    I wanted to thank you personally for opening up your home to us. It was the perfect place for a weekend that I'll never forget. Our whole family felt comfortable and accommodated, and we did not want for anything. My sister even used one of the yoga mats in the play room because she forgot to bring hers :) It's evident that you treat your home with care, and that care is transferred to your guests.     I recently had a small reception at the Hopwood Villa and had the pleasure of staying in the home for three days with several family members. When looking for a place to have my reception I became frustrated with my options. The idea of holding my reception at a country club or a restaurant was not the vision I had in my mind. After adding up the cost of renting a venue, renting hotel rooms and the expense of feeding my guests buffet food I decided to go in a different direction. I began looking at vacation rentals as an alternative option and I am so happy I did. When I walked through the front door of the villa my breath was taken away and I knew that this was exactly what I wanted. You will feel the love that the owners have put into this amazing home. The rustic romantic feel will make you want to kick your shoes off, grab a glass of wine and relax in one of the outdoor living spaces while taking in the breathtaking views. This home is kid friendly so no need to worry about the little ones. The home has expansive panoramic lake views that will amaze your senses. If you are looking to get away from it all then you have come to the right place. Why waste your time with stuffy hotels when you can have your own personal oasis?

    We recently returned from 9 days at this stunning property. There were 16 of us ranging in age from 76 to 18 months and we all had a fantastic time. This was our first time staying at the Hopwood's but we all hope it won't be our last. The house was amazing! There was plenty of room for all of us as well as spaces where we could all gather. We had a couple of cooler days so we took advantage of the fireplaces and firewood that Katy had laid out. The guys hung out in the round room watching sports while the teenagers did movie marathons in the media room and others enjoyed the comfortable couches reading books and taking in the stunning views. The house has everything you could ask for including an extremely well stocked kitchen making cooking meals a joy. We took advantage of the orchard and the electric juicer as and had fresh squeezed orange juice in the morning and fresh made lemonade in the afternoon. The family also took advantage of the outdoor living areas as well in particular the wonderful pool and hot tub. The pool has a lap lane in addition to several places to sit and chat while relaxing in the water and enjoying the wonderful views. Looking at those views it might be hard to believe that you are 10 minutes from several grocery stores, shopping centers (which the teen girls loved) and 30 minutes from the San Diego airport. Some members of our group took advantage of the location to visit the San Diego Safari Park just down the road and Legoland but most of us never left the house except to take a hike on the nearby trails. The Hopwoods were gracious hosts - just a phone call away when we had a question and setting us up with amenities in each bathroom in case we forgot our own. We absolutely love this property and cannot wait to go back!

    Our stay at Harbour Point was absolute bliss. We were given the greatest care and promptest help in all the arrangements beforehand. Once we arrived, we were shown where to park, all the fantastic facilities and the amazing views. It was perfect. Our whole weekend was so enjoyable as everyone staying was impressed, relaxed and thrilled by the location, comfort and cleanliness of this apartment. We all made a vow that this was the ONLY way to spend the night in Cardiff and promised to book again - soon! We genuinely cannot praise the whole experience enough. No hesitation. We'll be back.

    We spent a week renting Katy's home for a family vacation that consisted of a 10 adults and 2 kids. It was the best family vacation we ever had. The home was absolutely fabulous. Katy was always a phone call away if we needed anything. There was plenty to do and there was never a reason to leave the house. There was so much space, we never felt cramped. No one got on each other’s nerves and everyone spent the week smiling! This was truly a perfect vacation and I highly recommend this home for your vacation! We can’t wait to go back!

