It is only a 20 minute drive to Lake Sunapee Ski Resort, named the best family ski area of New England. There are hiking trails to suit all ages and abilities in the area, as well as museums and a host of other attractions.

This is a lovely house with lots of space, lovely views across the pond and well-equipped. The owners were very accommodating, moving furniture for us to fit in a crib and lending us a high chair for our stay. There was also a thoughtful basket of local produce on our arrival and little touches that made our stay very enjoyable. The cottage is well positioned close to New London and Sunapee, for shops, restaurants and local attractions, but it is also just off the interstate making it very easy to reach places slightly further away, such as Hanover and Manchester (I speak as a Brit who isn't used to driving such distances!). On the other hand, the house was nice enough and big enough to make spending a day indoors a pleasure and we enjoyed taking the canoe out onto the pond and sitting in the garden enjoying the scenery.

Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We arrived in New Hampshire and had no idea what was ahead. It was our first trip to the state and it will not be our last. This is the ultimate cottage and I give it five stars. In fact, if you look up "cottage" in the dictionary, there should be a picture of this property. The cottage is very clean and well appointed with new appliances amd furniture. And the view of Otter Pond? Awesome! A very relaxing deck, backyard and dock. I cannot say enough good things about this place. You will love the location, the amenities and comfortable atmosphere. We ventured out to New London and loved the small town and it's very friendly people. We also took a trip up to Hanover to see the Dartmouth campus and into Vermont and visited Woodstock. I highly recommend you do the same if you visit. And I highly recommend this cottage, I'd buy it if I could.

Our week at Otter Pond was incredibly relaxing and enjoyable. Our son's loved fishing daily and caught many different types of fish from the canoe, including a chain pickerel. The amenities in the cottage appealed to all and included upscale appliances and fixtures. The gas grill afforded us the opportunity to cook lakeside and enjoy the beautiful NH weather. The house is conveniently located near the North side of Lake Sunapee (Sargent's boat launch/rentals). The photos presented are exactly what you experience with the exception of the deck which now has a required railing system. We highly recommend the property and hope to return next summer!

The cottage is beautiful, the pictures don't do it justice - the renovations tastefully done. My family and I enjoyed our week there- the fishing from the pier (about 25' directly out from the front is primo for bass and perch) and from the provided canoe. We enjoyed our time there very much.

This cottage was exactly as pictured. Immaculate and Comfortable. Great spot out on a point of land, with a sturdy dock. The owner left a highly detailed and up to date notebook of local restaurants, and places of interest. The Bass fishing at Otter Pond and Little Lake Sunapee was fantastic at this time of year. The Grey Goose brew pub in New London is a terrific place for dinner. The owner went out of his way to smooth any minor bumps in the road and is very attentive. I would highly recommend this cottage.

The owners did a wonderful job with renovations.. The pictures are a very accurate reflection Cottage worked perfectly for our ski family of five. I have never had a rental that was so well cared for. It was not just clean, but immaculate. Everything was in great working order and the kitchen was well equipped. Despite the lack of natural snow, we had a great ski season and loved coming home to a cozy warm fire (adults) or the ice rink daddy shoveled on the pond (kids). I woudl definately recommend this cottage to family and friends

We scheduled a 4-day weekend because we just couldn't let the summer go and we ended up with gorgeous weather, so we're very glad we did! The yard at the cottage was beautiful and sunny, and the dock roomy. The guys could fish and I could read and knit and there was room for us all. One of us was swimming every day and we enjoyed the trips around the pond in the canoe. We loved eating dinner outside on the picnic table and the yard was even roomy enough for the 6-yo to fly a kite! The cottage itself was stunning -- the renovations were above and beyond. Granite and slate kitchen, gas fireplace, comfortable couches, everything so light and bright. Such attention to detail too -- yes, we noticed that the washcloths in the bathroom exactly matched the colors in the mosaic glass tile behind the sink! Our only disappointment was that across Otter Pond was a road, and because noise travels so well across water, we did have some road noise. This was in no way a vacation killer, but we would have enjoyed something a bit more secluded. However, the cottage and yard itself was very private, even from the close next-door neighbors. It was a quiet, peaceful place to be, even with the road noise. We also adored the surrounding area. We boated and biked to the general store and loved poking around Prospect Hill Antiques and Sunapee Harbor. Our tour of The Fells was amazing and we could have spent hours building fairy houses in their Fairy Village (you may have noticed the fairy house the 6-yo built on the rocks to the right of the dock!). Thank you for a lovely stay (and the local treats as well!) and such attention to detail in making your guests feel at home.

Finally a rental cottage that is exactly as described. Very clean and well equipped with all the essentials. Perfect for my family of four (two girls 15 and 17). The owner was pleasant and readily available with any questions and concerns, (the accent was a plus). I highly recommend a walk down to Sunapee Harbor and a trip to The Flying Goose for the bourbon tips.

We were visiting from Minnesota to spend time with my son who attends Dartmouth College, (only 25 minutes from the cottage). So the location was perfect and beautiful! What a wonderful place! Everything about the property is great! It's very spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped. Everything is practically brand new! We had five adults, my mother (in the master), my two grown sons and girlfriend in the bunkroom, and I slept on the very comfy hide away (new, comfy, hide away) in the living area. We had plenty of room. The cottage and lake were so nice. We enjoyed use of the canoe, actually caught LOTS of nice fish in Otter Pond. Great Location! Great Place!

We (two couples and three small children) stayed in the winter, doing a day of skiing at Mt. Sunapee and a day playing in the snow in the back yard. There was more than enough room for all of us. Everything seemed clean and new. The kitchen was stocked nicely with all the pots, pans, and other things we needed. Our weekend was excellent, and we plan to go back in the summer for another short relaxing vacation. Would definitely recommend to others.

                      Why the Owner Chose Sunapee:
This is a family-owned and run property. Caroline grew up living by the ocean and Iain has lots of happy memories of summers spent messing around in boats, so when this property came on the market it was irresistible. Our children and grandchildren have stayed here and they voted it a resounding success. Ideal for a family summer or winter-ski vacation, or for a couple to get away from it all and just sit by the water watching the sunsets and listening to the loons, we hope you will enjoy it too. Iain and Caroline are just a phone call away if you have any questions.
