The home is comfortable, modern, well provisioned, and ideally located. I'd definitely rent it again if I returned to Rockaway. The only drawback was that the upper-level decks for the entire building were marked by the county as unsafe for occupancy during our stay; however, the owner clearly disclosed that fact before we booked and offered an adequate rent discount to compensate for the inconvenience.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: The balconies, which have a construction defect issue, will be replaced later this year. In the meantime, we have discounted our nightly rates and our guests will still enjoy the front and center location of this pristine and well-appointed property. The sliding doors still function so that you can hear and smell the ocean which is just steps from the door. The ground floor patio is also available for lounging and grilling.

We just returned from 7 nights at Hakuna Matata. We had a blast. Everything was so so close, we crabbed, went clamming and enjoyed campfires on the beach. Even tho we couldn't use the balconies, we had ocean views and the sounds of waves throughout the condo. Everything was spotless and accurate. Thank you for everything and we will definately stay there again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Even though it was a cold March vacation, Hakuna Matata's beach location was much appreciated. We took long walks on the beach everyday and had all 7 miles to ourselves. The townhome was very clean and well maintained on the inside, though the winter weather seemed to have taken a toll on the outside of the building and we were not unfortunately allowed on the decks. The unit was very comfortable and had everything that we needed. I would most definitely recommend this unit and I hope to visit again someday- maybe in the summer next time!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My husband and I really enjoyed the comforts of Hakuna Matata, a two-bedroom, 2-1/2 bath condo at Rockaway Beach. The condo was beautifully appointed with lovely furniture and linens and a fully furnished kitchen. Decks on the top and middle floor provided lovely views of the ocean, and we were 30 feet from the shoreline. Only drawback were the very long stairs which were hard this retired couple to carry things up from the garage on the first floor. We loved it and would rent it again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: So glad to know you enjoyed the decor, the well-stocked kitchen, and the view of the ocean from all 3 floors. You do get some exercise climbing the stairs, but then again they are the reason for the awesome views!

This vacation condo was perfect. Everything was as EXACTLY as described and advertised, which was a very pleasant surprise. The condo is well furnished and very comfortable. I was impressed with how clean the condo was when we arrived and the welcome basket was a very nice touch. All the sand toys, chairs, and kid toys were a nice addition. The rental manager was great to work with.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful time in Rock Away. This condo was perfect, its location was steps from the sand. Just a 15 foot walk across a driveway and down a little hill into the soft sand. The views and sound of the ocean right out the back door was wonderful. The beds are very comfortable, nice quality bedding and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed sea-shelling on the beach, walking to various shops and restaurants and enjoying the views. The small town of RockAway was quaint and close to many other sightseeing attractions. Starfish vacation rentals was extremely helpful and wonderful to work with. She made our stay above and beyond perfect. Thanks!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Why the Owner Chose Rockaway Beach:
We fell in love with this unit the moment we looked out and saw nothing but ocean. It has always been our family’s dream to own a beachfront vacation home and this dream came true for us in late summer of 2010. We are a family of five with busy active lives and wanted to find a peaceful vacation spot that would help all of us to unwind while relaxing in luxury. Hakuna Matata is that place, our worry free haven while being close to the splendid beauty of the Pacific Ocean. We chose Rockaway Beach because of its marvelous stretch of beach. Walking along the seven mile stretch is always an adventure for our kids. From kite flying to beachcombing, you never know what you might find…shells, star fish, or even a shipwreck. Be sure to try crabbing at the local Jetty, it is always a fun excursion which might provide you with some dinner options. We open our home to you in hopes that you might have the opportunity to experience a bit of the Haukuna Matata spirit. Enjoy!
