We spent Christmas week 2012 in this apartment. We arrived late (cancelled flight), but Nathalie met us with a smile, and immediately welcomed us to Paris and to the apartment. It was me, my husband, and our two teenage children (13 and 15). The listing was very accurate - though didn't give us a good sense of how spacious the apartment is (very), and didn't mention the balcony over the street, which gave us a great view of what was going on downstairs over the holiday, but also let us check the weather before heading out each day. The neighborhood is just perfect - great bakery, seafood store, chocolate store, TWO foie gras stores, cafes, the Metro stop, bars, are within 30 seconds of the front door. Great shopping and restaurants throughout the Marais. It's a very safe, vibrant neighborhood. Even on Christmas Day, there were businesses open and plenty to do. The apartment is a walk-up -- 4 flights -- DO NOT bring anyone who has trouble moving about. But it was fine for us - actually helped us work off the cheese and deserts we ate every night. In addition to the loft-style bedroom for my husband and I (queen-size bed with a skylight that looks up at the church next door and the moon!) each kid had their own sleeping area - and there was another loft area that we didn't even use. The apartment could easily accommodate another 2-3 people. It would be perfect for a family with teens + friends, or two couples or other configuration with multiple rooms needed. The common areas are very comfortable - we could all come in after a long day of sightseeing, take off our shoes, be warm and comfortable in the living room. The well-equipped kitchen allowed us to keep snacks and drinks ready, and we had breakfast in on most mornings (the kids would run downstairs and get fresh baguettes). And Nathalie provided a projection-style movie viewer so we could watch movies as a family when we were just too tired to continue walking around - great to watch Les Miserables or The DaVinci Code before pursuing our adventures in Paris. Nathalie was a very considerate hostess - she brought pain chocolat or bread by when she came to pick up our payment or return our deposit. She provided us with lots of information on places to eat, to shop, and has lived in Paris for a long time and knows it well. This is her home, and it reflects her artistic character - it's unique, comfortable, and I wish I were still there!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Having stayed in hotels in Paris many times it was refreshing to have some space! The apartment has a bohemian homely atmosphere and is very well positioned - easy access to the sights but not so close that it is all tourists. Great fresh food shops very close (also a couple of wine caves) We were a little concerned about the church bells next door but it was not a problem as they stop at 10pm. Nathalie is a very gracious hostess and left us with wine and bread and an open invitation to use whatever was in the fridge and gave free reighn to her books and music collection. She is a bubbly wealth of information and left us armed with so much local information we should have stayed so much longer!! The bonus was the balcony overlooking the street and the little square across the street - St Catherines where the is an assortment of bistros etc back from the street. Strolling distance to Bastille - great weekend market when we were there. This apartment was perfect to get the taste of parisienne life - and we left much fitter because of the stairs!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

The owner was very helpful, we thought the location was excellent. Close to the museums, lots of restaurants and great walks. The pictures on the website are accurate. Very spacious. The steep stairs inside the apartment are not friendly for little ones. We would love to go back, our teenagers loved the place too!Recommended for: Families with teenagers.

Nathalie I wanted to write and thank you for being such a great host on our recent stay in Paris. We all had a fantastic time and really enjoyed spending time in your apartment and in the local area. Paris is such a lovely city and with your insider knowledge to assist us we had a very special experience and everyone's been admiring the boots I bought! I will be returning to celebrate a friends birthday in 2012 so who knows we might need your assistance again or maybe we could catch up over a drink. Kind regards RondaheDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1