    This place is truly amazing. As others have stated, the pictures do NOT do the house or views justice. I just hosted my girlfriend’s 30th birthday and surprise proposal here. I told Katy (owner) my intentions a few weeks beforehand. She graciously invited me out to the property to have a look around and also helped me with the logistics for the proposal. And now I’m extremely thankful to say, it all went perfectly! All of our guests were tremendously impressed with the proposal spot, which was on the back deck overlooking the lake. Now about the house/views…The thing that sets this property apart from all others is the view. Again, the pictures don’t cut it. There are EXPANSIVE lake and mountain views from all over the property, the best coming from the newly built gazebo and massive outdoor sitting area on the back side of the house. Everyone gathered there to watch incredible sunsets each night. The pool was another source of great satisfaction, which is much bigger than the pictures make it look. There’s a rock cave with a five foot waterfall that creates an incredibly relaxing atmosphere all around the pool area. And yes there is a deep end that is perfect for jumping off the waterfall, which any kid, or in our case “kids at heart” will have a blast with! The various outdoor sitting areas were fabulous as well. Most have incredible lake and mountain views, while the others overlook the pool area, which isn’t a shabby view itself. A really great feature for us was the ipod docking station hooked up to a central stereo system that would play your music throughout the entire grounds. Walking from inside to out or room to room, you never lose your song! The inside of the house is also stunning, and HUGE! The kitchen is massive and could hold 6 chefs prepping food at once. The game room is right off the pool and made for some intense ping pong matchups. The media room was a perfect setup. The guys spent all day Saturday in and out of there watching college football games. The room has a big screen tv, lazy boys, and a massive day bed in the back. Most the bedrooms were the size of a small apartment and have their own bathrooms. In summary, the place (both inside and out) is wonderful and HUGE. We had a 25 person party, and you could still find a place to sit and have complete privacy. The house is so open that all of the areas just flow into one another. It was an amazing find and the PERFECT place for our duel celebrations!

    This rental was the perfect choice for our UK guests to stay for a week leading up to our Wedding which we also hosted at the house. For the wedding had 50 guests, including Katy, the owner, as we were so impressed with how helpful she had been in the lead up to us renting the house and allowing us to have the wedding there. Everyone that stayed at the house had an amazing experience and are now suffering with depression as they are missing the magical place. The boys loved the pool and cinema room and the girls loved the hot tub and  beautiful wooden gazebo which we would relax in with a bottle of wine to enjoy the sunsets. Everything we needed to host parties and relax were available from ample glass wear and plates to pool towels. One evening we hosteda big Mexican meal and we played music throughout the house and grilled up a feast and there was enough space in the kitchen for all the eager chefs competing to make the best salsa!  After dinner the male guest entertained the party performing Olympic style  jumps from the waterfall in the pool.  I loved waking up early and watching the morning mist rise from the magical mountains from the amazing master bedroom. We also listened to coyotes howling around the lake one night it truly is magical place. Our wedding was made very special by Katy and Clive who allowed us to visit the property several before renting it so we could make the necessary arrangements. They know the local area very well making suggestions for all the vendors we used. Katy even went the extra mile running out to get extra ice and serving wine to us whilst we had our sit down dinner at the wedding. All the guests left the house requesting we return again next year.

    We had a cousins reunion at this beautiful house. From the moment you enter the flowered courtyard and walk through the house, you know this is something special. And then you see the views from the back of the house as you sit high on a ridge, looking at mountains, a lake below, hillsides which look like Italy and you feel transported to another place and time. The house is very spacious with nooks and private areas everywhere. This home comes FULLY equipped. The pool which is a step from the rear sliding door off of the game area, is gorgeous with surrounding flowers. Everyone had a great time and did not want to leave. The only negative issue I had was with one of the carpet areas but that is being replaced with a wooden floor. Overall a geat experience for all of our family.and we would highly recommend.

    We stayed here with a group of families for a long weekend. The house was absolutely lovely! We felt like we were in a resort. There were plenty of rooms for our families and plenty of "extra" places to sleep as well. The pool and jacuzzi were wonderful and the villa also has many outdoor seating areas for people to socialize and to enjoy the amazing views that exist all around the villa. The kitchen was large and open so that many people could help cook or just be a part of the action. We all want to come back next year! I promise you, you will be thrilled to stay here!

    During our recent trip to the San Diego area, my husband and I were able to rent this villa. He found it after doing a fair bit of search online and shared its description and pictures with me. The photos online didn't do it justice! It was charming despite being massive, and the views were breathtaking. The only negative part of our stay was the unseasonably cooler weather- which was not the fault of the venue. We were unable to take advantage of the expansive outdoor space or the pool. The home was clean and very well-stocked and maintained. It was also relatively close to anything we needed (groceries, restaurants, trails) While there, we easily took a trip to the ocean as well as into LA., and perused the Rancho Santa Fe area where we hope one day to buy a home of our own. We highly recommend this home, and wish future renters as much comfort and serenity as we had.

