While the view of the Piazza were spectacular and entertaining the apartment itself was a major disappointment. We strongly felt that we should have been told prior to arrival that no paper could be placed in the water closet. I understand this is an old building however, had we known of this major inconvenince we definitely would have stayed elsewhere. The apartment was not very clean. We refused to even make coffee in the apartment because the coffee maker and the utensils were filthy as were the sponges that were available to wash anything. To top it all off there was a nightly marching band and parade at 1:00 am. I am truly happy that they won the horse race but can you at least celebrate at a civilized hour? Save your Euros and stay somewhere else.Owner response: In many old buildings in Italy there is a problem with bathrooms: in the Middle Ages, the home toilets where no exsisting, and my building dates back to XIII Century. We solved the problem with a electric toilet: it works exactly as all the normal toilets, but you should take care not to put paper in there, to avoid occlusion. There is a bin in the bathroom where you should put the toilet paper, and empty it with normal garbage. The Customes understood that the toilet was able to handle only liquid items, but I explained that it was not the case. The apartment has four windows in the Piazza del Campo, a really unique location. After the Palio, the winning Contradas use to parade in the Piazza few times per day, and the last parade is usually around midnight. This is a plus, not a minus: you won't be able to watch something similar in the rest of the world. If you are looking for rest and quiet, pls don't go in the main square of a town. If you choose go in New York Times Square for New year's Eve, you cannot complain about the noise.

The view through the windows upon our arrival nearly took our breath away. A week later it still had the same effect! The apartment itself is lovely and comfortable. An elevator provided relief on those days we felt the steps were just a little too much. The AC unit in the living room worked well enough for the bedroom as well. The only possible negative was getting used to not putting toilet paper in the toilet (I realize this is not unusual in older buildings, however), and the nightly parade at 1 AM in the Campo -- still celebrating the Palio almost a month later -- but at least it was only 10 or 15 minutes every night and we regarded it as "local color". We had wonderful meals in Siena, but our favorite was sitting at our window sill in the apartment! The owner also alerted us to a convenient laundromat just a stone's throw away -- right across the Campo.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

The photos are not misleading in any way! This apartment is as amazing as it appears to be. I cannot say enough kind words. We found ourselves wanting to stay in at night with a bottle of wine and an antipasti to enjoy the apartment and the view. A definite highlight of our trip. Thank you Anna.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
