We loved the cabin. Our grandkids had a wonderful time even though the weather was bad. The cabin was so cozy. We will indeed be renting it again in the spring

Our time there was truly unforgettable. The cottage is well kept, quaint and close to hiking and the lively Asheville area. We will come back to this place, and will recommend to friends and family, without a doubt.

This log cabin has lots of personality!
This log cabin has lots of personality!
We arrived while the weather was very cool, and windy with sleet/rain. Definitely more like late Fall weather rather than early Spring. As mentioned before, although accurate, the photos can't convey how much more the cabin has to offer. Lots of planning and time was spent making the cabin feel like home for its guests. The minute we walked inside my husband said "It's looks so comfortable here I don't care if we stay inside the next two days because of the weather!" The living room is cozy: the fireplace operates on a thermostat, has comfortable furniture, adequate lighting, afghans nearby to help ward off an occasional chill, and plenty of natural light from the front windows. The kitchen is a spacious u-shape with ample table or counter seating for meals. The cabin is well-maintained and clean. Although the bathroom is somewhat narrow, everything is easily accessible and a window above the vanity for natural light is always a plus with me. There were plenty of hand and wash cloths available. Our preference would have been for more than two bath towels. Since we didn't contact Wanda to request more towels, we were just fine. The loft area was warm and cozy. Although the master bedroom was cooler than upstairs because of the inclement weather, still had a good night's sleep. The bed is very comfortable, with quality linens and plenty of warm, plush quilts. Wi-fi was fast and reliable and had no problems making the connection. We happened to have our Roku player with us and took advantage of our Netflix account since we were housebound more than we planned on. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of dinner- and glassware, some basic seasonings, just about every utensil or cookware you might need, even a crock pot. For future guests, we didn't find any aluminum foil or plastic storage bags for our left-overs from the fridge to pack in our cooler when we checked out, although having these supplies was certainly not expected. We definitely regretted the weather wasn't in our favor to have the bedroom window open to listen to the creek, relax on the front porch, or see the neighborhood in spring bloom. Quiet location, easy access to parking with plenty of space to relax indoors and out. This was the perfect base location for touring the Blue Ridge Parkway and the town of Black Mountain (which we also plan to spend more time visiting next year). Thanks Wanda and Marie for a very memorable visit to your little piece of paradise in North Carolina.

Owner response: Shirley, we are so happy you enjoyed your stay at Chestnut Cabin. I wish the weather had been better for you too but at least you had a cozy place to 'hunker down' in until it passed. I'm sorry you were short on bath towels; we store extra towels in the vanity under the bathroom sink. We try to have the basic necessities stocked in the cabin but are obviously lacking in storage for leftovers. Thank you for bringing that to my attention-for future guests, we will provide Glad or Zip-Lock containers which they will be able to take with them. You certainly made an impression on me by sending the (unsolicited) money for the postage to send your Kindle charger back to you. Thank you for your kind words and for choosing Chestnut Cabin as your destination. We truly hope you will make your way back and visit with us again in the near future. All the Best, Wanda & Marie
The minute we arrived for our stay there was this warm inviting feel to it. Its even better than the online pictures! We had such a great time, the cabin is so nice and cozy and clean. Our grandkids loved it so much they have insisted that we get this cabin each time we come in to see them. They played down by the stream skipping rocks, there was plenty of room for them to run and play, have an egg toss, it was so nice to sit at the gazebo and listen to the laughter of our children and the soothing sounds of the water rushing by. They have these wonderful recliners inside the cabin that my husband found some much needed deep sleeping naps. The location is ideal, close to any outings that the Asheville area has to offer while taking you off from the sounds and noises of the city. We will definitely be back! I just can't say enough about how nice our stay was here and our many thanks to Ms Wanda and Marie for making us feel right at home.

Owner response: Dana, We are so happy you and your family enjoyed your stay at Chestnut Cabin. We are glad to hear your husband got some much needed rest in our Flexsteel recliners and that you found everything satisfactory. The creek is always a favorite place for the kids to play and with 2 acres to run and play on, the gazebo or screened porch is a perfect place to retreat! We are always pleased to have guests such as yourselves stay with us and welcome you back to our little cabin any time. Ms. Wanda & Marie

Owner response: Kari, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Chestnut Cabin and found it cozy. We try to make it as comfortable as possible and provide every amenity we would want while on vacation. With all the activities in the area, we're happy to know you had time to relax on the porch and take in the serenity of our neighborhood. We would love for you to come back and spend more time in the area, exploring our natural wonders. Until then, Wanda & Marie
Wonderful cabin next to the woods and stream. Awesome gazebo that was used a LOT - it had a nice fan and outlets for laptop to use the super fast wi-fi. It is on a 'no outlet' road, so traffic is at a minimum. The owner was super responsive and super nice. There is a washing machine but no dryer. A clothes line and pins are provided. There is no garage, but the parking is off street. We were on a motorcycle and the next door neighbor (the owners Mom) graciously offered us parking under her carport. The Biltmore is an easy 20 min drive and downtown Ashville is 15 min's. The cabin itself is cozy and very well equipped and maintained. We loved our stay there.

Great Family Getaway!
Great Family Getaway!
We stayed at the Chestnut Cabin for a week from Christmas to New Years. We had a great time and hope to be back soon. We especially enjoyed roasting marshmellows on the gazebo with the kids. There is a creek nearby and the sound is so relaxing as while you're sitting outside. The kitchen had everything we needed and there were plenty of sheets to accomodate everyone in our group. The owner was very flexible when we had to change the dates of our stay and was there right away when we had a small issue come up. This was definitely a memorable vacation!

I just recently took my Husband to Chestnut Cabin for his birthday. It was a wonderful experience. It was so close to the parkway which we hopped on and spent a day exploring Pisgah National Forest. It was incredible. It was all good and our best surprise was the cabin itself...it was so much more than we had expected. What a beautiful place...with everything we needed and much more... there is even a nice loft for the girls...we may consider taking them next time. Wanda and her Mom were near by and so very helpful. Thank you so much! Hope to see you soon. Hal and Sandi Charlotte, N.C.

Rustic Chestnut Log Cabin
Rustic Chestnut Log Cabin
From the moment I drove up to the Chestunt Log Cabin, I felt like I was at home. The welcoming front porch was calling for me to sit in the rocking chair. The Chestnut Log Cabin was very clean inside and the grounds were beautifully maintained. The comfortable couch in the living room in front of the rock fireplace was the perfect place to curl up with a good book. I enjoyed this vacation in the Chestnut Log Cabin. I met the owner, she was so kind and friendly she gave me information about near by attractions. I would highly recommend the Chestnut Log Cabin to my friends and family. It was the perfect vacation spot to relax and recharge my batteries. I am planning another vacation to the Chestnut Log Cabin in October when the mountains will be covered in fall colors.

Nice, home-like, quiet, clean & comfortable place to stay. Right at the bottom of the mountain from the Blue Ridge Parkway with access (when not closed) at the top. Enjoyable to kick back & watch TV after a long day of running around the area.
