This simple and cozy villa melts into the scenery of the Unesco protected Roman bridge “Pont du Gard” and its surroundings of “garrigue” landscape - typical Southern French vegetation made of bushes, small oaks, and odorant plants such as thyme and lavenders.
In the property, you can enjoy a peaceful time on the large terrace, which offers a unique view on the Pont du Gard. If you feel like cooling down, you can just walk down a picturesque path to plunge in the pool in the middle of the garrigue. The pool is shared with four other owners but I can reassured you that it is very quiet and that there are not many swimmers. The picture is very representative of the reality. The pool has a size of about 15x4 meters.
The property is located in the nearby medieval village of Castillon-du-Gard to where you can walk and buy your daily fresh baguette for your breakfast or enjoy an exclusive meal at the gastronomique restaurant of the four-star Hotel "Le Vieux Castillon". You also have convenience stores in the village.
You can explore further by swimming or kayaking under the Pont du Gard, shopping on the famous artisanal Uzès' Saturday and Wednesday market (especially look for the delicious goat cheeses), visiting the Roman monuments in Nîmes and Orange, visiting the Pope Palace in Avignon and the famous Pont d'Avignon. Also, during the summer, the area offers many cultural festivals such as the theater festival in Avignon, the opera festival in Orange, and the classical music festival in Uzès.
The villa is also very pleasant in the off season time. The pool is closed but does not disturb as it is at the bottom of the property and cannot be seen from the terrace... the Pont du Gard is, of course, always there! In addtion, the house is well heated and has a functionning fire place which adds to the charm.

We spent two weeks this summer in this great house. The owner is very friendly and the arrangements were made very easily. The proprety is situated in the outskirts of a Middle Age village, Castillon du Gard, at the heart of the Cotes du Rhône region. The house is very well furnished, warm and romantic. great vacations.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: I spent my childhood in Uzès, married a Swiss man and now I live in Switzerland. This property allows me to keep my roots and to have a cosy place to stay when I am visiting my family. This picture was taken on the Gardon river shore close to the city of Anduze nearby the giant bambou forest. Sorry for the glasses, it was too sunny!
