We spent a week in Reykjavik. This apartment was really great, felt like home away from home. All the things a family with children needs were here. The location is superb - bus stops, taxi stations, shops, restaurants, tourist info are just around the corner. Special thanks to Siggi for this fine apartment, we'll definitely recommend it to everyone coming to Iceland.

Owner response: Thank you for kind words and for being a great renter. Hope to see you again!

This is a great apartment to stay in, it's bright and comfortable and in a great location. I looked at many apartments before choosing this one and it's definitely a bargain. The location is very central, there are many restaurants, bars, and shops within a couple of minutes walking distance. The bakery/coffee shop downstairs is very handy for breakfast and there is a 24 hour supermarket around the corner. The apartment itself is very comfortable with a large couch, 32" TV and lots of room to store your cases. Sheets and towels are also provided which is very handy. It's around the back of the building on the 3rd floor (or 4th floor if you're American or Icelandic). We had read about occasional noise in the previous reviews so it was with some trepidation that we watched one of the bars behind the apartment putting up a marquee one Friday morning, however it wasn't used at all on the Friday night. At 12.30am on Sunday morning the music started, but it wasn't loud and we were both asleep within a few minutes of it starting. The owner Siggi mentioned that occasionally this happens so it's really nothing to be of concern. We stayed for 4 nights and this was the only time we heard anything. We didn't even hear any other noises from other apartments in the building. All in all this is a great apartment and I would highly recommend it.

Clean and comfortable with a perfect location in the heart of the city center. Despite the proximity of pubs and restaurants, there was only one night when we heard any noise, and in general the apartment was quiet. We had a rental car for exploring outside of Reykjavik, and it was easy to find metered parking on the street outside. If you don't have a car, it's just a short walk to many of the attractions and tourist offices. Best for two people, but could easily fit a third on the large sofa. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful time staying at property 338885 in Reykjavik. The owner was absolutely wonderful. He stayed a bit to make sure that the TV/Internet was working properly and explained the use of the washer and dryer. The apartment was very nice and clean. It is extremely centrally located to the main shopping street, Harpa, 3 different markets, and the bars/clubs. I would definitely recommend this apartment to a friend/relative. Thanks you!

Better late than never on the review, I guess. :) My wife and I decided on Iceland as a part of our honeymoon based on our love of the scenery and the local music that we love (I'm a musician). (The Sigur Rós film Heima was a huge part of it--see it.) After a week there, I'm now obsessed and rarely go a day without thinking about Iceland and our time there. We happened to plan it during a week of perfect weather, right as it was starting to stay light at all hours. It was magic. The people were incredible. We'll be returning, and dragging friends with us. We loved the look of the apartment from the pictures here, the location seemed great, and Siggi was great to chat with through email--so we booked it. We had a rental car and just used street parking around the building; it was cheap and I've never seen a pay parking system that was so NOT out to get people. You can't pay for time when the parking is free. It just rolls to the next day! We even got a parking ticket once and it was a pleasant experience to pay. Just go to a bank teller; the faster you get there, the cheaper it is. It almost doesn't even make sense to someone who has dealt with Chicago parking authority. The pictures do the apartment justice. The balcony is nice. It's spacious and well-equipped. It is also SUPREMELY located. We walked basically everywhere and it was in such a great location. Yes, you may hear the late-night drinking crowd from nearby bars, if you're worried about that. It didn't bother us in the slightest, and I think we were there at peak time for it. Plus, late-night on weekends means food trucks basically right outside the downstairs door. Siggi was out of the country when we were there, but he had a very helpful friend meet us for the initial check in (who was also available if we had questions). He's the one who made us realize how dumb we had been with the clothes dryer. Note that when the little water tray light is lit up and the dryer won't turn on, you need to empty the container on the TOP LEFT of the dryer, with the somewhat impossible-to-notice handle. The entire chassis of the dryer got a solid cleaning out of us before we finally asked. We left some helpful Post-Its on the dryer, but they probably didn't last. Anyway, what a wonderful place. We'll be emailing Siggi when we're planning on returning. Check out Café Babalú (became our home base when out and about) and 12 Tónar for amazing music discoveries (great record store with occasional performances).