    I would describe this Vista La Cresta home as the most friendly, happy, comfortable, refreshing, entertaining, little personal resort I have ever had the opportunity to stay at! The home was clearly desigined with entertaining in mind and love. The tuscanny style is welcoming and makes u feel instantly at home. The concrete floor is surprisingly attractive/tile like and gives the home an openness so you don't notice as you move from inside to outside. It has the most fabulous view from virtually all rooms of the house. The rooms are comfortablly sized, with high ceilings, open and flow well. The pictures and on-line description do not do the home justice, it is better in person! Of course it was clean and well maintained. The amenities keep everyone all of ages busy (or not!), moving from the game room, to the gazebo, to the wonderful deep pool, long enough to do laps, with a waterfall cave, to the small library room, to the movie theatre room, to sitting in front of one of the several fireplaces. My husband and I enjoyed the romantic quiet time we had the house to ourselves, but also enjoyed the time we invitied friends for a 50th birthday celebration. My young daughter was thrilled with the pool and the great movie selection. During the day, the pool heated up nicely and was warm enough for even my older mother-in-law. Would be an incredible place for a small - medium size wedding reception, or even ceremony. The Hopwoods were incredible welcoming hosts. They were helpful, communicative, and informative throughout the whole transaction. Reasonable drive to nearbby stores. Tip: bring cooler if you have many beverages, cause it was easy to fill-up the refrigerator space. Best experience ever. I would recommend to everyone I know. Memories of a lifetime. Fabulous. The only bad part is having to leave...

    Katy's home served as the perfect location for a big reunion of friends, complete with young babies, toddlers and teens. We were a big group and we were to share a home for a week. Other friends called us crazy and said we'd be at each other's throats within a few days. But the house had do much charm, space for everyone to have some alone time if needed, and entertainment options to satisfy everyone. I am sure the house made our reunion all the mire special. The warmth of Katy's family was evident everywhere and we felt like guests rather than just renters. Thanks again to Katy and her beautiful family and home for an unforgettable week. Couldn't have been more satisfied.

    If you looked at the photos, you know this is a nice property but it is even BETTER than the photos. Starting with the view and all the room and comfortable places for people to sit together or quiet places to escape to when you need a break and then there is the pool and gourmet kitchen....simply amazing! I'm not sure we could ever top this for a nicer place to stay - anywhere! It is spacious yet so comfortable and so beautifully decorated you will hate to leave! We are already thinking we might have to come back next year! Thank you for sharing your glorious home with us!

    The house is absolutely beautiful and the pictures as amazing as they are cannot do justice to this property. We loved the indoor/outdoor living throughout the home, the cool, refreshing pool and the vibrant colors throughout the yard in this well designed home. It is a perfect Old World Tuscan home. The owners were so very helpful throughout the process -- from places to eat, suggestions to visit sites and quick responses to our questions. Some of our family visited LegoLand and a local beach, Moonlight Beach and it was easy to get there from the house. Our family had a great chance to relax and enjoy each other's time in such comfortable surroundings. Katy and Clive, thank you so much for sharing your exceptionally beautiful home! Everyone in our family enjoyed the pool, outdoor spaces, theater room, fabulous kitchen, (what can I say about the butler's pantry -- FANTASTIC) and the spaciousness of the home. If we visit again with our family, we hope your home is available.

    We stayed at this Rancho Santa Fe property and had one of the best weekends we will ever remember!! The owner was extremely warm and kind....she showed us how to operate every appliance, control and setting on the entire property. The pictures do not do the property justice....the views are breath taking. The layout of the living room is very open and spacious. We had 10 adults there all weekend and never once felt crowded or cramped. We are looking forward to our next stay and really appreciate the owners' special touches.

    We recently stayed at the gorgeous Hopwood Villa on the Lake. We had a wonderful family reunion, and it was great to have everyone stay together at the home since it is very spacious and accomodates so many comfortably. Although we spent much of the time relaxing at the Villa, we did get out and enjoy some of the local sites. The home location is central to many attractions in San Diego. We made a day trip to the Del Mar beach, as well as had a night out at the Gaslamp district in downtown San Deigo. However, our best memories are the fun times we had sipping wine on the patio and watching the sun set over the Lake. This home is great! Thanks for having us as guests, we'll be back!

    We were very pleased with our 3 night stay at this beautiful home. The owners are so accomodating and the house is well done. The views are to die for and sitting out on the patio having our evening glass of wine was the highlight for us. There are views of the lake from practically every room of the house. The pool and jacuzzi are private and well done. We couldn;t decide where to hang out- so many choices. Thank you for a memorable stay.
