BAJA MEXICO - People who are familiar with the spectacular Baja Pacific Coast will be pleased to discover one of the newest properties in Los Gaviotas was opened for rental March of 2004. Los Gaviotas, for the uninitiated, is a 30 year old gated community of private residences and rental properties nestled along the beautiful Mexican Coastline just 45 minutes south of San Diego, California.
Long popular with California vacationers, as well as savvy surfers around the US and the world, Los Gaviotas and the surrounding Rosarito area offer a wide range of activities for the entire family.
This newer, non-smoking property, lovingly called Casa Toscana de Baja by the owners, is awash in charm, comfort, and functionality. Facing almost due west, this 2,400 square foot property offers a 180 degree view of some of the most stunning sunsets anywhere in the world, from the two spacious balconies along the front of the house. The gorgeous white water views even make morning coffee an extra special occasion!
The owners told this reporter that they decided to make the main theme of this home reminiscent of the Tuscany Region of Italy because of their affinity for all things wine-related, including pairing interesting wine with interesting food.
Upon reaching the top floor of the home, the guests will be struck with an abundance of interesting furniture and decorations. This floor holds the fully equipped kitchen, a spacious living area with a large brick fireplace, a “Second Master” bedroom with a king-size bed and a private bathroom, another half bath just off the Living Room, and a terrace with outdoor furniture and a gas grill.
The living area has a large screen TV, a DVD/VCR Player with Surround-Sound, and a better than average DVD and VCR collection with selections for all ages. A good variety of amusing and entertaining games are also on hand. The owners also invite their guests to bring their favorite CD’s for playing on the stereo system.
When it’s finally time to rest up for the next day’s activities, the visitors can go down stairs to the three other beautiful bedrooms. Each bedroom at this level has its own private bathroom, and is decorated in a unique and interesting theme.
The Master Bedroom, with its king-size bed, is on this level and provides the guest with a “Taste of the Tropics”. The beautiful bathroom has a double vanity and large shower, complete with a bathtub - unusual in traditional Mexican architecture.
Romance abounds in this private “retreat”, which includes a fireplace and an inside conversation area for those few chilly evenings, a large ocean view terrace, and even a large television with DVD/VCR player for cozy late night viewing.
The other two bedrooms on this level are also decorated in distinctive style. The “Nautical” room, with its Queen-Size bed, is a whimsical tribute to the stunning Pacific Ocean just steps away from the home’s front door. The “Safari” room gives the weary traveler a taste of the wild jungle without leaving the safety and beauty of the Baja Coast.
This sanctuary has two Twin-Size beds that are perfect for the kids in the group. There is a gaming system on the TV in this room. There is a completely unique feature in the “Safari” room. If the group includes all adults, the owners have thoughtfully provided a “gadget” that will convert the two twin beds into another king-size bed so no one has to sleep alone! Private baths in both rooms insure a “no-waiting” policy in this Paradise on the Pacific.
