Bar Harbor house description
Our Brand New Home is Nestled between the Mountains and the Sea in the Heart of Acadia National Park.
Experience grand views of Cadillac, Door, Champlain and Gorham Mountains from your 'base camp'.
Our home was built in Spring 2011 and designed to accommodate family vacations. An open floor plan allows for comfort and ease of conversation between kitchen, dining and living areas. Pleasant mountain views are visible through the large windows in the dining and living areas. We added plenty of bedrooms to provide privacy from the rest of the house.
Beds are furnished with high quality LL Bean linens to ensure the most comfortable nights rest. Professional photographs of local scenes adorn the walls. Two full bathrooms have LL Bean towels and shower curtains. The deck is made of Western Red cedar and looks out to the mountains and fields. Deer are seen here frequently. Our home reflects simple Maine Home Design which will add to your total Maine Experience.
Walk to Cadillac Mountain South Ridge Trail 5 minutes from house. Reach The park Loop Road and Otter Cliffs/Sand Beach/Gorham Mt and Otter Cove from a local trail or through the Blackwoods road. A great value for those wanting efficient Acadia accessability.
We are on the Island Explorer bus line-simply walk down the short driveway to the Otter Creek Market to utilize the Free service- comes hourly. The Market is a convenient store for any necessities- a larger grocery store is located in Bar Harbor 5 miles away. Enjoy the town playground which is also across from the Otter Creek Market. Nearby trails will take you to Otter Cove with more fantastic views of the mountains and of the sea. The South Ridge Cadillac Mountain Trail is also walking disatance from the house. Relax at Seal Harbor Beach which is only 3 miles away. Sand Beach, Carriage Roads, Jordan Pond and multiple hiking trails and the park loop road are also relatively close to our property. We have a great central location to allow you to embrace all the wonders of this beautiful area.

Location! Location! Location!
First night, we walked across the street to the Otter Creek Market and brought back a delicious Lobster Dinner which we enjoyed on the deck while enjoying the view. The fall view from the deck is gorgeous! We also enjoyed this house's convenience to the Park and to Bar Harbor. -from our guest book

Great Home!--from our guest book
Its been an eventful, fun-filled week for our family. Despite the heat wave, a record high of 96 on Friday, we were able to hike several mountains, kayak, go whale watching, bike on carriage paths, use the free shuttle from the house, and thoroughly enjoy the "Park" and Bar Harbor. Your house was very comfortable and a perfect location for all our activities. Thank you for answering all of our "touristy" questions and guiding us to the best experiences! We look forward to returning to Acadia!

Great Time BEAUTIFUL VIEWS!
Thank you for the great stay at your home! We fell in love with Acadia and Bar Harbor. We appreciated the quiet location with fabulous views as you described! It wasn't far from Bar Harbor which made day tripping easy! Many Acadia trails and sites were relatively close to this location. The kitchen was well supplied-we liked the open floor plan. Linens were comfortable and good quality. We hope to return in the future. We had a wonderful time!

New home with excellent mountain views
New home with excellent mountain views
We stayed here for a week in September . First, the pros of this property. The location is very convenient to the park entrance and many of the trails we wanted to hike. It is also an easy drive into Bar Harbor. It is in a nice quiet area that was easy to find. The mountain views from the deck are fabulous, and we enjoyed several dinners out there on the picnic table. There is a nice yard. The Otter Creek Market is literally steps away, and there is a very good selection of food and supplies here at reasonable prices. This is also where the Island Explorer bus stops with pretty frequent stops here. The kitchen is well supplied. The bedrooms are spacious. Now, the cons. The house and kitchen appliances are new, but the furniture and bedding are not. The beds weren't real comfortable. The TV in the living room is about a 17" screen, and is hard to even see from the couch. The DVD player wasn't hooked up, so my husband figured out how to hook it up so we could watch a movie. There was no remote, so we had to get up every time we wanted to pause it or back it up. The TV in the upstairs bedroom was even smaller. Make sure you take extra towels and washcloths, because you only get 1 per person. Even with a washer/dryer, that wasn't enough for me for a week's stay. There was no instructions about what we were supposed to do when we arrived, and there was no house number on the property, so we weren't sure if we were even at the right place. We had to call the owner, got no answer, so we went to the nearby market, and he told us that was the rental. Security deposit was returned about 35 days after check out after an e-mail prompt from me. The last thing, which is probably trivial-there was an envelope on the kitchen counter from the maid asking for a tip. I though this was tacky. I would have left more had I not been prompted to do so. Overall though, spacious, and would easily accomodate a large family group. Very convenient location. Photos accurately depict the home.

Owner response: I am glad you enjoyed the stay at our property. This was our first year with the process so it is certainly a learning experience. To be clear- all of the linen-towels and bedding- are indeed new-purchased in 2011 at LL Bean. The televisions are also new and the smaller one that is upstairs is a nineteen inch. We chose to not have huge flat screen tvs in our home because that is not part of our decor plan. The TV downstairs is a 28 inch. This is a reasonable sized television. We plan to include televisions with cable TV in all bedrooms for 2012. Some of the furniture is brand new, some is not-but all of the furniture is in very good condition. We send an email prior to arrival on directions to the house, how to reach us, and where to find the keys on arrival. I am sorry if there was any confusion. We plan to mark the property more clearly with a sign that was constructed last summer. We are sorry that you did not return our phone call when we called you back after you arrived to the property. We called both your cell and the house telephone as soon as we received the message. We also later went to the house and found no one there. We are clear and sincere when we state that we live just up the street and are happy to answer any questions or address any needs you may have. This would include assisting with any electronics issues or providing extra towels. We have parties up to 14 and our housekeeping staff provides one set of towels per person. We are happy to deliver more and I address this in our welcome greeting/conversation. We also have a notebook binder on the counter with all house information including how to contact us for any questions or concerns. I appreciate the feedback and we will strive to improve for the second year. I did question the appropriateness of the envelope but figured I would allow it due to our housekeeper doing such great work and not really knowing the proper way to handle her leaving it on the counter. I do agree it appears a bit tacky and I certainly do not want that impression at the house. We will also purchase a new dvd player due to the missing remote. I send the security deposit back after reviewing the telephone and cable bills to ensure there are no extra charges. I will look to see if there is another system to review these areas to make the deposit return more timely. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention.
