Our family had a wonderful 10-day stay at Windstar. Hospitable owners make it a pleasure. Everything we needed to enjoy ourselves as we explored Tucson, convenient location, spotlessly clean. Great birdwatching, lots of light, room to spread out. House is better than photos, everything in working order, great kitchen. Fresh fruit, water bottles in fridge, candy basket, lots of local info to get you started, wifi works great. We'll be back!

Owner response: Hello Bea, Thank you for the kind review. We appreciate your comments regarding "spotlessly clean" and "lots of room to move." And you are right, the photos do not do it justice. We're glad you enjoyed the bird watching. Windstar's convenient location does provide easy access to many of Tucson's attractions. We hope to see you on your next visit. Thanks again, Lucy.

We were delighted with our stay at Tucson Windstar. The description of the home is accurate and the photos do not really do justice to the house and the property. The house is very clean and spacious, especially the master bedroom. Everything we needed for our stay was provided. The neighborhood is extremely quiet. The owner could not be more helpful or welcoming and is available to answer questions over the phone. The house is 15 - 20 minutes from downtown and the U of A and is just a few minutes from several trailheads in the Tucson mountains. All in all, we highly recommend this rental home.

Owner response: Hello Richard & Diane, Thank you for your kind review. Your statement "photos do not really do justice to the house," reveals the true ambiance of Tucson Windstar. We are glad you found it to be "very clean and spacious," and "extremely quiet." The location, close to U of A and the downtown area is convenient. We are happy you took advantage of hiking on the several trail heads in the Tucson Mtns, located just minutes away. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit to Tucson. Thanks again for the "highly recommend" rating. Best Regards, Lucy

The pictures don't do it justice. The home was very clean and comfortable. Upon our arrival we were received with a nice bowl of fresh fruit and candy. The bird watching was great. Owner of property - Lucy was very kind, sweet and professional to deal with. We couldn't have stayed and at a better place in Tucson, location was great and not far from 1-10 Interstate. Great home to have a family gathering very spacious and open floor plan. I would recommend it to all. Deborah - Las Vegas, Nevada.

Owner response: Hello Deborah, Thank you for staying at Windstar. You are right, "the pictures don't do it justice." Our you tube video helps paint a better picture. We do pride ourselves in maintaining a very clean and comfortable home away from home. Glad you enjoyed the bird watching and found the easy location to I-10 convenient. We look forward to your next visit. Thanks again.

Five college friends decided to celebrate their 45th reunion year far from our East Coast alma mater but close to the home one of us shares with her 96-year-old incredibly vibrant mother. We found Windstar, only 10 minutes from reunion central. The home is spacious, comfortable and well appointed--including an enormous basket piled with fresh fruit. Because our common interest in college was going out of doors (we were members of the "outing club"), we didn't spend much time in Windstar but took off on hikes in the nearby hills. Thanks to a relatively moist winter, the desert flowers were blooming everywhere and delighted us at every turn. We'd go back.

Owner response: Hello Jan, Thank you for choosing Tucson Windstar for your college reunion housing. We're glad you found it "spacious, comfortable and well appointed." It's nice you were able to take advantage of the great weather to be outdoors. Also to take advantage of the nearby hiking trails of the Tucson Mtns. and catch the early desert bloom. I also want to thank you for the suggestion to add the broadband/wifi/internet info into our Tucson Windstar Information Binder. Such a good idea and we have done so! We hope you will consider us for any future trips/reunions you might plan for Tucson. Thanks again!

This was our third stay at Windstar. We love this vacation rental! The best thing about the house is the great location. The neighborhood is very quiet nestled at the base of a breathtaking mountain covered with cactus. You feel you are in the country, but it is only a 15 minuet drive into the city. Located 5 minuets from the house is our favorite steakhouse DaisyMae's. Family friendly with a real old west flair they have the best ribs I ever had! Food shopping and stores are also a quick 10 minuet drive. The house is perfect for large families or visitors. It is well stocked with all your needs from kitchen supplies to extra blankets. The back yard is private and great for barbecues. The view is stunning, you look to the mountains and complete wild life. We have seen in the yard, a roadrunner, cardinals, yellow finches, hummingbirds, and many other native birds. The owner has many bird books to reference in the house. And don't miss the incredible sunsets. The owner is very friendly and helpful to and questions or needs you might have. This truly is a special relaxing and peaceful rental. We look forward to our next visit.

