the marina just a block or two away. Not to mention, the sand bar is right around the corner - truly spectacular. While sitting on the front porch, the view of the water across the street is so relaxing. And, the huge back yard makes this house a wonderful place to stay. Hannaford grocery store is convenient and also has a pharmacy, if necessary. The owners have certainly accommodated their guests with everything anyone could want while on vacation - from an abundance of linens to a kitchen designed for a fun family gathering. My family would surely stay here again and look forward to the time we head back up to "La Maisonette" and beautiful Bar Harbor/Acadia Park.

Lovely home in excellent Bar Harbor location (a block from Bar Island, a few blocks to restaurants and shops). The home is spacious and well appointed; we had 14 people in our group and did not feel crowded at all. The kitchen was recently renovated and a pleasure to cook in (granite counters, 6-burner stove, large center island). We thouroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back!

We just returned from a perfect family vacation in Bar Harbor, staying at La Maisonette. It was the perfect home for our large extended family, ages ranging from 11 months to 74 years. The home has great common areas for us to be together (large kitchen, living room, dining room, porch) and plenty of other quiet spots for reading, puzzles, etc. The kitchen is new and very well appointed. We ended up cooking most of our meals at home rather than going out because it was so convenient. The location of the home is ideal, in my opinion. It is right by the Bar Island sand bar, a great spot for the kids to search for shells, star fish, crabs, etc. It is also a few blocks from the center of town. We walked to the bus stop most days and took the free bus to Acadia for hikes, bike rides, beach trips. It was very nice to not be dependent on a car to get around. We had a great family reunion and were very thankful that we chose La Maisonette!
