Mokuleia house description
Our county home was build in 1937 and serves as our family gathering place with its beachfront location and spacious fenced yard for family games. Our home sits under a magnificent monkey pod tree surrounded by 86 coconut trees on a 1.25 acre lot on a quiet north shore lane 7 minutes from Haleiwa. There is 200 linear feet of beach frontage with several surf spots directly off shore, but the oceanfront is always calm enough for children's play, swimming and snorkling. The water is generally clear and turtles are spotted nearly every day. Miles of beach provide for long walks.
This grand "old style" home is updated, redecorated and painted in 2010. High ceilings, white board and baton and lauhala mats add to the historic charm. It is spacious and comfortable with 3 bedrooms and 3 baths in the main home. Each bedroom has a king bed and 2 rooms have additional beds for children in residence. One bath features an outdoor, open air shower and another a traditional clawfoot bathtub. The spacious, country kitchen opens to adjacent rooms and has ocean or lawn views in every direction and bar stools for chatting with the chef. The great room has a TV, antique rattan chairs and day bed for napping or reading, all with ocean views.
The separate cottage is large and has two queen size beds and a double daybed. There is a bar refrigerator and studio sink. The full bath has an additional open air outdoor shower...very island style! The laundy is located in this building.
There are several places to gather and dine: a table for 8 is under a covered trellis outside the kitchen door and a nearby picnic table sits 12. These are perfect places to watch the children play on the elaborate playhouse with swings and slide. But the favorite is the gazebo adjacent to the beach for ocean front dining and prime surfing/whale watching and spectacular sunsets!
This beachfront home will only be available several times a year, but is a perfect place for generations to gather for a reunion, enjoy each other and the beauty of "old" Hawaii. Quiet, spacious and private..this unique, historic home will provide memories for a lifetime.
