This place has everything you could want in a rental and more! It is very welcoming and cozy inside and out from the wind chimes on the front porch, to the reading room filled with books upstairs, to the mountain views, the sound of the Yuba river below, this house has it all. We had a family reunion here and had plenty of room for everyone. There are 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. You might be a little put off by the fact there isn't any wifi or tv, but really, it just adds to the charm. We played games and talked instead. We hiked and fished. The house is right next to a cemetery but even that isn't scary like you would think--it just adds character. We walked to Downieville each evening and also walked down to Pauley Creek Falls from the house. We've stayed in lots of rentals in Sierra City and surrounding areas and have decided this is the best place to stay by far!

Unmatched Relaxation and Beauty
We planned a multiple-family, long weekend at this house and were amazed at the beauty of both the home and the area. Everyone commented on how nicely decorated and well appointed the the house is. There is no wi-fi which downright frightened my wife but that was actually one of the best parts. Downieville is about the river, the mountain biking and enjoying a slower way of life and this house delivers all of that. The downtown area and the lake are a short walk away and the owners couldn't be nicer. Highly recommended!

We received your check today; quite prompt, thanks! We loved staying at your house. We did have guests over and everyone who saw it was impressed. It was quite well appointed and had everything that we needed. Because of the spacious master bedroom, the bride (and her entourage) dressed there for the wedding. We will most certainly want to stay there again; it is just a very inviting place. It turned out to be a perfect week-end and the wedding was a big success. The newlyweds are off to Barcelona to start their honeymoon.

Why the Owner Chose Downieville:
We love the quiet of our home and the nature that surrounds us - where we can fish, hike, bike, and swim in various swimming holes. Mostly we love getting away from the big city to connect with nature and with each other.
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
Moving in nature's rhythm - slow to medium. We love the porch-life with warm afternoon wind caressing us while sipping a margarita after a long day of biking, swimming, or hiking.