We were very pleased with this apartment, and would definitely rent it again and recommend it to friends. This was our fourth visit to Reykjavik, so we knew more or less what we were looking for as far as location, and this did not disappoint. You really couldn't ask for a better home base for exploring Reykjavik. If you plan on walking mostly, you're very convenient to all the sites of interest in the main downtown part of the city. The city bus stop is right across the street. The tour company "Iceland Excursions" is on the corner. We also had no problems parking our rental car conveniently to the apartment. There's also a small grocery store less than a two minute walk away. The apartment is ideal for two. The kitchen was much more thoroughly equipped than what one finds in most rental apartments. The bed was not luxurious, but it was perfectly adequate, and I slept fine. I loved that it had a bath tub, and enjoyed taking baths every evening. We didn't use the washer and dryer, but it was great that it was there. The decor is very cheery and danish modern, which I think is pleasant. Everything was in perfect working order. All in all we were extremely happy with our choice. The only negative thing I would say is that there was a slight smell of cigarette smoke. I really only noticed it when I first walked into the apartment after being out all day. There's an air purifier in the apartment that was running the whole time, so I don't think there's any actual lingering smoke. It's a non-smoking apartment, so I don't know if someone cheated or what. I only mention it because I have a friend who is unbelievably sensitive and intolerant of even the slightest smell of cigarette and I know it would have bothered her. It didn't bother us at all, and wouldn't stop us from renting this place again and my husband and I are both non-smokers and don't like cigarette smoke at all. So don't be put off by this comment unless you or the person you're traveling with is a complete freak about cigarette smell. Anyway. Loved the place, loved Iceland. It was our best trip to Iceland so far. We're definitely going to come back and when we do I hope we can rent this apartment.

Owner response: Hi I'm sorry if you smelled smoke, it seem like the ventilation in the building broke, because it's supposed to suck the all smell out, but instead smell from other apartments has been leaking into mine. That is due to a fuse went out, so the motor stopped without no one in the building noticing. Smoke smell is not stationary in the apartment, it was due to the motor in the ventilation stopped. Thank you for staying, best regards Siggi

We stayed for 4 nights at this apartment and you can't beat the location. It's within walking distance of many of the sights in Reykjavik, our stay was over a weekend and we had no problems with the noise issue some other reviewers complained about experiencing. The satellite tv and Netflix were great... The elevator was out of order but Siggi helped us carry our luggage up the 4 flights of stairs, so no big deal. A couple of things were not as advertised, we had no complimentary juice or soft drinks, we were told free parking was 5 minutes away and being in the city center, we couldn't find any, not a real problem, it only cost us a few dollars a day to park & display, so if you have a car, be prepared for this. The overall cleanliness was good, but the toilet needed cleaning on our arrival and there wasn't enough toilet paper, again not a huge thing. As far as the 24 hr supermarket, it's the 10/11, comparable to a 7/11 in the states, not great, pick up your groceries at a Bonus before you get there, we're sure glad we did. Overall, highly recommended... thanks Siggi

Owner response: Hi Cris, I'm sorry you could not find the free parking, but the area I told you about used to be free of charge, but recently it was changed into low price area, which means you can park for one week for about 10 USD. I just didn't know they had changed that. Now it takes about 7 minutes to walk to the free parking area. Regarding the complimentary drinks, I'm sorry, that was a mistake.. we did not have much time to prepare the apartment because you did check in early in the morning or 9am instead of 2pm (which was complimentary) so the change over time was very short and in that rush we forgot the drinks. Regarding toiled rolls there is 1 roll for each day. If the toiled was not clean, I'm deeply sorry that it got left out when we were rushing to clean the apartment before your early arrival. That should never happen again, it is totally unacceptable and I wish you could have notified us when you found out, because we would have fixed that problem right away. Thank you for staying, best regards Siggi

The apartment that we rented in Reykjavik was described accurately in its listing. The property was clean and well maintained. Siggi, our landlord, was very helpful and answered all of our questions. He also recommended a local restaurant, Pisa, which was fabulous. We took a day trip to the Blue Lagoon, out of this world, and also. a day trip on the Golden Circle, interesting and worthwhile. We had a wonderful time in Reykjavik and I would recommend this property to a friend or relative.

Overall a very good stay. Siggi was helpful in every way. The location is central to every downtown attraction and our tours picked us up from the front door. The clubs on the main floor do use the back terrace as a smoking area so there can be some noise on the weekends until early in the morning. If you are flying in from North American then I would look at going to the Blue Lagoon instead of arriving so early in the morning that nothing else is open. Thanks for the loan of the adaptor Siggi. Owner response: Hi Douglas, thank you for your stay. The club is in Hotel Borg which is the building across from the apartment building, unfortunately sometimes they open out their back door for smokers which is illegal and not on their property. This is very recent and will be tackled by the authorities. Sorry about that, but when you are right in the centre this can happen.
