2012 and it's all different!
2012 and it's all different!
We made the awfull mistake of renting this place for all of July. the pictures were taken in a different decade. The roof is caving in on the road end in several spots. i have the pictures of it. It has caused a leak inside and the whole place smells like mold and mildue. the owner is totally misrepresenting this structure. the yard was full of junk! Old travel trailers, busted up canoes, old toys etc. The yard hadn't been mowed this year. the dock that was 20 years old in the first place was destroyed by the winter ice. There is less than a foot of water there and the under 200 acre "pond"(max 8' deep) is more of a swamp. My family took one good look and sniff inside and left. This place is not fit for human habitation! We refused to stay even though the owner refused to return any of the money. The owner hasn't been there in over a year and has no idea how bad it is or just doesn't care. The place is for sale and I suspect that one call to the realitor would get you the same story. it is unsaleable. WE WERE TAKEN TO THE CLEANERS DON'T LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU!

Owner response: The Realtors pictures were posted this May 2012, you can easily see the realtors pictures are a true representative of the pictures we have on our VRBO web site. To review visit Lake Front Properties of Maine at Belgradelakepoint.com and Fahi Pond -3 Duck Drive. The dock is not represented but was built last year and the cabin has been completely renovated in the last three. The roof is not caving in it does show where the addition was added. Would you please share your pictures on our VRBO Website, so future guests can decide which is true. We just began renting last summer and there are reviews for these guests.
Our visit to Maine and this cottage was so much more than we expected. If your looking for R&R, then this is the place. If your looking for outdoor adventure, then this is the place. You can't beat the price !!!! The cottage was awesome, very quaint and comfortable. The pictures do not do it justice. The property was very secluded and sitting on the attached deck every morning listening to the birds while gazing at the lake and mountains is better than any medicine. The dock down at the lake is soooooo peaceful. Great place to read a good book. We fished, but only caught a few small ones, it was fun trying. If your looking for adventure we recommend Sugarloaf Mtn. We went zip lining and hiking. After our adventure we then went to the fitness center with a pool, jacuzzi's, racquetball etc. for only $8:00. Whitewater rafting is also near by.....looking forward to this on our next visit. Our only complaint is you must wait 10-15 minutes between showers. No big deal when your on Maine time!! I have recommended the cottage to friends and relatives.

Even tho the cottage was not directly on the lake, it was a very short walk. It was very quiet and peaceful, with no large motor boats or jet skis zooming by. We could hear the loons talking in the early morning hours and during the evenings. My grand children had a wonderful time fishing off the dock, and watching the big turtle that resides there!! There was a zip line that was perfect for them to play on, and they didn't stay inside all day playing video games or watching TV--they were out exploring, fishing, or making s'mores!! It is very private, with no close neighbors--we were there a week and saw the folks that own the cottage at the end of the lane twice, and that was the only people we saw. I was pleased by the full size fridge and range, and ample cupboard space for storage. There were enough beds for our rather large group (5 adults and 3 kids) to sleep comfortably. The adults were my 2 sons, my daughter, my mom and myself, and 2 girls and a boy for kids. We also enjoyed cooking out on the grill and eating at the picnic table on the deck. There is also an nice swimming area about a 5 min drive from the cottage that is pretty secluded if you don't chose to swim there at the camp. There is a small grocery store about 15 min away that carries just about everything, and a regular grocery about 20 min away. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay, and if it is available next year, I definately want to re-book!! Many thanks to our hosts for a lovely stay at a very cozy, comfortable cottage!!

Quiet Peaceful Pond Experience
Quiet Peaceful Pond Experience
This was my first Maine experience. My husband and I loved the surrounding area with its rivers, ponds, and mountains. Skowhegan's Farmer's market is definitely worth a visit. The cottage was a bit more rustic than I anticipated. Also the picture of the dock with the dogs is not the dock for this cottage. It is the next door cottages' dock. Our dock was not in the best of shape. The springs below the mattress in the master bedroom were a bit too springy allowing the bed to dip in all kinds of angles. We preferred sleeping in the bunk room. The kitchen was well stocked and the owner supplied plenty of cleaning supplies . From the living area you have two different views of the lake since the cottage sits on a point. We enjoyed going to sleep listening to the loons. We rented kayaks in Skowhegan and paddled the whole pond and my husband caught fish daily. If you want a peaceful lake experience and don't mind rustic accomodations this is the place to be. I think the owners are working on cottage improvements so the rustic conditions will most likely improve.