We spent two weeks in this beautiful Tucson home. The owners are very responsive and available by phone anytime. The house is clean for anyone with allergies. The house is set up nicely for two groups or families, with the master bedroom and bathroom on one side of the house, with walk in closet. Then there are two bedrooms on the other side of the house and a separate full bathroom. Spacious living area is shared in the middle, with two sofas - one that pulls out for sleeping. There are two kitchen tables for plenty of options for dining, including outside eating. The beds are very comfortable and the neighborhood is quiet for sleeping. The yard is nicely landscaped, private with plenty of chairs for grilling and relaxing. Plenty of maps and information on the area are provided by the owners. The house is in a nice friendly neighborhood, located 2 miles from the bike trail (Santa Cruz River)and able to bike to the trail. There is plenty of biking, walking, running and hiking right from the house. Groceries, shopping and great restaurants within a few miles. Plenty of things to do: Kitt Peak Observatory (1 hr away), Pima Air and Space (30 minutes), Madera Canyon (birding and hiking 1 hr), Saguaro National Park West and Desert Sonoran Museum (15 minutes). Tucson is a large city with a lot to do. The home is 5 minutes from highway 10, but you don't hear the traffic, making it very convenient to get on and off the highway to travel north or south to destinations. Convenient for birders, especially in May at the height of the birding season. Plus the rental rates drop to their lowest. We have rented houses all over the United States and this house is the best rental we have had. The house and the owners exceeded our expectations! We plan to return again some year to bird in May and see the other sites on our list that we did not have time for. So much to do in Tucson!

Owner response: Hello Tammy and David. Thank you for choosing Windstar for your 2 week vacation. We appreciate your thoughtful review. We believe that one of the nicest comments we can receive is in your title "exceeded expectations." And as seasoned travelers throughout the U.S., we are honored that you would write "this house is the best rental we have had." Your description of Windstar, its location and proximity to local attractions is greatly appreciated. And you are absolutely correct about the rental rates (seasonal) that drop from May to August. Regarding the bird watching, you will see in addition to our local birds a variety of migratory birds depending on the time of year. We are happy that your experience at Windstar was such that you would return again.

The cleanliness, careful touch and warm welcome were present everywhere, from the front yard to the back and everything in between (every single room in the house). Our big group of eight was able to relax in this house, cook our own dinners (the kitchen was well equipped and the grill outside was a nice bonus) and enjoy the nature sight right out the window. It was a unique experience to be able to get so close to nature in the back yard with all those native birds that come to visit. The owner was very welcoming, it really felt like being at home!

Owner response: Thank you for choosing Tucson Windstar for your family's vacation. We do pride ourselves in providing a very clean and comfortable home away from home. The house layout is helpful in accommodating a sizable group. We enjoyed reading your children's comments in our guest book. We think of Windstar as "kid friendly" by providing some games, books and videos. Glad all of you enjoyed the backyard with the variety of birds and the use of the BBQ grill. We hope to see you on your next visit to Tucson. Thanks again.

Our family of 5 spent Thanksgiving here, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location has easy access to the University of Arizona where our son is enrolled. The neighborhood is spotless and quiet. The house is spacious and comfortable. The gardens, both front and back are delightful. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans and utensils. There is easy access to hiking, walking, running and biking. The owner, Lucy, provides great customer service. Our family will most definitely stay here again!

Windstar is an ideal home for use while visiting Tucson. The VRBO description is accurate. We made use of the washer and dryer, iron and ironing board. Lucy and her sister take excetionally good care of the property. The front and back garden are full of well maintained desert plants. House is well equipped and comfortable. It is within easy driving distance of grocery stores and downtown. Tucson is not a large city so all attractions are within reasonable driving distances as well. House is located on a quiet residential cul de sac and the back yard looks out on one of the hills in the area which is not developed and gives the feeling of being distant from the city. Birds abound and make good use of the feeder and bath. A road runner paid a visit during our stay. Lucy was very helpful on arrival and also promptly refunded the deposit on departure. There is a good binder full of where to eat and order for delivery. We visited Teresa's Mosaic Cafe for breakfast one day and lunch another and is certainly recommended. El Charro and Daisey Mae's also worth a visit for Mexican and steak respectively. We had our first Mexican pizza, a "crisp", at El Minuto Cafe 354 S. Main Tucson, along with other excellent menu selections. Pima Air & Space Museum and ajoining AMARG facility, Titan Missile site, Sonora Desert Museum, San Xavier Mission, St. Phillips Plaza Farmer's Market on Sunday all worth a visit in our opinion. Close by at the Marriott Starr Pass Resort is the sunset tequila toast at the outdoor bar - be there before 5 to get a good table, buy a drink and get your tequila shot included. The toast and complimentary shot has been a tradition of the resort for several years. The only minor improvement at Windstar would be a simpler TV remote and/or very clear instructions for those of us that are technically challenged.

    Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing.

