We took our children skiing for the first time at Terry Peak. I emailed the owner and he called me back immediately to answer my questions. It was located a couple of minutes from the cabin, and perfect for our beginning skiers. The cabin itself was in a great location and was a beautiful "home away from home." 10 of us stayed with ages ranging from 4 to 83 and we had plenty of room. The beds were comfortable and everything had a very "homey" feeling. We loved using the 2 fireplaces at night and we all enjoyed the hot tub. The kitchen had everything we needed, plenty of pots and pans, dishes, and silverware. The washer and 2 dryers came in handy after skiing all day. The views were beautiful from the deck. We had a foot of snow the morning we were supposed to leave. It was gorgeous, but we were a little afraid of trying to get out. We put calls into Crystal, the housecleaner, and to the owner. Both were very accomodating with giving good advice and extending our check-out for a couple of hours until we could get out safely. The roads were well taken care of and we got out without any problems. Our kids are already planning our next trip to the Black Hills and the cabin! We would highly recommend this property to anyone travelling to the area.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our stay at Eagle Vista was pure enjoyment. From the comfortable beds, great kitchen, stunning view off the back deck, hot tub, to the close proximity to Lead and Deadwood we couldn't have been more thrilled or had a better time. As a group of women who enjoy a nice glass of wine, a good burger at Lewis and some sisterhood, this cabin was ideal. We are already planning our next 'women's getaway'!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My experience with this cabin rental was fantastic from inquiries on available dates and details regarding the cabin to the follow up call after check out with the owner. The home is beautiful with georgeous views and plenty to do to stay busy or relax with family and friends or alone if wanted. The size of the cabin is very accomodating for this as well. Very clean and comfortable,. There is great entertainment and dining close by. Louie's Saloon which was recommended by the owner does indeed have the best burgers I have had. I would definately recommend to family and friends alike and plan on returning!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our family of 6, 2 kids under 6 and in-laws enjoyed our trip to the Black Hills and especially our lodging. My 2 year old loved the car toddler bed. Both boys enjoyed waking up in the morning and going hot tubbing while watching wild turkeys roam around. My father in law loved the proximity to Deadwood and my husband enjoyed the real wood burning fireplace. The cabin was more than spacious for our small group. There was an awesome bunk room with a Foosball table in it. The cabin had everything we needed - right down to comfortable beds and night lights - thanks. Communication with the owners was excellent. While in the area, we went on a hike in Spearfish Canyon. Be sure not to miss Cheyenne Crossing for a meal. It was delicious and worth the wait - especially if you like pancakes, cinnamon rolls or Navajo tacos.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This home exceeded my expectations. Upon arrival the home was found to be clean and orderly. All necessities were in place and a very handy guide book was found on the coffee table that included points of interest, places to eat and everything needed as far as how everything worked within the home. I would highly recommend a visit to the Black Hills and staying in this beautiful home. After flying from Boston to Seattle, Myself and six friends spent eight days travelling from Seattle to Lead on motorcycles and found this home the perfect place to unwind after a long journey. The week spent in South Dakota for bike week proved to be very entertaining, and Eagle Vista proved to be the perfect place to end our days. I hope to someday return to South Dakota and once again stay at Eagle Vista.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cabin! Great views all around! This home has been luxuriously crafted with the finest materials: granite counter-tops, field stone accents, travertine marble/glass showers and hand-sawn logs etc. The rustic interior decoration gives the cabin a very warm and cozy atmosphere. It is decorated with a lot of Native American artwork. We really enjoyed the two fireplaces. After skiing or snowmobiling everybody was sitting around the fireplaces and sipping some hot coffee or chocolate. The kitchen has a gas cook top and is fully stocked Downstairs in the kid area is a flat screen TVs, X box, a foosball table, a dart board, horseshoes, a bumper pool table and many games. Overall the cabin provides rustic charm combined with all the amenities of a modern home including satellite music/TV and high speed wireless Internet. The renters were very helpful. I hope that we can come back next year! G.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

About the owner: A special place to easy relax and enjoy nature.
Why the Owner Chose Lead:
In winter of 2002 our family made ski vacation at Terry Peak. While exploring the surroundings, we found in the Terry Peak housing development, 2 lots with a stunning view to the Southern Hills and Wyoming. It took us 1 year to negotiate purchase of these lots. Construction started in Spring of 2004, and we completed the home in the Summer of 2005. Since this is our home, where we will spend many holidays, we paid extra attention to custom details as one can appreciate immediately. We specifically chose local companies and materials to add authenticity to our home. These details include the masonry work which used the local field stone, the log siding which was milled in Piedmont, and harwood floors which were recycled from an old barn, the dakota mahogany granite countertops which is quaried in Milbank, SD. The custom made pine furniture was crafted by a local furniture maker in Piedmont, SD. Some of the artwork, was obtained from the Rosebud Indian Reservation, near Winner, SD. We have also added architectural details from our travels around the world such as the functioning antique Peruvian oil lamps hanging from the mantels, the Peruvian and Mexican sconces, and the Gourd light over the master jacuzee.
Sincerely,
The Schmidt-Grimmingers
