This BayFront home and Owner Loft is the perfect vacation destination. Located 10 miles North of Traverse City our southerly facing property sits on 250' feet of beachfront and 140 acres of private woodlands.
The total property includes 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths. At the main house real maple flooring, a walkout balcony and custom stonework accent the home. The Owner Loft has an expansive deck available for full scale outdoor entertaining.
Plenty of windows and lots of breeze off the water. All beds have 'down filled pillow top' covers, cotton blankets and throws. 300 count, cotton sheets throughout. There are two washer and dryer units -- one in each property. Plenty of high quality cotton linens and towels as well. Clean carpets cover all rooms on the second floor of the main house and a majority of the Owner Loft.
The loft is self contained with two seperate entrances. There is a large single bedroom, outfitted with a King Bed, along with a fully outfitted kitchen, bath and laundry room. A pullout couch sleeps two and a futon couch is available for a couple of small children. The loft is the perfect fit for Mom & Dad and 2 to 3 small children (this is where my wife and I stay with our girls when we come up North.)
In the main house, the second story Master has its own bathroom, gas fire place and skylight over the shower. Toddlers can be kept close to Mom and Dad in this spacious room (a pack n play or a roll away bed easily fits in here).
A short stroll, down a private hall, and you arrive at the other two bedrooms. Bedroom one (1) faces the lake and has its own walkout balcony. Two new twin beds are situated on either side of the room with lots of windows and breeze in the summer -- on a windy night you will fall asleep listening to the waves breaking on the beach.
Bedroom two (2) is immediately across the hall and it has two cozy twin beds, which are built into the wall 'Craftsman Style.' This room has a large window that faces the woods. A perfect spot for young children or teenagers after a long day at the beach.
The downstairs has lots of windows, comfortable furniture and reading nooks. Maple flooring is located throughout the downstairs with a new plasma TV and plenty of warm lighting.
Plenty of board games and a ping pong table (always set up and waiting in the garage) are ready for some family fun!

Wow, looking at vacation rentals is SUCH a daunting task, there are so many to look at and pictures and words can only convey so much. When it comes down to it, you're spending your precious vacation cash sight unseen and hoping for the best. Well, let me tell you, stop hoping, because this house is the BEST! The location of the house is very convenient, just a short ride off of M22 between Traverse City and Suttons Bay. The home itself faces south facing Traverse City across the bay, The lawn and grounds are impeccable, and there's even a beautiful nature/hiking trail behind the main house. Inside, the home is very well maintained, full of lodge charm in the main living area. The home outside the main den/dining room area was put together to make you feel extremely comfortable and at home. This home was built by the current owners father, and they take extreme pride in the upkeep and presentation of the home. The home itself couldn't be designed better for multiple families to come together and enjoy a great vacation. The master bedroom is very large and roomy and was perfect for my wife, myself and our 4 year old. Once the two doors are shut, it's a very peaceful oasis without ever leaving the house. The rest of the main house is laid out very well, and even with a large group of adults and children it never felt crowded or "overstuffed". Everyone can have thier own space. The king bed suite in the adjoining building is modern and clean as well and can sleep more people than you would think. The beach is PERFECT for familys with small children, as it is very sandy, low on rocks and the water is shallow enough that you can walk out a long way and still be in safely shallow water. We enjoyed a bonfire every nigth at the well maintained bonfire pit. Dave and Kelly (the owners) are very friendly and very easy to deal with business wise. After receiving the tour of the house from Kelly on arrival, we really saw the warmth and love they have for this home that they were rasied in. So, if you need a beautiful clean home with incredible views, perfect for families with children, close to everything, go ahead, rent this house! Just not on the week we'll be there because we are DEFINATELY coming back!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway.

We loved staying at this cottage this summer. We have a four year old and 17 month old and it was just perfect for us. The main house is very spacious, lots of storage space and very well prepared for guests. Our four year old daughter loved the bedroom with built-in-shelves. The grandparents stayed in the owner's loft and it worked out very well. There is a road in front of the cottage (so you have to cross it to walk to the beach, but it is not busy at all). The beach had a nice large sandy beach and very, very gradual entry so our 17 month old could walk around in the shallow water (without falling) and play along with our daughter. The water was clear and there was a soft sandy bottom (nice for the kids). Some other great things--a nice front yard with space for the kids to run around and a trail in the woods behind the house. Our four year old loved the nature walks. The cottage was also well located so it was a really quick drive to Suttons Bay and a short drive to Traverse City. So even on a rainy day you can find things to do close by. I would defintely recommend this cottage!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: Our Family has lived on Grand Traverse Bay since the 1960's. My sister and I grew up playing on the beach and running through the woods with our friends. Kelly lives close by (to help out during your visit) and I live in Seattle with my wife and two young children. We love to come 'home' to Lee Point Road, whenever we can.

The Cherry Festival is a busy summer event, that kicks off in July. Beyond that there are plenty of local parades, art shows and festivals happening in Traverse City all summer long.
