The house is truly a nautical paradise from its decor to its natural surroundings. If you are a surfer, a fisherman, a beach comber, or if you just simply love the ocean, wild horses won't be able to drag you away from here. This 2002 property has both ocean and sound views with spectacular sunrises and sunsets. You'll have to have a 4WD vehicle to get here but it is well worth it! The house has an extensive movie collection as well as a wireless Internet connection. There are plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas and beach toys. The back deck backs up to a wild life refuge where the horses are frequent visitors and has an outdoor fire pit and benches. The summer skies are stocked with brilliant stars and moon phases .You'll be 3 miles off the pavement but there is a grocery store (and seafood market) about 3 miles once you're on the pavement. The kitchen is well equipped (including a free standing ice maker) with all you'll need to stay put during your relaxing week or two off.
Making it easier to get there
This Beach house is located on the 4 wheel drive area of Swan beach in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It is 3 miles on the beach past Corolla and about 6 miles before you get to Corova. It is at the 16.5 mile marker and at the intersection of Ocean Pearl rd and Canary lane. The Google map does not show the location accurately...it has the location too far back from the ocean. It is actually about 300 yds from the ocean but down there, everyone just parks their trucks, jeeps , or SUVs right on the ocean front which makes it easy for getting all of your 'toys' down to the beach! It is truly awesome for families taking chairs, boogie boards, rafts, surfboards, coolers, etc. to the beach each day.

The house is charming with lots of attention to detail! Overall, the property is clean and very well maintianed. Because the house is off the beaten path, it seems as if the pace of our daily routine was slower, which, for me, was the perfect way to re-charge and reconnect with my family and friends. I am absolutely spoiled by this house. As I travel north up the beach and away from the bustling shopping nooks of Corolla, Duck, and Nags Head, the waves, the sun and the dunes of Swan Beach welcome me. Every time, regardless of the weather, I cannot resist rolling down the window and inhaling the intoxicating ocean air. It is clean, sweet, and salty. I smile as I watch the birds racing away as the waves break on the sand and race back down as the water recedes. I am giddy to get to the house. It sits perfectly between the sound and the ocean – the sounds lulling me to sleep and waking me in the morning. The house is open and airy with decks to view the sunrise, the sunset, and the most unobstructed and amazing view of the stars. I could sit there and read all day. After a day of walking to the beach, playing in the ocean, and exploring the wildlife, cooking out with the family and sitting around the fire pit concludes the perfect day. This house caters to every expectation and need a renter can hope for and want. I come back every year and wish I could do so more often.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This house was incredible...had every amenity that you could need and then lots extra!! The frequency of the horses visiting the house was like clockwork everyday....same time in the morning and same time every evening. And wow are they beautiful!!!!! Renting this house was the best thing we have done in years!!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.
