We call our little house 'Sonora Sage' after the Sonora Desert which runs from the southern point of Mexico to it's northernmost point in the South Okanagan. Desert weather and vegetation makes the South Okanagan unique in Canada. Desert plants survive and thrive as the summers are hot and usually drier than anywhere else in Canada. Long summers mean that outdoor activities can be enjoyed to the max and all within minutes of our house. Penticton has miles and miles of vineyards, orchards and Kettle Valley biking/hiking trails with awesome views of the lakes and mountains. Apex Mountain Resort is famous for it's blue skies and powder snow. Skiing, snowshoeing or outdoor skating are all within 20 minutes of the city. Or, if you just need some solo time to read, meditate or create your next novel you will find our little house the quiet retreat you are looking for.

We had an excellent month long stay at Sonora Sage. It is beautifully decorated, meticulously clean, and has everything one needs to enjoy the comforts of home. The owner is a lovely lady to deal with – she even irons and hangs the extra bed linens! It is an ideal location within walking distance to everything. We especially enjoyed being close to the beach at Okanagan Lake to take our daily walks. We have family in Penticton and enjoyed visiting and skiing with them. We will be back for a month in 2013 and would highly recommend this lovely home!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We recently visited Sonora Sage Cottage for a girls weekend away & wine tour, upon arrival we instantly noticed that Sonora Sage was the most beautiful home on the street with amazing front & back gardens. We couldnt have asked for anything else from Bryn (the manager) or Sonora Sage...the beds were very comfortable, the home is clean, fully stocked kitchen with everything you need, large remodeled washroom, comfortable cozy living room, tasteful decor throughout & walking distance to everything you need! We will be back to Sonora Sage for sure! One fo the best rentals in Penticton, well worth it. PS - The pictures do not do Sonora Sage justice!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

We spent a week here while our son was at the Okanagan Hockey School. The house was more than big enough for the five of us and had everything we needed. One thing that struck us was how the house was furnished and decorated - it was like we were in someone's home and not in a typical rental unit filled with castoff, mismatched furniture, old beds and a poorly stocked kitchen. On the contrary, the house was beautifully furnished, the beds were extremely comfortable and the kitchen had all the pots, pans, dishes and glasses we needed. Unfortunately the weather didn't co-operate so we didn't spend as much time in the front garden/patio as we would have liked. It's a lovely spot to sit and drink your morning coffee and to relax and soak up some afternoon sun though. We were within walking distance of Main Street and the beach on Okanagan Lake. And Penticton itself is centrally located - an hour south to the more desert-y Osoyoos and an hour north to the beaches and shopping of Kelowna. And, we discovered ziplining in Summerland only half an hour away - tons of fun! All in all a great place to stay and we'll definitely be looking to come back again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

In the past couple of years, we have enjoyed four month-long stays at the charming "Sonora Sage" cottage. It is beautifully decorated and more than amply equipped with all the necessities and more! With her flair for decorating, the owner has created a very welcoming atmosphere with many unique little personal touches - truly a home away from home. The house is meticulously clean and it is great to have the laundry facilities. The yard is landscaped with gorgeous desert plants and is fully fenced. The patio is a lovely place to spend a sunny afternoon. The house is located in a quiet neighbourhood, only a short stroll to downtown, the lake, lots of eating places, shopping, etc.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+.

My family of four have stayed at Sonora Cottage for two summers now and we hope to return this year again. The house is charming - truly a home away from home. The owners have thought of everything and we had a wonderful and relaxing holiday. Every morning I would make a cup of coffee, relax on the patio and enjoy the serenity of the beautiful garden. A quite beach and plenty of fantastic restaurants are within a short walk. We had a wonderful ride on the Kettle Valley Railroad bike trail. I would recommend this beautiful home to anyone - Penticton is a fantastic holiday destination!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Why the Owner Chose Penticton:
Penticton is unique.. It is a small town with a lot to offer...clean air, a beautiful fresh water lake at each end of the city,
Summer...hot and deserty. (is that a word?) !
Spring:.. great for walking, biking and hiking, ...Fall brings a huge harvest from the many growers of fresh produce as well as apples, pears and grapes are ready to be picked. The fall wine festival is tops, and crisper weather brings a promise of snow in the mountains for those waiting for their first days of skiing and snowshoeing. Penticton is a friendly and safe community featuring outdoor adventure as well as some great shops, galleries and restaurants.