Owner response: Hello Rod, Thank you for staying at Tucson Windstar. We are glad to know that you were happy with the home and enjoyed the local birds, including the roadrunner, that came into the backyard for a drink. Windstar's location was convenient for your activities and you were able to visit many of Tucson's attractions. It's nice you were able to eat at some the nearby restaurants and great suggestions about the Starr Pass tequila sunset toast only a few minutes from Windstar. Glad you took advantage of the information binder we provide, not only about Tucson Windstar but also for the nearby restaurants, grocery stores, etc. Thank you for bringing to our attention, the need to provide simpler and more clear instructions about the TV remote. We will be adding these instructions to the information binder. Again, Thank You for choosing Windstar and we hope you will consider us again for your next visit to Tucson. Best Regards, Lucy

Tucson Windstar is the perfect place to stay in Tucson. It is well situated, only minutes from the I-10 yet far enough away not to have to endure any noise or traffic. When out on the road turn right and within minutes you are either in town or on the I-10, if you had turned left you would almost immediately have been cruising along amongst the Giant cacti heading for the mountain pass that leads you to The Sonora Desert Museum or Old Tucson Studios. The house itself is immaculate, well maintained and incredibly spacious. The main living/dining area is huge yet once settled into the ample sofas has a cosy home from home feel. The dining table comfortably seats six and affords a wonderful view of the birds feeding on the garden wall at breakfast. The view continues on past the cacti and leading the eye up to a mini mountain merely 500yds from the rear porch. There is another less formal table in the airy kitchen area but I preferred to watch the birds. The garden itself is secure and well groomed and had I found the time I would have certainly fired up the gas BBQ and watched the sunset over dinner. The bedrooms are very roomy with the master bedroom having a giant ensuite bathroom and walk in wardrobe. Everywhere the house was furnished immaculately with more storage and hanging space than even my wife and three daughters could ever hope to fill. The double garage was accessed through the kitchen which I found very convenient as I didn't use the front door, just drove up through the automatic exterior door then let myself in via the utility room straight into the kitchen. I couldn't recommend Tucson Windstar enough and am certainly hoping to stay there on my next visit to Tucson.

Owner response: We thank you for staying at Tucson Windstar. We are glad you and your family enjoyed the convenience, cleanliness and comfortable surroundings. The convenient location from garage to kitchen does indeed lend itself to unloading groceries or loading up for a picnic to the nearby city attractions and activiites. The bird watching from kitchen, dining area and living room are always a hit! We are glad the children enjoyed all the various birds. You are right when you say the website pics do not do it justice. It's hard to capture the wonderful "home away from home" feel without actually staying at Tucson Windstar. We hope to see you on your next visit. Thanks again.

Four friends and I visited Tucson from California in January for several days to see an old friend for her 60th birthday and stayed at Windstar. The residence was large enough to accommodate all five of us adults (three singles and one couple), plus our friend and her extended family. We have some good cooks and bakers in the group who wanted to create a special meal for the occasion and we had enough counter space and table space so half a dozen people could be in the kitchen working at once and never get in each other’s way. The layout is such that the bedrooms are all separated by other rooms, so there was plenty of privacy too. It’s in a quiet residential neighborhood so we found it very conducive to unwind and relax, not being in a frenetic shopping or tourist environment. We enjoyed watching the birds come to feed in the yard, spotting coyote and cottontails, etc. All quite different than our city life! We sometimes had fifteen people in there and hanging out was easy because of the spacious common area. After a day of tennis/hiking/sightseeing, we could head back and just chill out, either individually or as a group. The hosts are a pair of very friendly, local-born sisters who live close by and are available to answer questions. They have thought through all the details – down to irons and bike trail maps and cloth napkins and recommendations for restaurants. One of them has a great eye for decorating touches, so the décor had a fun, regional flavor – think chile pepper wallpaper and matching tablecloths! Overall, we had a great stay. Easy, comfortable, relaxing. We felt well taken care of. From Canyon S.

We were fortunate to have a week's stay at Windstar in January 2011, and could not ask for a more pleasant, clean, comfortable home. The home has all the amenities including washer, dryer, small library, cook books, well-equipped kitchen and outdoor bar-b-que. The owner is a wealth of information and anxious to assist in any way. In addition to the views, this home has a lovely patio and backyard with many varieties of birds and looks onto a beautiful hillside of saguaro cactus. Both the front and back of the property are beautifully landscaped with native cacti and plants. Its location is close to the western Saguaro Park as well as the Desert Museum and offers easy access to town, the University area and surrounding sites.

This coming March will be the fourth full month we have spent at Windstar; obviously, we are completely happy with it! Because of our amateur astronomy interest, we are eager to be away from the city lights and Windstar is perfect in this regard with Tumamoc between us & downtown lights, yet everything so close by. We have out of state family & friends coming & going & are able to accommodate & feed all easily with ample table space & cookware. The community college nearby has a great walking track, but we do lots of hiking, too. Love the hummingbirds and the roadrunner who comes quite close to show off his hunting skill. We can't say enough for our hostess, either!

Owner response: Thank you, we definitely appreciate our "repeat guests." We feel that having guests return year after year, means that they are happy and comfortable and willing to repeat their experience at Tucson Windstar. That is the best feedback we can have. Our location does lend itself to the dark skies that provide excellent night sky viewing. Not to mention, during the day, the many birds that frequent the backyard. Doves, quail, gila woodpeckers, hummingbirds, curve-billed thrashers, mockingbirds, roadrunners and a variety of other birds can be seen. Windstar can accommodate a group or family and can sleep 6-8. The open floor plan adds to the sense of spaciousness with ample seating in kitchen, dining area and living room. We are glad that you feel good enough to call Windstar "our home away from home."
