Milkyberry Bay Cottage is a charming Bahamian style cottage, set in an amazingly tranquil and secluded location on the tiny island of Great Guana Cay. It stands in it's own grounds of about half an acre of natural vegetation, 40 feet from the beautiful, turquoise Sea of Abaco, with 140 feet of private sea frontage.
There is a dock with ladder for swimming in the crystal clear, warm waters of Milkyberry Bay, where the snorkeling is wonderful. Only five minutes walk to the other side of the island, are steps down to one of the most beautiful Atlantic beaches in the world, with six miles of soft coral sand, spectacular reefs and stunning blue ocean.
The cottage, which is about one and a half miles from the only village, was completed in January 2001. It is built of wood and designed in a simple, rustic style. The decor is light and airy. The accommodation is on the ground floor and consists of two pretty bedrooms, each with a 5 foot wide built in bed and private bathroom.
There is a very attractive open plan living room at the front, a dining area with lovely views and a well equipped kitchen. There is a screened in porch and a lovely wide outside deck. Also, an upstairs deck with breathtaking views. It is very comfortably furnished and there is central air conditioning.
Great Guana Cay is approximately seven miles long and half a mile wide. The third longest barrier reef in the world lies just off shore and the diving and snorkeling are truly fantastic. Deep sea fishing and bone fishing are also extremely popular activities.
The island is home to about 120 people and there is a small, very well stocked grocery store, a liquor store, and gift shops. There are also four delightful restaurant/bars, all in truly beautiful settings, including the famous Nippers Bar, which is perched on top of the dunes, overlooking the stunningly blue Atlantic. Most people use rental golf carts for transport. Boats can also be rented locally and day trips for snorkeling, diving and visiting other islands can be arranged. There is also bicyle and kayak hire from Dive Guana.
This is a perfect 'getaway from it all' vacation spot, with some of the best diving, snorkelling, swimming and boating opportunities in the world.

We had a super time. The cottage was wonderful - we saw a dolphin, sting rays, barracudas and lots of fish just off the dock! The people on the island were so nice and welcoming. I am so glad we had the opportunity to visit Guana and exprience all it had to offer.
